You all are missing the picture on Florida State

Florida State finished 12th in Football Outsider's FEI rankings last year and return 8 starters on O and 9 on D.  I'd take them by 10+ over Michigan on a neutral field in 2012.

LSU is definitely Tier 1

Sometimes crazy things happen like with Landon Collins, but they generally have their home state locked down.  And Louisiana is sixth or seventh in terms of NFL players produced.  It's the most talent-rich one-school state.  Add in a handful of kids each year from the other SEC states and a couple from Texas and you're golden.

Their recruiting appeal is top 5 nationally and 2nd only to UF in the SEC imo.

it pretty much is like MSU and UM

You're Texas' Sparty.

sure the last two years were terrible

but the year before that was a BCS title game appearance.  And a BCS title game win not too long before that.  The track record of Texas' highly rated recruits is pretty good, actually.

I always thought Paterno was holding them back

I also thought Sandusky would hurt them a lot more than he appears to have, but they've got a really outstanding recruiting base.

not so much rebuilding

Texas returns four OL starters from last year, and could return all five next year.  It's just that OL (along with QB) is the strongest position in the class of 2013 in Texas, so it makes sense for the Horns to grab some quality if they can.  Texas is probably only going to take one more OL this year (Darius James).

Longhorn Network

a) Texas didn't do fuck all to screw up college football's structure.

b) Already got paid for the LHN.

Easterbrook is special I enjoy that his column doesn't just give you shitty thoughts about football; you also get shitty thoughts about politics, science, and life in general. He's a true Renaissance Man.
Seriously, judging KSU based on total offense and defense?

That's like something you'd read in USA Today or an equivelant rag.  How about some competition-adjusted YPP based measures, like Football Outsiders or Adjusted Stats use? The intelligent metrics that I've seen all favor KSU over Va Tech.

Not that Isaac won't be awesome

But I wonder what notorious ND homer Tom Lemming would say about him if he wasn't considered to be a Notre Dame lean.  Might not be so effusive.

Longhorn perspective on MSU

I've long thought that there were interesting parrallels between Texas' rivalries and Michigan's.  Like Michigan, our biggest rivalry is a cross-border one.  We even have a similar all-time winning percentage against OU as you do against tOSU.

And Texas has a greater than >2/3 winning percentage against Texas A&M, which is a much more serious rivalry from their perspective than it is from ours.  As mentioned in this post with regards to Sparty, a big part of the Texas-Texas A&M rivalry from UT's perspective is how annoying the Aggies are when they win.  They act like it's the Super Bowl, prom night, and Christmas morning all rolled into one.  Some of their fans make the same argument that all history apart from last year is irrelevant, which means the Aggies are going to surpass Texas if they haven't already.

no Texas offer for Jeremy Jackson I don't know why some kids (like Edwin Baker) like to claim they have a Texas offer when they don't, but it happens. Texas doesn't offer before their first JR day, and they almost never offer except in person on campus.
