I dislike much of what Brandon has done. A lot. But this seems absurd. I don't like him being in coaches' meetings. But if he is suggesting the direction of the play calling, I would hope that Hoke would punch him in the mouth.

I think we should quit using the term, not because about what it says about them, but what it says about us. It makes us look small, particularly when they've beat us like a drum for the past seven years. You can talk when you win. Better yet, be above the trivial as a norm. It was a funny comment when Hart made it forever ago. It should have remained a one-time funny comment by a player after a game.
|1 week 4 days ago||Picking Bama over Auburn||
Picking Bama over Auburn would be like giving the Lombardi trophy to the 2007 Patriots because they were clearly better than the Giants team that beat them in the Super Bowl.
|1 week 4 days ago||Actually, they would want||
Actually, they would want Countess. If their corners were any good, they would be playing FSU.

I assume this has been mentinoned already, but I just read that Urban kept him out of the game. Maybe the first thing the guy has ever done that I respected.

Infinity is not a high enough number of fake points for that one.

I have said it before, but I think Urban's health issues were largely an advanced case of Sabanitis.

Completely agree on Delany analysis. As far as Meyer,
What Ohio gets for having a coach like Meyer = What Ohio wants in a coach

Completely disagree with you, but +1 for your awesome name anyway.

But the #1 meant no more at Michigan than it did anywhere else until after Anthony Carter had worn it.

I have lived in the South my entire life except for three years in high school in Michigan and four of the greatest years of my life in Ann Arbor. And I completely agree with your sentiment.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||You are right about the||
You are right about the people who travel to games. But unfortunately your hypothesis about the number of crazy Alabama fans is also correct.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||Agreed. OSU fans are more||
Agreed. OSU fans are more likely to beat you up outside their stadium, but Alabama fans are more likely to kill a fellow fan for not being fan enough. The fringe of Alabama fans are OSU fans on steroids.I spoke in an earlier post when posters talked about having good experiences with Bama fans at Bowl games, Jerry world etc. I think the Bama fans who are well off enough to go to games, etc. are better than OSU fans. It is the people who treat George Wallace (along with Bear Bryant) with reverence to this day that are the scary ones. I will say that Auburn does not have to send out warnings to fans not to wear their colors to Bryant Denny.

I am as appalled as you are by the situation, believe me. The suburb of Birmingham in which it occurred is just a few miles from my home and the poor woman had three children. But ironically your post discussed many of what I believe to be the underlying reasons for this element of the Alabama fan base including anger, fear, jealousy and most of all socioeconomic status. The attitude is "I'm never going to amount to anything nor will my kids, but we still have our Tide." It's really quite sad, when you look beyond people who do genuine harm like this awful woman or even Harvey Updyke.

I am genuinely pissed off about the way that kid has been treated although impressed by the backlash of support. However as seriously as I take that situation, your comment cracked me up.....another case where I wish I could upvote.

I read this a while back and found it hysterical. (As I did his #2 on the list, Ohio State.) But this part was absolutely spot on, and not necessarily in a funny way.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||That is one the five most||
That is one the five most ridiculous statements I have ever heard. And I know both fan bases very well.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||The people who shoot others||
The people who shoot others in the parking lot over a loss or poison trees are not the kinds of Alabama fans you are going to meet at the Orange Bowl or at Jerry world.

They'll match it.

There has actually been an amazing outpouring of support for him (Tweets from teammates, a Facebook page expressly to support him has been huge.) I sent him a message of support from a Michigan fan on the Facebook page. The support has been really good to see. The bastards threatening him.......pathetic.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||There are plenty of great||
There are plenty of great people who are Alabama fans. I know. I live here. But there is undeniably a large number of them who are pathetic losers in the things that matter in life.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||It's really not all of them.||
It's really not all of them. Many of my closest friends, a number of my employees, etc. are Bama fans. They root for their team like we do. However, there is a very large element of the population of this State that is uneducated, has limited prospects and have a bizzare world view that has their very sense of self worth tied directly to Alabama's football program. The truth of the matter is that many of these people resent their fellow fans that went to college, even the University of Alabama. But the Tide, that is worth caring about. It is absolutely surreal.

The local news report said that the murderer told the police, "I didn't mean to kill her. Can I go home now?"
|2 weeks 3 days ago||You have to remember that||
You have to remember that this is the city where Paul Finebaum and his Jerry Springer show rejects live. It is an unbelievable tragedy, but nothing some of these people do surprises me.

|2 weeks 3 days ago||I cannot speak to UCLA, but||
I cannot speak to UCLA, but that is simply not true about what happened at Auburn. They had a down year in 2007 that was due at least as much to a worse than normal defense as problems on offense. At the end of the year Tuberville panicked and went with a spread even though it was completely inconsistent with his overall defense and kicking game focused coaching philosophy. The next year, his first after Borges, Tubs was fired. You can complain about Borges' performance at Michigan all you want. But he did a good job at Auburn.
