Have always loved your contributions to the board; happy to see your addition to the front page

Totally agree with you…

I’ve always wondered if things would be different if teams treated mobile QBs more like rentals. Every franchise wants their “franchise QB” and oftentimes the mobile QB has success early, gets paid, and then they (and their bodies) fall apart. What would happen if teams decided to draft a new mobile QB every 2/3 years (in the first three rounds or something) and making them your starter in year 2/3? You then let the older (and potentially quite successful) QB walk.

At the end of the day defenses in the NFL are obviously far more athletic and intelligent than in college but there is something to being able to have just 1 more blocker on a play (now that the QB is the runner) that gives an offense an additional advantage. Also, with a run first QB the team will likely never jump out to a commanding lead, and will have difficulty playing catch-up when they need to rely on throwing; but many coaches have made lots of success on playing games close and making the few winning plays in the end.

TL;DR- would love to see a franchise draft and start a new mobile QB every approx. 2-3 years to see if such an offense can be successful long term.

Thanks for putting together…

Thanks for putting together Magnus.

A couple Tight Ends from the turn of this decade are doing some coaching as well.

Kevin Koger is an Offensive Quality Control Coach for the Green Bay Packers, and;

Jon Bills (former walk-on on the team) is the Tight Ends Coach / Recruiting Coordinator at UMass

Agreed. This man wants kids to have opportunities? We can’t fire him soon enough.

I don't know; I think it's…

I don't know; I think it's pretty smart.  NFL rookie contracts are a pretty well defined scale based on where you are selected (with only a couple finer points that end up being some sticking points like in the Joey Bosa rookie deal).  By and large there isn't a tremendous amount of negotiation that takes place where sports agent experience would have a larger impact (as evident by the overall drop in rookie training camp holdouts since the rookie cap was installed back in like 2011).  Save some money on the first deal and either (a) get an agent for your second contract; or (b) take the time to learn more about the process during your first few years in the league.  Smart young man.

I think he should leave

I personally think he should leave. Yes he wasn't exactly a very good X's and O's coach when he was here, but maybe he's learned some things over the past handful of years.

Big time leagues (Big 10, ACC, etc.) aren't exactly forgiving, and maybe he fails again, but how much more high profile is Tommy gonna get? He's won the Ivy some years in a row now, which is the only way an Ivy is gonna get in the tourney. They won't be getting an at large anytime soon. I say give BC a shot. See if he can turn them around. I'd like to see him get a second chance at a high major, and succeed.

Last Night's Michigan Slogan

When I grit you grit we grit

23-20 M Wins

23-20 Michigan over ND

Just because your team wins

Just because your team wins doesn't make you a good quarterback... in some cases it doesn't even make you a fine quarterback,

If you're looking for a good example, then you need not look further than the Jets.  Mark Sanchez was the golden boy his first two years, being the QB for the Jets in back to back AFC championship games.  People kept saying it was the running game and defense that put him in a position to succeed, but all he seemed to do was win.  What difference does it make?

Now the Jets don't have a running game and subpar defense and what happens?  The Jets are arguably the biggest laughing stock in the league.  People are already declaring Sanchez a bust and watching him run into his own teammate's butt and fumbling on YouTube on repeat.

Basically, sometimes even stats (ie. TD:Int, QB rating, Wins vs. Losses, etc.) aren't a good indicator of whether someone is a good or bad QB.  Sometimes you need the eye test and according to my eyes, Tebow just is not an NFL QB.  And it looks like a lot of NFL GMs agree with that.

The only time I've really

The only time I've really seen this team play with effort on the defensive end for a whole game was the MSU game at home, and voila, held them to 57 pts the entire game, let alone the 51 in the second half by Wisconsin yesterday.

Also gotta take GR3 out of the game, or take Nik out and move GR3 to the 3 spot. I'm tired of watching him get worked by bigger guys on the defensive end (not entirely his fault) but then do nothing to take advantage of his offensive skill set and athleticism on the offensive end against these bigger more lumbering players. It's extremely frustrating to watch.

Tuition

I'm pretty sure there is a rule in the Big Ten in which players that transfer from one Big Ten school can transfer to another Big Ten school but that they would have to pay for the tuition out of their own pocket.

I guess it's possible that with upcoming sanctions that that could change but I don't see why it would.

So, if he would have to pay his own way to go to Michigan or instead go to a school in another conference for free, I'm gonna side with going to another school on the assumption that most people would rather go somewhere for free than pay for it.  Of course, this is assuming he wouldn't want to finish his career off at Ohio and the sanctions you mentioned come to fruition.

Im sure his measurables are

Im sure his measurables are inflated a little, but he definitely seems fast on tape, and he is quite tall. Not sure what his stats were like, and up until now, I've never heard of him (so I'd assume he isn't going to be highly rated, atleast not to begin with). However, with his size and speed, he has some tremendous upside. He can be a phenomenal OLB that can rush the passer and play well in coverage. I'm going to assume Michigan will offer him, especially with more teams adopting the spread, you can't have too many OLBs with the speed to cover slots, and size to cover TEs like this kid has.

I agree... let the kid have

I agree... let the kid have his moment in the sun by committing on live TV in front of millions. This is supposed to be one of the biggest moments in these kids' lives, but people have tried to steal his thunder, and I've got no problem in a man taking back control of his moment.
