| 1 day 15 hours ago | In my experience, they |
In my experience, they usually will have posted a job on the job board that they are trying to fill. If you respond to the posting, they'll usually get in touch with you if they like your experience / resume. Even if you're not qualified for the specific position, these are still really good people to know and have a relationship with, as they'll keep your resume on hand to give to their other clients (they make a commission off of filling open positions, and that commission is usually a % of your agreed-upon salary, so they're incentivized to help you negotiate a competitive salary). It doesn't hurt to get on the phone with them if you can and talk yourself up a bit. If you're interested in moving back to the Detroit / Ann Arbor area, and are interested in continuing to work in start ups, I'm connected with a lot of people through Venture for America, many of whom work in the M@dison building downtown. Not sure how many engineering firms are there, or are hiring, but I could put my feelers out there if you're interested. |

I've had very good success with LinkedIn. It's a great way to meet recruiters, and their job postings are usually kept up with. |

MCalibur, your writing style has a very wikipedia-like effect, in that within minutes of opening up one of your diaries, I soon find myself with three more browser tabs open linking back to your older stuff. I've usually already read those older diaries. I still read them again. Glad to have you back. Hope we can expect at least a couple more this offseason. |

I've been waiting for a diary like this. I just got a copy of his book Coaching the West Coast Quarterback, and was toying with the idea of doing an analysis during the season, probably at mid-season, to discuss Devin's technique compared to Borges' ideal QB archtype, as outlined by the book. Thanks for writing this up. |

Guys' family keeps trying to foil his recruiting efforts at every turn! |

I swear to God you never listen to a word she says. |

I think Borges is trying to emphasize the use of tight ends over slot receivers, given the emergence of flex guys like Funchess, Jake Butt, and Khalid Hill. It could be that the staff has put less emphasis on bringing in tiny slot bugs, and more on putting in two TE sets to attack the seam. |

I vote for something related to Heiko's Borges interview. |

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite weekly posts. Keep up the good work. |

This is exactly the kind of analysis I come here for. Thank you for putting the work into the animated schematics. Very helpful visual aid. |

I hope he answers your question, but in the event that he doesn't, I think a great addition to the site in terms of usability would be to ping your account when someone responds to one of your comments. I personally am pretty bad about going back to look at my previous posts to see when people have responded to my questions or statements. It'd be nice to know when I've been responded to so I don't have to check myself. /rant |

You are my most-favorite diarist. This is great. (with apologies to LSAClassof2000, whose statistical analyses I also hold in very high esteem). |

I got something similar. Didn't open it, assuming it was phishing or something. Not sure $20 is worth the trouble for me. |

You should ask where he thinks Alex Kozan will end up. |

For me, as an analyst, I just got sick of Google search results taking me to Bleacher Report. Once I found out about this place, and the level of thoughtful analysis Brian puts into the UFRs, and what guys like The Mathlete and LSAClassof2000 bring to the table, it was game over. Lurked for a couple months, then once I joined up I never looked back. |

I don't suppose this will get us out of playing App. State in 2014, since they moved up to D-I, right? |

Strong proponent of transitioning from old, archaic term "football" to newer, trendier, and sexier term "handegg". Truly, he is a visionary. |
