The answer to this annual question is always either Glen Rice or Chris Webber (maybe Trey Burke if PG is a huge void). For this team, I think Glen Rice would be most valuable given the team's inconsistent shooting.
This board has PTSD from the number of 5* RBs that have washed out for the maize and blue. Najee is a special talent. I would trade any current player outside of Rashan for Najee.
Davis and Wagner can play together. Davis solves defending the post and defensive reboudning problems. On offense, Davis can play the Jordan Morgan role while Wagner stretches the floor.
We lost our two leading scorers and assists leaders. It will take a few games for the rookies to adjust to the college game and for the existing roster players to expand their roles.
We are going to have trouble scoring, so it's nice to have a bad defense like VCU who relies on the press in our bracket. It's going to take a while for GRIII, Walton, Irvin to take over the offense. Also, possibility of Stauskas breakout year.
I don't know what you wanted him to do in the second half:
The interior offensive line was horrible.
The running backs were horrible.
Denard was a fumble risk everytime he touched it because of the injury, but Borges still found him some plays.
Devin isn't completely ready yet as most of his throws were late.

We just need to admit that we were outgunned severely in the running game on both sides of the ball and needed to either win the turnover battle or get one or two more deep balls to win.
The 3-3-5 gives us the best chance to win. Like it or not, college football offenses have a much harder time having to convert slowly down the field then when they have a good chance to make a big play. Who in the secondary do you think can cover a real Big Ten receiver one on one? Until we can employ lockdown corners, the 3-3-5 soft zone is the smart move.
Good job, Brian, as always. I would suggest that someone create a letter grade system for UFR by position given that a +4 from a linebacker is much different than a +4 from a defensive back. Perhaps, someone could analyze past grades and come up with the appropriate curve for each position?
Example J.T. Floyd's +3.5 is much more impressive than Banks/Van Bergen's +3.5.
Potentially, Floyd would receive an A/A-, while Banks/Van Bergen would receive a B.

I'm not sure how you define a center in small ball, but there's no sane lineup that has DJ Wilson ahead of Jordan Morgan.
