...this. http://mgoblogstore.com/products/view/3187/49 And I actually own one, but I would buy another tshirt if it was simply: BEAT OHIO on one line like the "HAIL" or classic "MICHIGAN" ones. |
| 1 year 1 week ago | Hart |
Gotta be. I remember so many games thinking that the littlest guy on the field was carrying the team. |
| 1 year 1 week ago | Horton. |
He got me watchinig Michigan hoops again after a 5-year hiatus. |
| 1 year 12 weeks ago | Our hall has wings? |
What if there were wings to this hall of fame. Bruised/bloody/leader/novak could be one, media dandies (ala Kieth Stone) could be one, ultimate bad asses (Martin), other sports could be another, perhaps olympians? |

Does Molk rip one at 1:45 of the jersey video? |
| 1 year 24 weeks ago | Chick-fil-a vs Peach? |
I'd rather have Chick-fil-a over a peach any day, so this one is OK by me. |

That video is better than every Michael Bay film and trailer. How can you not get fired up for anything with that many explosions? |
| 1 year 28 weeks ago | I thought I was the only one |
I thought I was the only one that noticed that when I didn't see anyone else complaining about it this week. It sure would have been nice to have the threat of Denard running in one of those last 4 plays. |
| 1 year 28 weeks ago | The late 17-second huddle... |
I've been watching football for 30 years and thes two things stumped me. 1. "Gallon stumbles and does not actually get OOB here." I didn't think he got out of bounds either, but I remember the ref on the sideline doing the timout signal. So, I thought, "oh. Good job getting out of bounds I guess." When I saw the referee wind the clock (which seemed like a very fast move of the chains BTW), I too was not happy with our uninahurryness. How would the Michigan coaches, who were on the opposite sideline I think, know he was in bounds so they could yell in Denard's helmet (assuming we use those) to go no huddle? Do the refs always stop the clock with that signal when it's an obvious first down or is there a special "the clock will stay stopped after the chains move" signal? 2. I thought the ground couldn't cause a fumble, but it clearly did for Denard's fumble. Is there some sort of exception for the QB? It only cost us a field goal, but I was pissed about it and I'm not sure I should have been.

McDonough is nice, but when you have to hear Millen with him <barphs>. |

How are they going to know if they're yelling at a player or a ref? The helmets and athletic builds you say? Well played sir. |
| 1 year 50 weeks ago | I like the rule proposal, |
I like the rule proposal, though I'm reading about it on a blog and not in a newspaper. The possibility of end-of-game comebacks would be great. |

That reminded me of Yoda for some reason. |
| 2 years 6 weeks ago | I remember... |
... seeing him on campus every now and then in (officer) uniform and telling my friends (east coast transplants), "that's Vada Murray!" They were like, "who?" I wanted to introduce them to one of the best players I remembered from my youth, but I didn't for some reason. I think it was because I was running the naked mile. |

... when I'm not watching the tourney, that is. |
| 2 years 8 weeks ago | I love all of this |
I wasn't paying attention at the beginning of "practice-gate", but was the evidence piling up like this for our "major" infractions? |
| 2 years 11 weeks ago | I was in flight during the game |
I landed and looked at the score immediately. Misread it at first. Best part was realizing I can't read. |
| 2 years 11 weeks ago | Was that Izzo's guarantee? |
It seemed pretty weak. Regardless, I hope State fans are asking for their money back around 4pm tomorrow. Go Blue. |
| 2 years 12 weeks ago | Pre-conference big10 teams "in"? |
Does anyone remember how many big10 teams were projected to be in before conference play started? I vaguely remember there being a lot of talk of there being a good chance that 6 teams making it (tOSU, MSU, Purdue, Wiscy, Illinois, Minnesota) with NW having potential of making it 7. It's pretty clear that the big10 is still as tough (though Minnesota and MSU have fewer key players available), that some of the names have changed (Minnesota -> Michigan, NW -> PSU), and the the conference schedule has been a slugfest from top to bottom. So, why only 5 teams now? |
| 2 years 12 weeks ago | I could see it being the opposite |
I'd really like to beat Sparty on Saturday. I could see them getting in as a .500 regular season big10 team. I'd rather they have that locked up going into saturday (they'd be 9-8 with a win tonight) than being in a must-win situation. Bracketologists might say Saturday is still a "should-win" even with a win vs Iowa tonight, but they would come into Saturday's game a little less desperate. |
| 2 years 12 weeks ago | I was going to ask the same thing |
I've been an mgoblogger since August 2010, so I've seen my share of "Hello" articles but wasn't here early enough to see all of them for the 2011 class. So when would we be likely to see the first "Hello" article of the year? I don't want to name names for fear of jinxing anything, but it sounded like recent visits would possibly lead to our first "Hello" post of the class. The hoops team is a nice distraction for now at least, but I hope we start getting commits or April is going to be rough. |
| 2 years 13 weeks ago | Doyle |
Is it me, or does it seem like he's trying kindof hard to build some sort of cartoon character type image? He had a goofy mustache about a week ago, and last night looked like a wannabe Don Cherry? His suit last night was outrageous. Still, I didn't think his color was too bad. |
| 2 years 13 weeks ago | Gritty game by our boys last night |
I still try to close my eyes and picture Stu making an ESPY-worthy shot (which probably would have only sent the game to OT), but alas, it never falls. It hurts to lose that game, but Michigan went into a hostile environment and played one helluva game... a gutty second half. It was nice to see that they could hang when their threes weren't falling. Being the optimist, I keep looking for the experts saying we're in or out, and I was so happy to see a little green triangle today next to our name in the crashingthedance.com at large tab this morning. I'm pretty sure it wasn't there yesterday. |

| 2 years 14 weeks ago | I wouldn't look too much at the effective height |
Ohio State has an effective height ranking of 177, mainly because they have 4 guards and that other guy that makes me hear "he went to Jared" in my sleep. Illinois has lost to teams with effective height rankings of 109 (Texas), 84 (UIC), 124 (Missouri), 60 (Penn State), Ohio State (177), Indiana (101), and Purdue (127). Northwestern (19) and Wisconsin (36) were the tallest teams they lost to, and maybe that says that they overlook the smallish teams and play up to their taller opponents (puns definitely intended). I wouldn't worry about that stat too much. Illinois has the ability to completely go into this game sleeping, looking ahead at the two "State" schools it faces in its next two games. One is a fellow bubble team that used to be the #2 team in the country, while the other is soon to be the #1 team in the country again. Most teams would be looking ahead to those games. Yes, Illinois hates Michigan way more than the other way around so they might be up for this "rivalry", but if they're looking ahead they might be in trouble. Just look at how they did against Illinois-Chicago right before their Missouri game (big rivalry), or against Penn State before Wisconsin. Sure, neither were at home, but the former was definitely an Illinois crowd. I was there with my wife and mother in law. Michigan needs to win tonight, mainly because the allegiance of my 18 month old son is in the balance. Go blue. |
| 2 years 14 weeks ago | Big game tonight |
A win tonight should definitely put us closer to the "in" column. CTD is discussing us. Again, doesn't mean we're in [spoiler: they agree for now], but it's better than being a team that's just developing. http://blog.crashingthedance.com/2011/02/in-or-out-michigan.html |
| 2 years 14 weeks ago | Yeah, but we're at least discussing |
I agree that it's early to get excited, but it's nice to even be arguing about it. I was just hoping we'd be developing for 2012 and a nice sendoff for Zach and Stu, but there's a legit chance now. FWIW, I think Lunardi had us out most of 2009, and we're not even on his 8 teams that our out. FWIW2, crashingthedance.com has us 5th out (don't know how to link to it, but it's on the "at-large selection" tab. Again, glad to be on the alternate list for "the dance" when months ago I thought we'd be hoping to play spoiler. |
| 2 years 14 weeks ago | I agree |
Smotz seems to be having trouble finding his place on this team. Is he the player that just chucks 3s, or is he a 5? I thought the latter was out of necessity until I saw him try to post up last night. I think he'll be good and a major matchup problem once he gets more minutes, which will come once he figures out the defensive side of the ball. |
| 2 years 14 weeks ago | It's hard to contain tourney excitement |
Worst case, I'm glad that I'm optimistic this late in the season. I thought I'd be in "let's see how the kids are developing mode" right now, but I'm starting to think that we'll at least have a chance to blow it by losing early in the Big10 tourney. That's probably technically pessimistic, but it's better than I thought after the IU and NW road games. As far as seeing how the kids are developing, it's great to see THJ grow with every game, regardless of whether it's at home or on the road. |
