Another thing thats connected to this is college football seems very regional compared to other sports. For a lot of big teams, like Michigan, there's a national fanbase, but by and large, Northern teams have Northern fans, Southern teams have Southern fans, etc. Also teams frequently place recruiting emphasis on their home state or surrounding territory, so you are seeing the kids of an area when you are watching a team.
I wouldn't say this is the main reason I like college football, but it is something I have always enjoyed and found interesting.
Why does everyone want ND to have a shitty head coach? We are locked in to playing them for the next century or two, doesn't it help Michigan more if they are a quality non-conference opponent?
Let them get a good coach and "wake the echos," or whatever they are always trying to do. Beating them should be on us.
I'll admit that I've warmed to the music as well. There were a lot of timeouts burned and delay of game penalties that probably resulted, at least in part, from the crowd noise.
My only complaint is that, between the half time shows and the music last week, there has been altogether too much Neil Diamond. Sure, his music makes me want to punch people, but that's probably not what the team is going for.
The most frustrating this about this is that ESPN will pick it up and run with it without giving it an ounce of thought.
At least Rodriguez will stop getting bored to death with questions about the QBs.
For what its worth, the kid that sat in front of me in the student section was from Tennessee, and he explained that the correct way was to say that its great to be a "Tennessee Vol." It always struck me as strange because volunteer seems like it would chant nicely.
I got this email forwarded to me by my boss today . . .
"Subject: Stadium sound test - Friday March 13
I want to inform you that the University will be conducting a sound test at the Michigan Stadium tomorrow, Friday March 13 from approximately 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm.
The test will involve generating a sound that is much like that of a cannon shot. It will only occur a limited number of times, (5 predicted) during the test period.
A noise generator will be placed in front (bowl side) of the scoreboard on the north and measurements will be taken by receptors placed all around the inside of the Stadium bowl. The tests are being done to prepare for sound system changes that might be required with the new sideline structures in place.
Please feel free to circulate this message in the interest of minimizing any undue concern or alarm while the test is being conducted.
Thank you,
Jim Kosteva
UM - Director of Community Relations"

I have Tiger Woods 09 and NCAA Football 09, but I just got both, so I'm still pretty terrible at them. Incidentally, does anyone know of a good updated roster for NCAA Football 09? I've updated mine but only for Michigan, and I may have been a little over optimistic.
I have to say, during the season I was as underwhelmed by our defense as anybody, but now that this has happened, I just hope it wasn't a move to appease the fans/alumni/donors.
I agree. I understand that Feagin isn't a viable option for QB, but with the game going the way it was, it would have at least had some entertainment value. I can only remain interested in Sheridan 3-and-outs for so long.
I had been getting pretty excited watching Threet gallop down the field from time to time, but during the game it was like "Ohhhhh, that is what an athletic QB is supposed to look like."
There was also a fight in south end zone. It looked like one guy had his hands around the other guy's neck and they were both taken away by the police. It was during half time, so one or both of them must be feeling pretty stupid by now.
Not to undercut anyone on the board who would give you a good deal, but the email that I got from the athletic department this morning said that they still have tickets if you can't figure out a better way of procuring them. www.mgoblue.com/tickets
As was said before, the torrent you are downloading is just a file that makes a different program download the video itself. You can get the program you need a number of places, the one I use is at http://www.utorrent.com/

The main reason to have a playoff is that playoffs own.
Also, a team that wins a tournament will have a pretty impressive resume against top teams simply by virtue of winning a bunch of playoff games.

I keep thinking, last year we were gung ho as shit to start a true freshman at QB.
How bad can starting a true freshman at corner be? (famous last words)
