Exactly.

RR was on Sam's show earlier in the day, and did not mention LC once. Didn't offer any platitudes, any wishes of good will. So, should his lack of comment be called into question? Of course not. The interviewer never asked, never gave him a reason to say anything.

Actually, for the conspiracy theorists, maybe RR has made it clear that questions about LC are off limits (after all, he hasn't said anything about LC since his first week, other than alluding to the lack of talent, and his need to build a program), and LC has made it clear that questions about RR are off limts. (For the record, I am not saying that I believe that to be the case.)

Actually, LC had plenty of good things to say about the direction of the program, although it had more to do with Brandon's influence. And RR was positive about the program, and made it clear that it was his job to win games to reward the fans.

I don't think things are all that bad.

Bennie

Same here. Dad taught me a lot of things, but, unfortunately, he had no time for any sport that wasn't boxing or red wing hockey. He worked outsdie the home, farmed, and raised me and my 10 sibling.

But, I converted him. Two of my kids are solid blue (i failed on one - got his masters from - I hate to say it - ms.... I just can't finish it.) I converted my wife. All of my inlaws (including a former ND fan - her father worked for ND). So I have done pretty well in passing on what is important. Go Blue.

Thanks for manning up. It helps

make this the best blog, and message board, if you will, out there. Lesser people would not have done that.

A little bit more. move on to page 54.

"I got to know the tradition that is Michigan. I studied it, I followed it, I got to know the people who created it, young and old. I don't think you can operate any other way. And I taught Michigan's tradition to my players, and to my coaches. Yost's Point-A-Minute teams, Chrisler's Mad Magicians, the great players - Willie Heston, Bennie Oosterbaan, Bob Chappuis - the great stadium, the fight song, the rich history. I amde it a point to learn about all of it, and pass it on.

Remember this: WHEN YOU ARE THE LEADER, YOU ARE THE ORGANIZATION. You are the company, the school, the team. You are it. Now if you want to act like some kind of jerk where guys who worked for the program and led the program and sacrificed for the program are not welcome to come back, will, you're not going to have much of a program.  And you certainly won't have a family. But if you respect your history, you'll get a lot more in return." (emphasis in original)

So what do we have? Have there been any reports that RR has embraced the past? Has there been any evidence that RR has done anything but criticize the (immediate) past?  Carr has always said he will stay away (same as Bo) unless he is asked.  Is there any evidence that RR has asked Carr to do anything, including speaking out? Or do you think it possible that RR may have burned some bridges and doesn't feel he can ask anymore?

You want to use Bo's words to criticize Carr, but the words can be used to criticize RR also.

I would suggest that many of RR's problems would not be a problem if he had read, and believed, the words that surround the passage you post. You cater to the Carr haters

This is not an anti RR post, or pro Carr post. It is simply meant to point out that you have used a passage to foster hate for Carr, without considering the entire point that Bo was trying to make.

Page 53. How about Page 50? Context is needed to understand

fully what was said on page 53.

"It's one thing, when you start in a new position, to throw a bucket of cold water on your people to let them know things are going to be different around here from now on. That's just smart.

But it is something completely different to do the same thing to the institution you're taking over. That's just stupid.

Let me explain. One of the most common mistakes new leaders make - and I just can't, for the life of me understand this one - is to ignore the history of the organization they just took orver, or even to disrespect it. That, to me, is the mark of a weak leader - and one who's probably not going to last very long.

Let me be as clear as I can be about this: When you become the leader, do not start your reign by dismantling or ignoring the contributions of those who came before. The history or your organization is one of your greatest strengths, and if you're new to the organization, it's your job to learn it, to respect it and to teach it to the people coming up in your company.

...

When I arrived in Ann Arbor, I was an outsider - born and raised in Ohio, played at Miami, coached at Ohio State for Woody Hayes, for crying out loud - but I already knew a lot about Michigan. And after I got here, I made it my business to learn  more, and fast. "

Disagree.

Sam will not be afraid to ask. He may not, but it won't be because he is afraid it will piss Lloyd off. He may, for instance, think that the function everyone is coming on the air to conclude, is not the time for the question. If that is what he thinks, and I don't know that it is, he should not ask the question.

Yep, he did do that. I'm not about to bash Amani, because I think he is entitled to his opinion, and the fact of the matter is, he may be right, generally speaking. I was surprised by his comments, several years ago, because not too many players had negative things to say about Carr. I don't think Ty Law liked Lloyd too much, which, if I understand the story correctly, might be justified.
Thanks for the comments. Can't blame kids or their families for being concerned. But the bottom line is that this should not affect the number of times M is on tv, and there is no reason to expect bowl sanctions.
Our collie is named Bo, our cats are sam (for Sam Sword), and Fritz. The collie before Bo was Bennie. The collie before that was Butch. Our cats have been named Carter, Harmon, Taylor (Michael) and Whiskers (I don't know how that one got in there).
Penalties Michigan should self impose 60 minutes less of practice time for each of the next two years (3 times the violation each year). We can really fall on the sword and add another year. I can't believe we get nailed for this. But at least it should be over soon.
One place, if you live in or travel to Northern Michigan is the market mall in Mackinaw City, just south of the bridge. There is an art gallery there that has some wonderful Michigan artwork of Bo, the stadium, some rivalries, a wolverine, and more. Not specifically a Michigan store.
I don't think too many knowledgeable fans expect the game against UConn to be an "easy" game. In fact, I think there is a common, though not universal, belief that the game is a dangerous game for Michigan. Given our level of play, the game is not a gimmie. But I think a lot of fans believe that this game will be a good measure of how much the team has improved in this system since 2008.
I don't have any inside knowledge, but this seems pretty unlikely. Dantanio or Hope would be much more likely. Brewster, if you recall, has been complimentary to RR, and was one of the few coaches that came to his defense last fall regarding practice-gate.
I believe one was Mark Snyder and one was Drew Sharp from the free press. I don't know who the third one was, but would also like to know. I wish RR had asked the reporter who asked him if it were smart for RR to take in someone with Dorsey's "problems" (without identifying what those supposed problems were) if it was smart for his employer to hire a reporter with no apparent writing ability, and with no apparent investigative ability or desire.
Manny said he is coming back but JB said they have not yet sat down to discuss it. So, I guess we still have to hear from JB on whether Manny is coming back.
"some of the perception problem that Dorsey has" is because people see him as black, and not as simply a person, and then apply their perception of what a young black man it to Dorsey. Being black is not Dorsey's problem, but it is a problem for many people. A white kid similarly situated with similar values would not suffer the same "perception".
I was one of the few, and they are now dead to me. It is off my browser library.
According to Sam Webb, we will know within the hour. 8:02 a.m. Brother announces at 9:00. Dorsey - hopeful Parker - lock of the week may not have panned out. If he had to say at this moment, Washington. But Parker was going to sleep on it. Ash will be Blue.
Yes, he has been telling us about his "gut" feeling on WTKA on his morning show. Now, he has made Parker to Michigan his "lock of the week".
Valenti wants you to call in. As long as he has the last word, he will win the debates. It is not an even playing field. And the phone calls help him keep his job.
Recruits and players do read the content on message boards, something you would expect. What is going to make this kid a solid asset is his response to the negative content out there.
you are one bitter dude, tater. Child, please.
Like most of us here my first choice, and first check, is with MgoBlog. One of the boards is too "high school" for me, one is nothing more than a collection of teen age girls needing drama to sustain their interest. The one that keeps the focus is ok.
Nothing new here, but consider the source. Not the most reliable board to bet on.
I say one of the three - 100% 2 of the three - 85% 3 of three - 0% But I'm guessing there is one sleeper out there.
Way to go tater! Child!
I don think Dorsey is as much a long shot as you might think. I think Parker is in no matter what Knight does. I think Knight is 80% ours. But the surprise of the season might be Dorsey. With or without Dorsey, I am impressed with the total effort by the coaching staff. Go Blue!
you beat me to the punch. I have exactly the same sentiment. I can understand why some kids would want to play football in Texas. I lived there for a while, and nowhere is football, at all levels, held in the same regard as it is in Texas. But no school in the country can compete with Michigan as leader and best.
Sorry, I didn't see the other thread started last night. I read the threads from top to bottom.
I think it is a quote from an interview with Vlad Emilien, when he was asked whether he had any thoughts about Mgoblog. Vlad replied "it's ok, inaccurate, but it's ok". I would not consider the source I got the information from to be particularly accurate, but that is the story. I do not have the direct quote, or the name of the person who did the interview. Mgoblog, whatever its faults, is the best blog and board out there. But I can understand that players read a lot of stuff (speculation, or just plane crap) out in space that they know to be less than accurate. I have to wonder what effect some of this stuff has on recruits.
In honor of Bennie Oosterbaan, and the rich tradition of Michigan sports. 3 time All-American in football. 2 time All-American basketball standout. All Big Ten baseball standout. 9 varsity letters. Bob Forman, in 1979, said "If there is an All-American among All-Americans, then this man is it. Mr. Bennie Oosterbaan." Bo said, "perhaps no one cherished the Michigan spirit as much as Oosterbaan." "He believed in Michigan and wasn't afraid to say so." Tradition means something. Not every school has it, and no one has what Michigan has. All too often, we forget that.
Strong finish again for Rich. Could get better if there are spots available. This was a pleasant surprise.
It is more than just a waste of athletic ability. Assuming, for the moment, that there is some truth to the reported facts, it could also be the waste of a life. I join those who wish him well, and hope that he can, indeed, turn things around.
But Drake should not be on there. So 25 is correct. No?
A new tradition - rushing the floor after every win. Keep the fans in the house excited, maybe the players too. (I wonder how they feel about it?) Anyway, what is the harm? In the football stadium, the complaint is that the fans sit on their hands and don't make enough noise. This may not have been the most significant win in history, but it is important for this year.
I second Card and Ravens I love Mike Hart, but I just can't root for the Colts.
Any chance someone could name the recruits in attendance? Thanks
This might be the first time I agree 100% with this poster. But I have to ask, if you are truely non-viloent, why are you so hateful in your comments at other locations? You have to know that words can incite violence. And while name calling is not itself violent, it can lead to violence, at least when one is not protected by the internet. Now, it is just a question. Please don't get in a rage.
I thought he was impressive. Is this his last visit?
Delete my posts, please. The childish sniping just isn't worth it. My point was lost about 1:35 p.m. yesterday.
I hope I am wrong but I think the shoulder injury might be something that Tate has to live with, maybe forever. I would like to hear what a sports MD has to say about that. I feel for him re: the staph infection. Unfortunately, staph infections are common today. I hope Devin redshirts, even though he is enrolling early. I think if RR has to play another freshman QB, we are in for another rough year, no matter how talented he is.
I guess I have to ask, did you read the post? I guess I assumed (mistakenly, as it turns out) that readers took in more than headlines - that readers actually digested content. And I thought one of the desirable traits of a post was a catchy subject line. The post is in no way derogatory and the headline did not reference the content of the post being replied to. But, I guess I should have understood some people stop reading at the end of the subject line. Are you taco from the other board?
Meyer isn't the only sleazy recruiter, but he is up there. Way ahead of Carroll, in my opinion. I don't know why it took so long for fans to realize that, and I don't understand why there are still a lot of Michigan fans that want him for our coach. I don't care how good he is on the sidelines (and I don't know that he is appreciably better than most other good coaches on the sidelines). I don't want questions about integrity circling around the Michigan program that a coach like Meyer would bring. If we had no coach, and if both coaches were available for the picking, I would much rather choose RR in a heartbeat - no second thoughts at all. Even if it meant fewer national championships.
I hate your blog, and have no respect for your opinion or insight. Not trying to start a fight, but what is wrong with telling people you like what they do, if, in fact, you like what they do? If a person with a question started out with my subject line, do you think the question would be answered? I think this blog is offbase at times. (I hope that doesn't cost me.) I think statistices are manipulated to support a desired outcome, rather than an objective outcome. But I like the blog, and I like to consider differing opinions. And I don't have my own blog. If I don't like a blog or website, I guess I can always stay away.
I miss Bo, and the option, and knowing that on most saturdays, we were going to kick the crap out of our opponent.
dont forget that Wilbon also said RR was gone at the end of last football season. I think Wilbon is no better or worse at his job than Kiffin is at his.
I don't think a field with a block M on the 50 yard line could be described as a "classic" design. The block M came in some time after 92 - 93. I like the classic, clean look of a football field with no logo on it, even the beloved block M. MICHIGAN in the end zones, however, I think has been around a long time, and I would consider that "classic". One cannot ignore the power of the dollar these days, and though I am glad Michigan has resisted advertising in the stadium, I don't know that they can resist forever.
Bo Man, I loved that guy. What really stood out to me, is his comments regarding the players. That team lost players before the season started. After the season started he was asked about the 5 or 6 starters he lost after the season started. I think the comment was "you lost 5 or 6 starters on defense". The response ... "we are without probably 5 staters in this game - maybe 6 - we have one who may no be able to start - and if that is the case we are playing a lot of young people. But I don't feel bad about that. They are enthustiastic and WE may make some mistakes and things like that but we will get after them." He didn't say he didn't have the talent, or that the cubbord was bare. (I know, I know, different situation, but the point is, no matter what caused the problem, he didn't whine about it. He did not blame anyone else. He didn't insult the players he did have.) He was positive and enthustiastic, even when he wasn't talking to his players. I have to believe that rubbed off on the players. It is too bad that I have to say this, but I am not anti RR. I want him to win. I want him for our coach for the next 25 years. I am simply making a comment about styles, and how I think those styles affect the guys that have to go out on the field and perform.
points how the hell do i go from - 12 points to - 17 points? Content? What do the points mean, anyway? Can I redeem them for coffee? If not, give me -1,000,000, because, although I appreciate the website, and the differences of opinion, even when the owner's opinions are a pos, I have 0 respect for the intolerence BC shows on the board. I can't even listen to WTKA on mondays anymore.
"Ill listen and learn first" I only wish RR came in with that thought, instead of " i know what I am doing, get out of my way".
