So fucking excited I can't even wait. I can see the stadium from my dorm room right now, it looks so quiet in the night. Tomorrow I can't wait for it to be filled with the maize and blue faithful. GO BLUE BEAT OHIO |

Haha don't laugh but Dinosaurs and Other Failures is my favorite class I've taken so far at Michigan! Okay, so I've only completed one year. But yeah, GEOSCI 103 with JAW is actually really fascinating. I looked forward to class each time. Plus, it's only one credit, and a half-term minicourse. The final was a bit more difficult than I anticipated though... |

No joke, is there an age requirement for this? I kind of want to do this, I'm college age. My aunt did it a few years ago, she's in her forties and said it was a ton of fun. |

I bought a Denard jersey last season. It was an impulse buy one Friday September afternoon after math class. They had a ton of #5 jerseys and had just gotten the 16's in. I only wear it during away games when I watch with my friends, but sometimes I forget. We're undefeated when I wear it btw. I would only wear it in away game instances (gotta wear maize at home!). I'm an 18 year old female. My friend wanted to wear it to a Mathletes or Athletes party last semester, but I didn't let her because I didn't want to risk it getting spilled on. Haha |

They were bidding on an item (Terrelle Pryor's ring!) and Bob Barker said stuff like: -"just to warn you Tate, this is a math question..." -"I know you don't have your academic advisors here..." He also repeated the question really slowly. I think Tate bid "?" on the item. I don't remember for sure what was said but the poster who got some footage did get the hockey team's skit so I would recommend watching it. |

One that I can remember was about women's golf. They did a skit based on Tiger Woods with a bunch of girls, Elin, a car, and other stuff and I thought it was actually pretty funny. He said something like, "oh that was just like my golf game, all over the place." I guess that doesn't sound super rude but I personally don't think that their performance warranted that reaction. |

I see him MWF in Angell Hall. He's always talking to a friend or going up to class, nothing too exciting. I always am happy to see him though, as I actually don't see many football players around campus throughout my day, but some of the freshmen live in my residence hall. It was actually pretty weird, for the Notre Dame game, I saw some of the players who are redshirting/don't travel just walking around South Quad about an hour before kickoff. Wouldn't you think that they watched the game in an athletic building or something? (but I really don't know) |

| 2 years 43 weeks ago | Hmm. This is literally all |
Hmm. This is literally all new to me. I didn't know one thing about his story, admittedly. The stuff they did at Northern sounds really cool. I can only comment because I used to have practice in the Igloo all the time, so I'd look at the plaques on the wall basically everyday. I always wondered who "Mayes" was and why he was the only person who had his own prominent banner. I consider myself attentive, so I'm pretty sure that other students haven't really noticed this. So yeah, he isn't really talked about anymore, which is actually really sad because I just read that article, and he does have an amazing story and it SHOULD be told. |

This is EXACTLY what I've been needing. I've never played organized football (being a girl and all) but I do love the game. I like to think that I know more than the average female, but really I just know the basics such as position types, scoring, and penalties. To be honest, reading about the intricacies, especially on defense, I kind of have no idea what's going on. |

| 2 years 44 weeks ago | Well, I'm a little late to |
Well, I'm a little late to the party, but I thought I'd chime in with my thoughts. First, I do wish there were numbers on the posts, so I knew where I was at. Also, if the title is really long, it runs into the person's username, which is a little messy, and I like to know who says what. Also, I feel that the date and time of each post is a little small, but that's just me. I liked when there were boxes around the comments, but no boxes doesn't bother me either. And the points issue, I'm not a huge fan of it. I'm a faithful reader, but I only comment when I have something witty or useful to say, which isn't that often as evidenced by my smaller point total. Pretty much I've relied on people upvoting me to get me where I am. I'm extremely appreciative for everybody here and their knowledge, so I like to pos them fairly freely. Now, I can't give the upvote like I used to because I don't have thousands of points to burn. So I don't like saying this, but I'll probably not vote on very much any more, because really fast I could get to the point where I don't have any mgopoints to lose. Ehh I guess I'm resistant to change, but some warning could have been nice! But I totally understand the point of evolving the blog, so it's as good as it can be. |

I still don't have mine (Kalamazoo area). I'm trying to patiently wait, but so far every trip to the mailbox has been a disappointment! |
| 2 years 47 weeks ago | I think I'm both an optimist |
I think I'm both an optimist and a pessimist. Before sports seasons, I'm often very optimistic. Like right now, I'm really excited for this season. I'm excited to see how our quarterbacks play out, and I think we can be really good. I'm excited because it'll be my first time being in the stands as a student. Obviously I love summer, but I'm excited to start school (not a statement usually said by me) and I can't wait to see college football's winningest team play its games in college football's largest stadium. That said, I can be pessimistic too. In my own personal life, I'm cautious and have perfectionist tendencies, so I don't always have the rosiest outlook. When things start to go poorly, I tend to have a more negative outlook than positive. For example, I'm pessimistic about the Tigers right now due to their bad luck and injuries. I still love them, but...you know. That said, I think success can be so much sweeter after you've experienced a rough patch and have started to be a little more pessimistic, because it catches you off guard. |
| 2 years 47 weeks ago | OOS percentages have been |
OOS percentages have been around 35%, but there is no steadfast rule dictating what they must be. Since your name is UNCWolverine, perhaps you're thinking about North Carolina, where there are state rules on the number of in state/ out of state students a public university can have. For example, UNC can have no more than 18% OOS/international. |

No I hadn't. I don't really watch shows on the premium tv channels, because I don't get them. |
| 2 years 47 weeks ago | I'm not 100% positive, but I |
I'm not 100% positive, but I think I remember reading that it was for a competitive team. Edit: Yes, from the linked article it says: "Additionally, the university and seven other schools recently formed a governing body, the National Competitive Stunts and Tumbling Association, to govern and develop competitive cheer as a sport." |
| 2 years 47 weeks ago | Excellent point. The bad |
Excellent point. The bad thing is that I'm gonna assume that the general public isn't intelligent enough to recognize this. Since this has the potential to receive a ton of national coverage, they'll use this ruling to support their claim that cheer isn't a sport, while they may be misconstruing what that judge ruled upon. |
| 2 years 47 weeks ago | The argument that I hate the most |
Let me just put it out there that I think it's wrong to dump volleyball in favor of a cheer team because this is always going to stir up controversy, especially because volleyball is considered to be the traditional sport. HOWEVA, cheerleading is most definitely a sport. As a former cheerleader myself I always hated (and still do) having to defend it. It's more than just looking cute and yelling chants. There is both sideline and competitive cheer. For both you have to be able to do gymnastic tumbling skills, have the precision to control your movements, practice your jumps (which are more difficult than you may think), and be able to stunt. The flyer needs to be strong enough to hold as much of her body weight as possible, as well as flexible enough to be in the positions as dictated. The bases and back spot mainly have to sacrifice their own bodies to make sure that the flyer does not fall directly onto the ground should that situation arise. I never did all-star cheer, which is much more intense, but instead was on my school team, and we practiced all year round. In terms of injuries, it's like the sport that sees the most emergency room visits besides tackle football. If it has to do with the aspect of being judged, if diving and gymnastics are considered to be sports, then cheerleading should be too. Pretty much, this case has been kind of sketchy. I also agree with South Bend Wolverine that Title IX was well-intentioned, but needs to be modified in some sort of way. |

Mark Titus is hilarious, despite the fact that he went to Ohio State. I first learned of him from a link on here after one of our players got a trillion this season. I've read a lot of his blog entries, and his older ones are the funniest. He was actually drafted by the Harlem Globetrotters really recently. |
| 2 years 51 weeks ago | So I probably won't be saying |
So I probably won't be saying anything new, but I thought that I would anyways because I know a lot about college admissions. Seriously I read a ton of books last summer, before my senior year. And I thought this would be the perfect time for my first mgoblog post ever (wooooo!). Truthfully, your son has a really good chance of getting in. Like 80%. His GPA is decently in range, and his ACT is good for his first try. I knew of more than a few people that had worse stats and still got in. Plus he's quite well rounded. I don't know much about the art school (I'm LSA) but I think he has a strong chance of being admitted to LSA at least. Some may say that his GPA is lowish, but the school that he first attended is really respected, and the IB program that he did classes with is as well (I come from an IB school myself). And he's in state, so chances are better. Of course, there are always horror stories, so you've got to be prepared. As much as I don't like State, it's the second best public in the state. Grand Valley is also up there, but MSU is more nationally known (if this sort of thing appeals to him). If you're looking to stay in the Big Ten, I'd recommend Wisconsin (better than the credit it's given) or Illinois or Indiana. Purdue is good as well but it's more engineering-based of course. Northwestern is a top academic in the conference, but unless there's a miracle, I don't see him getting in (same with the aforementioned U Chicago or Notre Dame). Sorry, but it's most likely true. :( I would stress finishing and sending in the application as soon as possible. Strongly, strongly urge him to do the essays during the summer (at least a draft). I told myself I'd do this, but then I ended up hitting send one week before the early response date, when I had some friends already in. Plus, senior year gets really busy really quickly. The admissions counselors will equate turning in the app early as a sign of high interest. The change to the Common App will lead more people to apply so it will be tougher. Basically they'll apply for fun, so it will be tough (maybe) to distinguish between the people who really want to go, and those who only want to be able to say that they got in, so that's why essays are important! I totally just wrote an entire novel but hopefully I was of some help! Hope to see him here in a year! |
