It has been a terrible season for sure. Looking at Manuel's track record, he seems to be a bit conservative with money. Likely he lets Howard ride out the last year of his contract with an ultimatum similar to what he did with Harbaugh. (As opposed to a big buy-out and $$ search).
When Bielein and Harbaugh struggled they both blew up their coaching staff, so I predict a similar situation here should Howard be retained for the last year of the contract.
The NIL is a huge deal in basketball mainly due to the one-and-done option + fewer players than in football. It's hard to field a consistent team without it now.
It should be a priority for the University no matter who is coaching the hoops team.
Oddly enough, the best response I've heard about the "Michigan hasn't played anybody yet so we don't know how good they are" excuse came from a Buckeye fan on their Reddit board.
Their point was that "...this is nearly the exact same team as last year but better. We know how good they are. They are really good, except they have a weak schedule."
Even if he doesn't come back (but especially if he does), there seems to be a lot of roster changes coming – whether they be leaving for NBA early or transferring for more playing time.
Yes indeed, a kid did fall from a tree. But was that the Rose Bowl win? I cannot remember, as I was not there.
But, my brother was there, standing next to the tree that kid fell out of. He landed hard and seemed to break his leg. There was another student nearby, and my brother flagged him down to help the fallen kid. The guy replied "No thanks. That's natural selection for ya" and walked away. I believe my brother found someone with a cell phone (rare back then) and called 911.
Bates & Louisville seemed like a lock, but he hasn't signed yet. Ant Wright on Twitter says it's not a done deal. With that being said, he's not a good fit for Michigan's needs currently. They need an experienced shooter at the 3. I would guess the coaches will be kicking some tires in the portal for the next month to see who can help this team.
As an educator and a parent of a middle schooler, this news hits my core. With the frequency of these events increasing, I know it's a matter of time before one happens to my family or one that I know. It's a tragedy that could have a happy ending, should we choose it as a society.
When this flashed on my phone, I collapsed to the ground in defeat, despair, and depression. I really had no words to express any feelings I was having at that time. It's hard to even type these words now without tears.
Every day I try to put aside fear and embrace hope when I teach. But I'm reminded of the danger when I have to unlock my classroom every time I go in and out. It's a safety measure to prevent ease of access. It wasn't that way years ago, but now it's just another part of existence.
My buddy, who grew up next door to me as a kid, has a son who's a high school QB outside of Chicago. His son attended the camp and put on a show. My buddy posted video/photos on FB of his son throwing dimes and pics with JJ. He said it was an amazing experience for his son and thought JJ was a great person to give back already.
My buddy's only regret was that Harbaugh wasn't there to see his kid throw!
I hope JJ continues this camp. It's great for the youth in the area!

Time for a little shake and Baker off the bench! A solid pick-up!

I always thought both MAAR and Eli have had a similar path to greatness from little-known recruits to great leaders at Michigan.
This is good for the team as PG is young, but it must mean someone is leaving?
