- First, fans of one, for some reason feel like anyone who respects the other is putting their guy down. That is being immature and silly, two things at which sports fans frequently excel. And by the way I am guilty of this. While I like Manning, I feel the media in general favors him over Brady, and I am not a fan of certain commentators because of this.

I hear your point, and agree totally about UFR. However, if their only "national" competition is the ESPN metrics, well, I will assume anyone is better than that.

This is not a very deep comment, but huh?

I understand that he was trying to send a message to his kids, so fine. But the Paramus Catholic Alumni Association outhit his entire team.

Didn't think this was running up the score and I seriously doubt that Frost does. But what he did to Carroll, you're absolutely right, THAT was running up the score. I loved it.
|8 weeks 3 days ago||I understand why he is only||
I understand why he is only fourth on this list. (The to be named first three won Heismans.) Statistically, he is not even on a par with Braylon. But I was a student his last two years. He, more than anyone, made Michigan football evolve. It was a (great) option offense before he came. But he was so electric.....he had moves that I had never seen. He did more per touch than just about anyone. It was Carter that, more than anyone, led Bo to a more pro style offense. This led to a generation of Michigan QB's and receivers that were abundant in the NFL. If I had to vote between AC or Woodson, I honestly don't know which one I would choose. But I do know this. Anthony Carter was a transcendent figure in Michigan football.

Way too low. All time leading scorer. His performance throughout the NC run is one of the very few greatest in tournament history.

I understand the thread because the topic is relevant, so no disrespect intended to the OP. But I care as much about the First Take crew's opinion as I do Paul Finebaum's.

Let it go. His platform is big. His audience is the trailer parks of Alabama. I worry about him like I worry about Jerry Springer. They are one in the same.
|21 weeks 2 days ago||I did not read the comments||
I did not read the comments on AL.com because, as a matter of personal policy, I don't read the comments on AL.com (or anything on the Freep.) However, having lived in Alabama for over thirty years, I can assure you that most of those commenters did not go to Alabama. At best they went to Trailer Park State Technical and Cosmetology School for the Moronic. Look. I'm not pretending that Alabama grads aren't going to be hypocritical about Harbaugh's intentions. They will defend Saban to the death. But the vast majority of the true morons who support Alabama (e.g., most of the Finebaum callers) never came close to going to college there. Most of the graduates are passionate about their program like we are. There are some assholes, but mostly they are fans who love their program. The scary ones (e.g., tree poison types) are just redneck losers.
|28 weeks 7 hours ago||Finebaum||
Guys, please listen to me on this. I haven't played football since high school in the 1970's. Most of you know more football than I do. But I have lived in Birmingham, Alabama, Finebaum's original home base since 1983. He and I are close to the same age. I know more about Finebaum than most of you do. When I came to Birmingham, I found him to be a talented, intentionally bombastic, but less of an Alabama slappy, sports columnist for one of Birmingham's two papers, He eventually went to radio. The longer he was on radio, the less he was about legitimate sports and more about growing his (largely redneck) audience. I quit listening to him at least a decade ago, His show for many years has been a combination of Jerry Springer and SEC fandom coming to you from the trailer park. Is he smarter than his audience? Yes. But he is all about getting rich with his schtick. There is no point in wating your time giving one shit about anything he says. If Jim Harbaugh were to, God forbid, replace Nick Saban (not happening, I'm making a point), he would suddenly become the fourth greatest person in history behind Jesus, Bear Bryant and Saban.
Finebaum is as useful as Sharp. Stop wasting your limited time on this earth giving a fiddler's fuck what he says.

|41 weeks 23 hours ago||I agree with you about there||
I agree with you about there being nothing wrong with it as long as the communications with the kids are honest and clear. I would be disappointed in our program if there were any confusion about an offer being a potential grayshirt. I'm not sure the kids always do know what's going on in some programs in my part (cough, cough SEC) of the country.

I tend to agree, although I don't think a fifth year is guaranteed. If a kid signs and does everything he can on and off the field, he should get his four years. Period. A fifth year, to me, is a different story.
