I hope he answers your question, but in the event that he doesn't, I think a great addition to the site in terms of usability would be to ping your account when someone responds to one of your comments. I personally am pretty bad about going back to look at my previous posts to see when people have responded to my questions or statements. It'd be nice to know when I've been responded to so I don't have to check myself.

For me, as an analyst, I just got sick of Google search results taking me to Bleacher Report. Once I found out about this place, and the level of thoughtful analysis Brian puts into the UFRs, and what guys like The Mathlete and LSAClassof2000 bring to the table, it was game over. Lurked for a couple months, then once I joined up I never looked back.

This is one of the better title changings I've seen yet.

I used to get emails from those guys, hoping I would remember to read each of them, but it got to be spammy and now I think all of them filter directly to my "nonsense" folder. Every once in a while I'll dig through them and find some interesting tidbits.

1) They will be difficult to watch this season, but I will be keeping an eye on them. What's the word on his defensive coaching staff? Did he finally get Casteel?

2) Man, I'm conflicted on this too. It would of course be better for the B10 if MSU wins, but I kinda want to see Sparty get stomped. Doesn't matter, MSU will win convincingly.

3) Notre Dame is going to put in another extremely mediocre season, and losing to most (if not all) of their major rivals will spell the end of the Brian Kelley era.

4) My roommate just graduated from OU after having lived in Oklahoma his whole life. He's a pretty cool guy.

5) I'm with you, but unfortunately I think they're going to be outstanding for the foreseeable future. Unless some sort of huge scandal breaks, they're going to keep getting ALL OF THE 5 star recruits. Say what you want about Saban (such as DIRTBAG) but the dude can coach.

6) I think Steve Spurrier has the ability to make South Carolina a winning program, but I honestly think he just doesn't care that much anymore. He was very successful at Florida and now he's pretty old, and just putting in enough effort to stay where he is. Who's going to fire Steve Spurrier? Fuggin' nobody.

7) Sooner than you think. Also, you're asking a lot of questions about SEC coaches. Can we please talk about Danny Hope's moustache? Which goes first, his facial hair, or his job?

8) I think Auburn was kind of a flash-in-the-pan. They've failed to match any of the productivity they had with Cam Newton, and I don't believe they'll get there again, unless they catch another lucky break. Alabama is the superior school of that state.

9) I don't know about you, but this is singlehandedly the thing I'm looking forward to most about this (non-Michigan related) college football season. John L. Smith. Coaching at a brand-name SEC school. I have no other words, except I cannot wait.

10) I think Dantonio is pretty entrenched at MSU. I don't think he wants to be anywhere else, and MSU loves him. I think they'd probably throw as much money as he wants at him to keep him in place. Narduzzi is a lock to take a head coaching position at a smaller school in the next couple years, IMO. Next time one of the directional Michigan MAC schools is looking for a new HC, I would expect Narduzzi's name to be in the mix.

I'm going to see Justice and M83 in Toronto this weekend, so I've been listening to a lot of both of those groups to get myself jacked.

I actually kind of like the Twitter idea a lot. The one downside I can think of is that it'll be open to like, anyone on Twitter, so there will probably be lots of trolling and junk tweets to sort through. I never moderated one of the CIL ones last year, so I'm not sure how annoying that was to deal with, but yeah.

Also, CIL felt like a community last year and was fun to participate in. Felt like you were watching the game with a virtual group of dudes, and that was fun. The twitter thing may feel less inclusive, if that makes any sense.

Stanford does a lot of the same fullback flare concepts with their fullback.

Anything on Lake Michigan is going to be superb. Lake Huron is pretty rocky (like, lots and lots of really big rocks, for like no reason), and Lake Superior is pretty cold, most of the time.

I like South Haven, Holland, and Grand Haven beaches the most, though Luddington is also really nice.

A quick out to the flat or bubble screen can go for 20 yards just as easily as a corner or post if a LB or CB misses a tackle in open space, yet that play probably wouldn't be considered as risky or aggressive as a 20 yard bomb. The important figure here, I think, is YAC. I don't know if that statistic is accurately tracked or not, but I think that would be very telling.

They did the best they could with the budget they had. If you read the interviews the producers / creators have done regarding that, you'd understand that they had to beg HBO to give them more money just to do the Battle of Blackwater Bay (which I think they nailed, imo). All in all, when you look at the things they've left out of the series, it's all been for the good of the show. When you hold the show to the same standards as the book, you'll always leave yourself disappointed, but that's been the case with any visual adaptation of any book ever. I think they've done a splendid job.

I'll be spending the weekend with my fingers crossed. I interviewed with Team Detroit yesterday (marketing/ad agency in Dearborn) for a web analytics role. Really hoping I get it! I'm SO ready to get out of Cleveland, and back to Michigan.

I choose a system were all FBS teams throw their names into a hat, which is shuffled and drawn lottery style. The top three winners then proceed to a three-way rock-paper-scissors match, where they play three rounds (it's go on shoot, we're not communists), and the top two, after best of three, play each other for a chance to go to the national championship NEXT year. Now this is where it gets tricky... the 4th team is voted on by a knowledgeable brain-trust committee of Norwegian ice-dancers, who also have supreme executive power to veto any decisions made during the RPS process. The games will be held only in foreign countries at a location no further than 3 miles from an active volcano.

At least it would be less confusing than the current system.

GLBC is actually in Ohio City. It's a really great location, right across the street from another, relatively new microbrewery/restaurant called Market Garden, and just a couple doors down from a highly recommended beligan beer emporium called McNulty's Bier Markt, which I think anyone who loves belgians should check out at some point in their lives. You can go wrong with a night in Ohio City.

I miss Founders like crazy. I graduated from Grand Valley last year, and spent much of my senior year there as a mug club member. One of the best years of my life.

Ace, I think the reason you got so much backlash from your tweet yesterday is due to the fact that looking at a composite average for OSU and PSU and comparing that against Michigan's average is not a useful comparison. I see what you were trying to do, but it doesn't make a lot of sense from a statistical standpoint. For one, PSU and OSU aren't one team, so right away you're not comparing apples to apples. If they were one team, and their numbers added up to some 16 player team, then the numbers might make sense to compare, but since they're separate populations, you just can't do it. Secondly, PSU's numbers are worse than OSU's so you would expect them to drag the average down.

I've never been a fan of comparing recruiting classes against each other this early in the process. When you're comparing a group with a sample size of 17 against ones with only 8 players... it's just not a useful comparison. OSU is putting together a solid class. However, their average ranking is inflated because of a small sample size bias. While their average exceeds ours, our denomitor is higher and our average is dragged down by the few 3 star commits that we have.

While you can't say one is better than the other at this juncture, it is helpful to note that given Michigan's greater sample size, you can distribute the risk a little easier over their recruiting class. For instance, Ohio losing a player from their class (decommitting, flunking out, etc) might cause their average ranking to increase due to that smaller sample size. Does that actually improve their class? Probably not. However, adding another player, say a 2 star fullback, would decrease their rating because it increase the denominator. Michigan's average, on the other hand, is more stable and less susceptible to fluctuation. Whether that makes their class 'better' or 'worse' is inconsiquential at this point in time.
