Fantastic breakdown! However…

Fantastic breakdown! However, as I'm reading it, this just looks like a variation on the inside zone/zone read play to me. I don't know that I could rightfully call it belly. Belly is a staple of the Wing-T offense which has the core principal of involving a block down, a block out, and a block through at the point of attack. Without a wing/H leading through at the point of attack on a LB, It's just not belly to me.

I'll be there in section 307.

I'll be there in section 307.

I live in the

worst state ever and i have no idea what school that logo is from. Did tsio get downgraded to high school logos? If they keep losing maybe it should be considered lol.

Get on your knees

Brian, in the review you mention that Sagesse going down was more luck than anything in your opinion. However, for once, Sagesse deployed text book technique, we're just not used to seeing it. As a defensive lineman, when you get double teamed, you are taught to do one of two things, either split it or sit it. Basically, when you feel the pressure of two guys on you you either have to get of the block and make it in between them, effectively freeing yourself up and still keeping your gap, or split it which is what Hulk usually does. The other option is to sit it, where when you feel yourself going backwards, you grab hold of the two players blocking you and fall to the ground bringing them with you. What this does is creates a mass of bodies the the HB is unable to run through. Essentially Sagesse erased two blockers and his gap all in one motion. Now as a coach, you would like to see him do this a little closer to the line of scrimmage, but it's still not a bad play.

Fist Pump

The only time you can see douche bags fold quicker than Sparty is when the Jersey Shore guys do their laundry.

For everyone who fears

Greg Jones as a spy, take comfort in that actually being the worst way that State could defend Denard. As a football coach spying a man up has this mirculous little effect on the psyche of the other players on defense. They begin to relax a bit thinking,"I don't have to make tht play, Jones has him." I've seen it time and again. Which is fine, as long as Greg Jones gets there. However, if a lineman happens to start blocking Jones, or even just gets  a piece of him, then you have no one responsible for DENARD! States best option would actully be to bltz the holy bejeesus out of Michigan, fill all the gaps with a man and get Denard in the backfield. It's the only way to stop him.....from running.

Wal-Mart Wolverine from out of state

Personally I am a life long Michigan fan but did not go to UM (I decided to play D3 football instead) and furthermore am not a native or resident of the state.

Ithink a lot of the non traditional out of state fans have more to do with a hatred for their home state team. At least in my case, when I was younger, I could not stand the way Ohio State fans act. I developed a deep hatred for them and their pompous ways such as putting a t in front of OSU.

So when I learned that there was a team and most of a state that despised them as much as I did, I instantly became a follower. 18 years later, I still live 50 miles from Columbus, and love the Wolverines more than ever.

Good Stuff!

How are you editing/designing these? As in what program are you using?

It is better To put that weight on Campbell now. Mostly because there is no way he could gain that much without the coaches noticing. I know at most schools they weight they players before and after every workout for health reasons and replacements of fluids, but it also serves to let coaches watch how players are doing. That much of a weight gain is intentional.
Am I the only one who noticed That the shot should never have counted? I tried to read all of the posts to see if someone had already mentioned this but I didn't see anything to this effect. If I missed it I apologize, but the clock DID NOT START until after Turner had already taken a full dribble. The shot left his hadn't with .2 seconds left and by my count it takes longer than .2 seconds to complete a full dribble. Meaning that the shot when reviewed should never have counted because the clock was not started properly. I can almost guarantee that if you compare that whole play to the supposed 2.2 seconds on the clock, it runs out when Turner hits half court and definitely before the ball leaves his hand.
The Defense in question I don't have time to read the rest of the responses right now so I apologize if this has been answered already, but IME the hybrid defense in the first picture looks like a modification of the old 5-3 monster defense. Or possibly an even easier explanation is that it is just a 3-4 variant with everyone in man coverage.
The Brown run play in question. I watched this about ten times and from what I can tell it is a zone read. If you'll notice Forcier is staring at the backside DE who is up the field. He sees this and hands the ball off to Brown. If the DE and gone hard down the line he would have pulled the ball from carlos most likely. Further proof to this can be found in the wide receivers to the far side of the screen. The outside 2 block down field while the third runs the bubble option in case Tate had pulled the ball
