Fair enough, but just FYI it can be both! I made it a list (per my above comment) but I can still type in a selection and it'll trigger the vlookup.

Thanks Seth.

Thanks Seth.

When I downloaded the sheet, the Choose a Team in cell B3 was not a list. I had to manually make it so.

For anyone else experiencing this issue, here's how to fix on your end:

1) Click into cell B3

2) On the Data tab of the ribbon, click Data Validation

3) In the dialogue window, select "List" from the "Allow:" drop down menu

4) For "Source", enter "='Team Sheets'!$A$2:$A$88"

Cheers!

Look I don't want Howard back anymore than you do but this is a terrible and self-defeating thought process.

Trying to win the play, by tackling... the guy without the football? Agree with the first part of your analysis, but he doesn't do it right away. By the time he's made up his mind to tackle Loveland, Corum is pretty much gone.

It just strikes me as a moment of frustration by a guy who got beat.

What was up with that DE…

What was up with that DE tackling Loveland on Corum's overtime TD? He just drills him for seemingly no reason. Did he think he'd push him back into Corum's path to slow him down? Unlikely since Corum was already cutting passed both of them by the time the guy wraps up Loveland. Just a frustration play?

Truly bizarre.

I too have many memories of tornado sirens from my childhood in Swartz Creek. The ones in Chicago last night took me right back to them.

Having recently traveled to Spain, I can tell you you will not be able to use YTTV outside of the US. You will need a VPN. I used NordVPN and it was a pain in the ass. I had to constantly change servers between various US cities to avoid YTTV's VPN server detection.

I would recommend bringing a personal device with you on your trip if you can't install a VPN on your work computer. Either that or find some other way to stream because you will not be able to use YTTV.

Best of luck.

What is the best way for a layperson to identify what kind of coverage a defense is in? What are some hints or clues to key in on so we can identify what our offense is up against on any given play.

I'll hang up and listen. Go Blue!

I owned a 2013 328i X-Drive…

I owned a 2013 328i X-Drive when it was about 2 years old. Bought it with about 28K miles on it, certified pre-owned. It was the best, most fun car I've ever driven, and I miss it terribly.

I'll caution you though, the cost of ownership is no joke. Gotta use at least mid-grade gas, and as is the case with most European "premium" vehicles, everyone is going to up-charge you for any and every thing they possibly can. Expect oil changes to cost 25% more than you'd otherwise expect.

I couldn't drive past a body shop without spending $1K... Worth it, though. Man that thing was fun as hell.

Oh, and if you live in the midwest, or anywhere with winter, spring for the X-Drive. It's worth it in the snow. Heated seats and steering wheel are a bonus too.

One last thing: they hold their value very well. I ended up selling mine (private sale) for more than I owed on it. Wouldn't say I came out ahead, given how much I put into it, but that was a nice surprise when it came time to say goodbye.

R-Squared should be interpreted as the % of the dependent variable that can be explained by the model. Anything less than 0.5 is basically worse than random chance. There is no correlation, and presenting it as such is misleading.

I get that this is a sports blog, not a science publication, but if we're going to try to use advanced statistical techniques to make a point, let's not misrepresent the results for the sake of a one-off article.

Brian has mentioned multiple times on the WTKA Round Table that the switch to an RPO-focused scheme only changes things for the QB. Everyone else's (OL's, RB's, WR's) responsibilities on a given play stay the same.

You should not expect any difficult transition for anyone but Shea and Dylan. We know Shea has tons of experience running RPOs in high school and at Ole Miss, so the biggest thing to watch will be how Dylan adjusts to it, but I'm not worried.

I re-located for work this…

I re-located for work this past summer, from Metro Detroit to Chicago. The hiring company covered all of the costs of my move plus a little extra as a re-lo bonus. It was absolutely worth it, as the job I'm in now is outstanding and my lifestyle is a major upgrade from my previous situation in Metro Detroit.

However, you have to remember that any re-lo bonus is counted as taxable income, and it was not a pretty situation for me come tax time earlier this year. I still got a federal refund, but it was significantly less than I expected, even given all of the tax changes this year. This didn't occur to me at the time, and I could have done a better job of knowing that would come back to bite me in the future. Just be very aware of your tax situation, should you take a re-lo bonus.

I've been fortunate enough to meet Colby and Cooper (hope I spelled those right) in person, and I can personally vouch for the authenticity of their "Go Blue"s. They're good kids, and they love Michigan.

Washington @ Auburn will be a "bigger" matchup in terms of pre-season team rankings, but it won't draw nearly as many eyeballs at Michigan @ ND. It's also a night game. Seems like the obvious choice for Gameday in terms of ratings.

The ending was epic and will soon be spoiled for you. It will be captured by the zeitgeist before long, moreso than any prior Marvel movie.

Seconded

YouTube TV is great.

It is baffling

And it flies in the face of what I think a lot of people expected about Harbaugh when he was hired. I think most people assumed he'd be the kind of head coach who would cut ties with underperforming assistants. At least I did.

I'm very confused about what's going on with our offensive coaching staff. Given Frey's exit, the Enos saga, and Pep and Drevno remaining, it all feels like mismanagement. It's just not what I expected from Harbaugh.

Hopefully perforance improves this year and I'm proven wrong. I just don't see how it will.

if this is true

If you're truly tired of talking about this, and you really mean it, maybe you should consider shutting down this blog. This clearly used to be a passion for you, and it's increasingly clear that it no longer is. You're a talented, smart guy who could easily find work doing something you love that fulfills you. Why waste your life putting out words about something that no longer makes you happy? Reading this feels like it's a chore for you.

Excellent

Love these articles. Thanks for putting in the work.

I use NordVPN

I think I pay about $6/mo for 12 months. There are tons of others out there, but that's the one that I like. It's very, very easy to use. That should enable you to get past any IP blockers.

I assume you have Comcast or DirecTV as a content provider, so you should be able to stream the game like you normally would in the states, by directing your traffic through the VPN.

Love YouTube TV

Just signed up for this service at the start of CFB season. However, it should be noted that the streaming quality is poor. Can't quantify it, but for me it is noticeably worse than DirecTV or Comcast.

Still, it's worth it for me to not have to give Comcast my money.

Impressive

Most impressive.

Unfortunately no

Beer and beer only. My ultimate frisbee league would go there after games this past summer, and I remember that being an unfortunate yet common complaint.

Brew Detroit

If we're throwing out suggestions, I'll put one in for Brew Detroit. It's usually pretty slow and could easily accomodate a big crowd, with plenty of TVs around. Also, that's where they brew the delicious Stroh's Bohemian which is entirely local to the D (and a handful of other craft beers).

They don't serve food but they do let you bring your own in, and Mudgies is just down the road.

Edit: Bohemian*

Not only that

Indiana was also a pretty good defense last year. I believe they finished the year ranked 31st Nationally in defensive S&P+ and 7th in the B1G. Not exactly the ideal team to get your first ever start against.

Edit: 7th in the B1G

Boone and Boose??

No way that gets confusing for the poor announcers / PA guys working Cincinnati games this year.

Hey, they got your click thru

Just sayin'. I upvoted your comment FWIW.

I enjoyed my 2013 Focus hatchback.

Apparently some folks in Detroit liked it so much they took the wheels off of it. Twice.

Probably explains why I was paying close to $400/mo to insure it there...
