I dislike him for a lot of…

I dislike him for a lot of reasons, but this isn't one of them. The retention bonus was part of a deal he signed 4 years ago, so it seems like MSU's intent was to reward him if he coached through last season. He actually fulfilled 99% of the time commitment to unlock the bonus when he coached his last game.

I see what Dantonio did as comparable to someone in a normal job waiting out a bonus or stock vest before quitting, which isn't uncommon. I don't find that unethical as long as the person acts in good faith and maintains the same level of effort / performance through the bonus period.

Remember all the "Harbaugh…

Remember all the "Harbaugh has to go" comments after ND? Where'd those people go?

It feels like he's trying to

It feels like he's trying to convince himself that he doesn't care what people say online, but it seems pretty clear that he obsesses about what people say online.

Deadspin put it best in their article linked below:

"In this hypothetical world, Hoke would've run an offensive play on fourth down, the game would be over, and Michigan would improve its record to 2-5."

I'm with you on this one. I'm

I'm with you on this one. I'm a life-long Michigan fan who also went to Utah. I absolutely hate it when they play each other. Hopefully, this is the last time it happens for a while.

They were nice because we're

They were nice because we're not their rivals and they don't really respect our football program. The way they view us is the same way we view San Diego State or Air Force. We know they're decent teams, but we also know that we should beat them.

I was in Tuscaloosa for the Bama-LSU game in 2009, and it wasn't even remotely the same. Fans were talking trash, arguing and even getting into fights. IMO, they feel like they don't need to waste their time getting worked up for Michigan, and based on last night's game, they're probably right.

How did you know I struck out

How did you know I struck out tonight? You must be a psychic. Regardless, I can assure you she would've come home with me if her stupid friend wasn't such a cockblock.

I think he's currently a free

I think he's currently a free agent, but he was the backup in Houston. He got a start after Schaub got went down and ended up breaking his collabone during his 1st start. That's why TJ Yates was the Texan's starter late in the season and in the playoffs.

Wouldn't it be 8 rings if you

Wouldn't it be 8 rings if you also count AFC/NFC Championships?

Here are a few reasons I can

Here are a few reasons I can think of:

1. Utah has won 2 BCS Bowl games and just joined the Pac-12 this year

2. The school and the state have a large Polynesian population

3. Utah just began construction on a new 80,000 sq. ft. football facility

4. Kyle Whittingham is an excellent coach

5. Utah has had a handful of offensive linemen drafted since Whittingham took over

6. Why not?

Coop's Place is known for

Coop's Place is known for their Cajun Bloody Mary's. If you like Bloody Mary's, then you have to try one. It's by far the best Bloody Mary I've ever had.

Agreed

Jacques-Imo's was probably my favorite restaurant when I lived in Nola. Excellent food, reasonably priced, and a great atmosphere. You really can't go wrong with anything on their menu. I highly recommend trying the Alligator Cheesecake as an appitizer if you've never had it before.

Good question

You're right about the bar code transferring, which makes your original tickets useless. I know of two different people who have been burned buying deactivated tickets to sporting events. There are a lot of people that'll do anything to make a quick buck, and with the odds of getting caught being so low, there's really nothing to stop them.

Everytime I buy tickets from a scalper, I make them come to the gate with me and make sure that the ticket scans before I pay them. If they're not willing to do that, then I find another scalper who is.

I don't live in Michigan and

I don't live in Michigan and had to buy a 4-game ticket pack to go to the ND game this year. I flew in for the ND game, and sold the other 3 games on StubHub for at or below face value. I thought that was a fair way to recoup some of my costs without gouging other Michigan fans. Stubhub charges a 15% commission, so I ended up losing a total of $50-$60 on the 3 tickets I sold.

I was actually surprised with how easy it was to sell on StubHub. All you have to do is enter the number below the barcode on the tickets, and then the buyer can immediately print the tickets upon purchase so you don't have to deal with shipping. 15% is a bit high for the commission, but I really wasn't too concerned about the money and felt like it was worth it for the convenience.

Michigan wins 5-2

Once upon a time? I thought

Once upon a time? I thought we've continuously been teaching them how to play football for over a century now.

Cool story, bro!

No seriously, it was a cool story.

I know "pop" is the regular

I know "pop" is the regular term in the midwest and people rarely say "soda pop." My point is that the accent with the "ah" sound replacing the short O and some long O sounds is a midwest thing.

I couldn't agree more

I was a student at Utah during Urban Meyer's tenure there. During that time, Urban and Kyle Whittingham (current Utah HC and former DC under Urban) would regularly grab lunch at the Student Union and eat at tables with random students. They sat with my group of friends a few times, and they both seemed like excellent people. They asked a lot of questions about our lives, majors, goals after graduation, etc., and seemed geuinely interested in what we had to say. I've been a huge Urban Meyer fan since those days. I'd really hate to see him take a job with a conference rival or with ND.

"sah-dah paap" and "hah-key"

"sah-dah paap" and "hah-key" are examples of the midwestern accent. You don't really hear that in other parts of the country.

Welcome back em0. I haven't seen you around these parts for a while.

Utah for me too. I have a

Utah for me too. I have a degree from there, so Michigan and Utah are my 1a and 1b teams. It was realy tough for me when Michigan played Utah in the season opener during Rich Rod's first season. At the time, I was rooting for Michigan. In retrospect, I'm glad Utah won that one because it was the beginning of a special season that ended with a dominating performance against Alabama in the Sugar Bowl to cap an undefeated season.

I started naming Michigan's

I started naming Michigan's players and it wouldn't let me enter "Russell" and "Cox" because it claims those names have profane text. Cox is somewhat understandable, but Russell? I hate EA Sports so much!

Roll Wave! I also have a Tulane degree. We're going to do big things this year.

You're right. It looks like

You're right. It looks like the writer of the article didn't take the time to look at his data set. The DraftExpress database he used to search for wingspans only lists players drafted since 1991. Also, the database has wingspan data listed for only a few select players that were drafted between 1992-1999. It looks like the wingspan measurement became a regular thing beginning in 2000.

I think this post is worthy

I think this post is worthy of its own board topic. I read Tom's diary yesterday and I wasn't planning on going back to read new comments today. I'm guessing there are a lot of people on the board who are in the same boat.

The best part of being a

The best part of being a "surprise team" is that you don't get voted most likely to be a "surprise team."

In Tokyo right now

I'm vacationing in Tokyo right now and it's been a crazy day. The original earthquake shook the ground violently here for a few minutes, and we've experienced powerful aftershocks regularly over the last 9 hours. I didn't have internet or TV access until about an hour ago, so I'm just now learning about the devistation near the epicenter. My thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by this tragedy.

State championships feel so

State championships feel so good!

This is correct

Harvey Unga and his girlfriend left school after they found out she was pregnant. His girlfriend was a member of the BYU women's basketball team.

This is true

One of my finance professors gives manditory annual seminars to rookies on the Saints. He estimates that about 15% of the rookies actually pay attention to him, while the other 85% goof off, zone out, or take naps.

After you download the roster

After you download the roster to your EA locker, you have to go into settings and load the roster. Hopefully that'll work for you.

That's true, but I'd argue

That's true, but I'd argue that there's a higher concentration of stupid people in the South. I've lived in the Midwest, the West, the East Coast, and the South, and based on my experience, I'd give the award of "most stupid people per capita" to the South.

Please don't tell me you

Please don't tell me you refer to our QB as "Robinson." That would just be awkward.

My guess

They're announcing that they won't be using their first pick on a WR this year. That would definitely be a "major" announcement.

You're right

A real designer would give us something awesome like this:

Really?

"If Rawls ever breaks the lineup on the offensive side of the ball that means Rich Rod wasnt only neglecting the defense, but the offense too."

That statement is total bullshit. You're preemptively taking away credit from Rawls by saying that if he breaks the lineup, it'll only be because of a lack of talent ahead of him, and not because of his talent and hard work. It's one thing to think a kid is overhyped, but it's total bullshit to take away credit from a kid before he even sets foot on campus.

Good work, I think your submission is the best of the bunch.

I don't need your poor explanation of the law

Thanks for showing off your unimpressive legal knowledge, but I understand how the law works. Now if you go back and read my post, you'll see that I'm stating my opinion on the situation. I understand that "not the result of malicious activity" is not a legal standard. I also know that being a threat to society doesn't really make a difference in a criminal case.

I simply stated that Decan Sullivan's death was not the result of malicious activity, and no one involved is a threat to society. Therefor, I would argue that putting someone in jail would be going too far in this case. That's just my opinion, and I'm guessing a lot of people would agree with me. I couldn't care less about what the law says about this case, lawyer guy.

And by the way, your "punching someone in the face" argument was awful. You're attempting to make an argument about how someone can be jailed without malice intended, and you proceed to use an example of going to jail for accidentally killing someone by punching them in the face. In your terrible example, malice was clearly intended when you decided to punch someone in the face.

I can't believe this has 9

I can't believe this has 9 negbangs. I think this is the funniest post I've read all day. +1 to you sir.

I don't understand why you

I don't understand why you think someone should potentially be put in jail. While Decan Sullivan's death was a terrible tragedy, it was not the result of malicious activity. I agree that someone should be fired and the university should pay a large amount for its negligence in this case, but I would argue that jailing someone who isn't a threat to society would be going too far in this case.

I'm still getting the malware message

I just opened Chrome, Firefox, and Safari and got the malware message in all 3.

Paul Kruger?

Paul Kruger?

Woodson

As much as I hate the Packers, I'd love to see Woodson win the championship he deserves.

Maybe RR promised him he'd

Maybe RR promised him he'd use the swinging gate formation on PAT's and Hoke won't make that promise.
