Favorite on field memory of…

Favorite on field memory of 2023?  Beyond the national championship, favorite memory was Sherrone Moore’s post game interview after beating PSU.  2nd favorite was from that game when it was very clear dropping back and throwing the ball wasn’t going to work so we decided to run it and continue to run it.

On field moment that angered you of 2023?  That we could only play 15 games.  Bring on Georgia.  Bring on FSU.  We will beat them or die trying.

Biggest surprise player of 2023? AJ Barner

Favorite feature of MgoBlog? That it’s still around.  So many sports sites from way back when are gone or absorbed by big media, it’s nice to have a specifically focused site filled with awesome analysis and unvarnished truths.

In the year 3535
Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lie
Everything you think, do and say
Is in the pill you took today

I’ve been tossing this…

I’ve been tossing this around in my head all week and keep coming up with 31-20 M.

Just can’t get passed the line matchups on both sides of the ball. Our DL might be the best in history here in both overall talent and depth, and as Brian said, it’s aimed perfectly at the weakest spots on OSUs offense.
Likewise our interior OL might be the best in the country and we have a willingness to lean on teams.  While OSUs DL is very talented, they only go 5 deep across the board. Look for duo early and often, as well as it’s constraints and counters, those 3 and 4 yard runs will become 6 and 7 yard runs come late in the 3rd.

So you say Cade threw Brian…

So you say Cade threw Brian Ferentz under the bus.  If so, might be the first pass completed down the field to a non-TE in weeks for an Iowa QB.

I think you misinterpreted…

I think you misinterpreted my above statement as meaning Michigan-specific when it was in reply to someone talking about college football in general and it’s collective response to the pandemic.

Now your mention of Schlissel does bring up a possible interesting confrontation between the leader of the University and one of the real powers behind it.  We all see this dynamic in a number of other big schools, do you think the head of U of Alabama would say no to football if all students can not be physically present on campus, if Saban said he prefers to play football in the fall?  You would see that President walk back his statement so quickly.  Why would Schlissel and UofM be any different here?  Granted I would think Harbaugh would be more agreeable to moving football to spring or going along with the administration, but do you think UofM/Schlissel would say no to football if the Big Ten and Harbaugh said something to the effect of having football players on campus during a campus shutdown/remote learning scenario?

Now if you ask me specifically what my thoughts on this all, I say football in spring, and plan for the winter semester to be remote learning only.

Doesn’t the no students on…

Doesn’t the no students on campus almost strengthen the football in fall argument?  We all know football is king, so wouldn’t this scenario play out in the fall?  All students are remote learning, but football players are doing so while on campus.  Likewise, doesn’t keeping most students away from campus almost insure a bubble around the football players?

I too had CBS today after… I too had CBS today after the win. From this year’s release. I still have some from 2017 and 2018 releases as well.

S. Alabama Kicker doinks the upright and crossbar I think the kick they referenced that hit the upright and rolled across the crossbar was this one by a S. Alabama kicker a few days ago. https://twitter.com/JordanHeckFF/status/923732623356252160
Yeah...

Yeah you might want blur those addresses...

Unrelated note, I'm now on the front page of Mgoblog.  Is this my 15 minutes of fame?

We have the announcement We have the announcement times, does anyone have the channel(s) or websites that these various kids will be announcing live on? We can take this traveling server crash show on the road. The only one I know off the top of my head is Gary will be on one of the Bristol networks at 1pm.

Let me just post this here as Let me just post this here as I posted in the army thread from last night. Read the expanded quotes that this article has from Nauta. He states the advantage that both Alabama and Georgia could bring and refers to Kirby Smart by his full name. He then refers to Harbaugh as Coach Harbaugh. How Michigan will specifically get him ready to play in the NFL, etc. To me the expanded quotes seem to point to him referring to both Georgia and Alabama in generic, distant terms and his references to Michigan seem more personal and familiar. I don't know about the rest of you who may have played football, but for me i was raised to show deference to God, family, and your football coach and sometimes not in that order. To refer to a possible future coach of you by his full name just seems to show his thinking in regards to that option. Whatever, we'll find out in a few hours. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2605908-5-star-isaac-nauta-breaks-do…

Yeah I know.... Bleacher Yeah I know.... Bleacher Report link and all but I think that you need to look at Nauta's expanded quotes from a source less biased than UGA's 247 site. I looked at both articles and the BR one seems show that there might be a chance, especially if you parse out the quotes about each college and their respective coaches. Alabama they win championship and do a good job of developing players...etc. I'm familiar with Kirby Smart, etc.... Coach Harbaugh... To me if those quotes are accurate and the extent of what he says about each college, the quotes seem to show, I don't know, a closeness or level of respect for one school over the others. On a tablet so don't know how to embed a link but here you go: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2605908-5-star-isaac-nauta-breaks-do…. Whatever we'll find out tomorrow no matter what.

Good catch

Good catch there.  Take a look at that Job Posting timeframe.  Job only open a week.  They likely already have someone in mind, but have to post the opening to the general public for legal reasons.

Won the PPR 2-QB league by Won the PPR 2-QB league by having Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson as my QBs. RBs weren't good (McCoy and Latavius Murray) but they stayed healthy and a late season pickup of Tim Hightower helped. My WRs though are what brought me the title. Julio Jones, AJ Green, Michael Crabtree, and Doug Baldwin. I picked up Baldwin right before his late season explosion. Couple hundred richer now.

Getting after it with...

Getting after it with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind.

Some tough choices there but

Some tough choices there but I think that you are on the right path.  Only real choice is Mike Evans or Matt Forte at Flex.  Highest ceiling, Mike Evans, highest floor, Matt Forte.  Good luck!

A different thought might be looking deeper at Deangelo Williams' matchup against Denver.  Denver just shut down a sneaky good offense against Oakland, albeit Deangelo Williams is probably a better "play" vs Denver than Latavius Murray was last week.

For everyone else, yeah injuries have been the story this year in fantasy football, especially at RB.  My two backs have been ok to good, Latavius Murray and LeShon McCoy, but are currently healthy which is more than I can say for a number of other RBs out there.  Thankfully in my 2 QB, 1 PPR, 2 Flex league, my two QBs (Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson) and 4 WRs (Doug Baldwin, Julio Jones, AJ Green, and Michael Crabtree) have carried me into the playoffs.

Drinking with friends...

Drinking with friends and then setting up the World Cup draws in FIFA  and try to get USA past the group stage.

Hope these changes work...

Very long-time reader, occasional poster, and all-too-often lately just a lurker.  For the bulk of us who read the site, treading onto the forums and comment sections has been intimidating.  Say one thing that goes against the board's group think or have a differing opinion and at best you just get ignored.  At worst you pick up a troll or two who call you all sorts of stuff.  I hope these changes do bring a more civilized commentary back to the boards, along with a more inviting environment for us lurkers and seldomly seen posters, so that a more diverse discussion on a topic can be seen.

I Gotta Feeling

I think the Blacked Eyed Peas said it the best.  I Gotta Feeling...

Same here...

Same here with my other M shirts and whatnot.  Nothing other than the occasional Go Blue.  I wear my photobomb T-Shirt twice, UMass and the AWAY game against Purdue, and I doubled the verbal up-votes.  Quite a looker Brian Cook must be.

Atwater Brewery

Got a twelve pack of this for the last tailgate and loved it.  Never tried it before and found that it was quite good.

In GR I'm in Grand Rapids and I received my signed copy of HTTV and photo bomb tee on about Tuesday of this week.
Should have kickstarted the 10K fund

If we were all smarter we should have kickstarted the 10K fund and had Brian show up at a random Michigan event in the Terrell Pryor jersey.

F--- It

Still needed a birthday gift for myself and said F--- It!  I need myself a photobomb T-shirt and donated $50.  I'll definately be wearing that shirt when I hit Michigan Football games from now on.

David Terrell

I know he stunk in the pros and hasnt been a great citizen off the field either but what about David Terrell.  His 2000 season was nuts.  13TDs?

Great Idea

Definately a tremendous idea and yes I'd say that the inaugural class should be larger this first year.  I also agree that this MgoHOF should admit specific teams, administrators, etc in some way, shape, or form.  I do also like the idea of admitting one non-revenue sport person a year too.  The problem with this is that the blog at large doesnt know the merits of a gymnast, field hockey, or whatever player.  I know we do have some posters that specifically follow some of these sports, perhaps this would be a way to tap into their expertise on this all and have them present such and such person's case and go from there.  Kind of like how the NFL HOF admits senior candidates.  Lastly this whole process would be a great way to bridge that summer gap between the end of basketball and hockey to the begining of fall football practice.  Definately would go great in the months of May-July or so.

La Fin Du Monde

Drinking a La Fin Du Monde, watching the Tigers, and will start to play some Starcraft II.

The Question: 2

Left-hand side

Isnt the link on the left-hand side, Sour Salty Bitter Sweet underneath MGoElsewhere?  Not sure but the link has always seemed out of place to me but now it makes sense.

Contact Home Insurance First

If you already haven't done so, contact your home insurance provider.  We just had the same issue in our basement here in Grand Rapids, and our insurance agent (AAA) put us in touch with Arrow Restoration, a local home restoration place here.  They said the minute the floors got hit (we had wood laminate flooring) those had to go due to moisture getting underneath and mold growth.  The walls and ceiling (both drywall) were ok as my wife and I were able to affect cleanup immediately once the flooding started (our flooding was from a broken pipe).  They did perform some general cleanup and antimicrobial cleanup on the drywall and that is still in good shape.  They are in the process of replacing the floor this week.  Insurance is covering the bulk of this all with only us chipping in our deductible.

Zombie kill of the week

You sir win zombie kill of the week for me.  Had to make a rare login and even rarer post to say this.  Thank you for making this Saturday night even better.

Also celebrating WifeDay

I'm also celebrating WifeDay too, but I think that I'll be able to force her to punt a few times and let me drive down the hotel and into the bar for some beer and TV.

5 TDs and scary enough 2 FGs for the Good guys

4 TDs and 2 FGs for MSU

We jump out early in the first quarter after MSU realizes that Lippett != Dilithium with 2 TDs to take a 14-0 lead.  We then trade back and forth before we score a TD at the beginning of the 4th quarter.  Spartie makes it interesting with a late TD drive but fail to get the onside kick.

:)

Let me google that one for you :P

What no hooker's thighs available?

Hello:

Stinks that another transfer is going to happen, but yeah this isnt a surprise.  What with him coming in below his advertised height and weight and not playing a whole bunch of football beforehand.  Still with our current success and figuring it continues, could this mean a hello: Anthony Zettell AND Hello: Deion Barnes in the future?  In other words, does this increase the chance that we take another DL in this class?  I am assuming so, but wouldnt be surprised to see us go after a DB.

Perspective of The Ohio State

I'm just curious but what are the fans of our biggest rival think of Denard?  I'm guessing that they are not thinking too much about him at the moment, as there are still nine games to go before we face you guys and the fact that you are taking things one game at time what with a possible National Championship on the line.  Still what is the feeling towards the threat that Denard appears to be?  Concerned?  Don't care? Etc?
