| 1 day 22 hours ago | Orb laid an egg |
Oxbow dominates the race from the start. Yikes.
|
| 2 days 1 hour ago | Orb betting odds update |
4/5 per NBC coverage
Trifecta I'd put down: 1. Orb 2. Govenor Charlie 3. Mylute |
| 2 days 1 hour ago | They won't |
Pre-race coverage is scheduled at 4:30 but the race isn't until 6:18. They'll wait until hockey is over to cut into it. Pre-race coverage is currently on NBC Sports Network now anyways. |
| 2 days 2 hours ago | Sitting this one out too |
As I think Orb should win but they are expecting his odds to be 3/5 come post time. I bet on a bunch of exactas with Orb involved in the Kentucky Derby but didn't hit. If I were forced to bet, I'd probably mess around with a few exactas or trifectas with Orb winning and boxing the place and show. I like Itsmyluckyday as well for some reason too. Goldencents is sort of a speed horse, correct? So he could do well i this shorter distance but it sounds like the trainer is messing around with his diet and training all this week so he could either do real well or be a flop. |
| 2 days 3 hours ago | Preakness |
The 2nd leg of the Pursuit to the Triple Crown is upon us with the Preakness Stakes post-time set at 6:18pm this evening on NBC. Orb, the winer of the Kentucky Derby two weeks ago, is the clear-cut favorite to win as he sits at 10/13 odds per Bovada sports book. Orb has been training well all week. Departing, Mylute, and Goldencents are said to be the main contenders according to the bettings odds. If anyone is interesting in the races before-hand and pre-race coverage, 2:30pm to 4:30pm on NBS Sports Network there is coverage |
| 2 days 6 hours ago | yeah... |
Bentley does have an obnoxious voice lol. Almost worse than Seans. |
| 2 days 6 hours ago | Yes, it does |
Which is a real great aspect of ESPN Insider. "The Den" forum is a great place where Tom VH, along with Rothstein and the lovely Chantelle Jennings, are at most of the day interacting with posters and answering quetions. They are real down-to-earth people and will answer back to you quickly. Basically the opposite of The Beaver on Scout.
If you're into fantasy sports, there's a ton of great insider articles on that, which of course includes the popular Eric Karabell and Keith Law.
Someone mentioned it above, but it takes a couple months for ESPN the Mag to come your way but it does eventually come. |
| 2 days 18 hours ago | My thoughts - West Michigan sports radio |
I do think Sean has all-around good sports knowledge and is fairly objective about college sports even for being a Sparty fan. My problem is him spending all this time trying to constantly prove that he isn't a Sparty slappy and try to imitate these people he claims that call him a Sparty slappy. Who exactly is saying this stuff about you, Sean? Just kind of annoying sometimes, although I like that he sticks on topic of sports topics I'm usually pretty interested in hearing about. I'm not going to lie in that I think "The Skip" is pretty damn funny even though it can get repetative. I have to laugh whenever he talks about ciggarates. The Lou Holtz stuff is funny maybe once a year before the Michigan-ND game but otherwise it gets real old. They tried to do Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne last month and it was just awful and completely unfunny. The Huge...the guy is obviously a grade-A blowhard. I think he does have a good radio voice, though, and is a good interviewer. His rants about the Lions sucking are hilarious and I love it when he rips on OSU. He just needs to grow up a bit. When someone calls him a bad name, he gives them more incentive for someone to do it again by talking about it on the air for an hour. I always forget their names, but I really like the "sub" guy on The Huge Show that subs in when Bill is on vacation. I think he was on today actually. He's probably my favorite radio voice locally. Then there's Bently...that guy is a grade-A goofball. He strikes me as a guy struck in the 1980s. He is always talking about Dr B and his age-clinic every damn minute it seems like. That being all said, he can be quite entertaining and I like his co-host.

| 5 days 3 hours ago | Tressel |
I remember there was an interesting tidbit in Three and Out from Bacon on how friendly Tressel was at Big Ten meetings. But still, the guy was a snake and sketchy when the cameras weren't on him. Cool pick, though, OP. Your facial expression is priceless and I think that's the best you could have done without making a scene by noticeably frowning or something along the lines of that. |
| 1 week 1 day ago | Recruiting HQ |
Ask Rick Lumpkin on the Recruiting HQ facebook page. |
| 2 weeks 4 days ago | Pistons |
Ford as the possible players that could go to the Pistons as (nothing factual of course):
Ben McLemore, Otto Porter, Anythony Bennett, CJ McCollum, and Shabazz Muhammed. I really think the Pistons are looking for a 2-4 position right now, rather than a PG. If the Pistons were to get a good draft pick and get a nice free agent signing (has plenty of cap room), they could probably at make the playoffs next season. Unfortunuetly, I don't trust Joe D anymore. |
| 3 weeks 3 days ago | Pick 17 |
is Jarvis Jones. No suprise |
| 3 weeks 4 days ago | Calvin, The Survey |
The article is a of a survey that was 100% annoymous and so it doesn't say. I am a Calvin College grad myself, class of 2010, and I didn't notice that that was one of the answers until I saw the comment here. I am curious who it would be, especially considering Calvin does not have football. Also ForeverBlue, say hi to Mr. Crow for me. I haven't him seen him for a bit.
EDIT: Oops, I see the reply below mine was to you which answered your question. Now that I think about, I bet it is Brookhuizen. His ex-girlfriend went to Calvin (I know her so it's not creepy that I know this!) ...I know he isn't on the team, but do you think he was still included in this survey? |
| 3 weeks 4 days ago | Just a tidbit from the article |
Which hasn't been mentioned: Survey: If you had to do it over again, would you have gone to Michigan? Yes: 19 |
| 3 weeks 4 days ago | I'd like to see him shoot much more next season |
and JB give him the green light to shoot at will. This may sound like a vague statement I know. There may be times where one will be upset if he took that shot with someone in his face and missed, but a shooter like him will easily make up for it by hitting a couple threes with a man in his face a couple minutes later. |
| 3 weeks 5 days ago | Who gives a shit |
She's not reading these comments and doesn't know my SN on The Den anyways |
| 3 weeks 5 days ago | Chantell Jennings |
I didn't know Chantell Jennings was so damn cute. I need to hit on her more often when I post to her in The Den forum. |
| 4 weeks 2 days ago | Huge |
Huge is kind of an ass-clown but he is actually a really good interviewer. As for the interview, very good stuff and Drake and his dad did real well in the interview. As much as I am not an Izzo fan, it sounds like he handled it like a class-act when Drake decommitted from MSU and hopes to remain as a mentor in his life. As for Dantonio, you can tell Drake didn't want to talk about him and I bet he told the Huge before hand to keep the questions on him recruiting Drake to a bare minimal because it's obvious Dantonio didn't do much recruiting of him in the first place. A little tidbit from the interview, it sounds like Michigan giving him a video presenting off all the great WR's wearing number 1 at Michigan really impressed Drake. Coming from someone who has seen quite a bit of his high school games the last couple of years, I am confident Drake could easily be the next WR to wear the number 1 jersey by the time he's a junior. |
| 4 weeks 2 days ago | Mr Harris |
He has a rep as just being one of those very loud dads at sporting events, but he's just vocal at sporting events and perhaps enjoys the spotlight, but not neccessarily a bad person like say Kevin Grady Sr. |
| 4 weeks 3 days ago | Yep |
Just like Kyle Broflovski convincing the Family Guy staff to air the episode showing Muhammad |
| 4 weeks 3 days ago | Tom is a good guy |
Tom is great at interacting with board posters on the ESPN MDen Forum and doesn't act like a jackass like The Beaver does on Scout. Sean is pretty annoying about recruiting. He spent a whole show in February saying how good recruiting doesn't guarantee success. Well duh, Sean, who the hell ever said it does? |
| 4 weeks 4 days ago | good |
Now she can finally get laid |
| 4 weeks 4 days ago | Bentley |
I have to say I enjoy the Bentley and whatever they call it now show on 107.3 in the morning. This past Monday, though, they were talking about Drake Harris and Bentley said he should have gone to MSU because of Dantonio's success over UM in the last 5 years. I haven't listened to that show since I heard Ray say that. What an idiot. |
| 4 weeks 4 days ago | Yes. Agree. |
I was at some try-outs run by him, and I had friends that also played for him. While Kevin Sr was nuts, he was great at making one a better basketball player. Sadly, usually he focused on how to make an ass out of himself at AAU tourneys. I remember watching one game where he told the refs his team hadn't warmed up long enough, and so the refs started the game without them on the court while the opposing team played again themselves (with a lot of 5 second calls of course). When Grady's team finally came out, I think they were down by 30 points before they came back and won. |
| 4 weeks 4 days ago | Grady Sr |
Kevin Grady Sr is in the slammer, though, for a long time. As far as I know, Mr Harris hasn't committed serious crimes. Grady Sr also was banned from AAU for being a certified jackass. Mr Harris just likes the attention, but Grady Sr was a flat out bully. |
| 4 weeks 4 days ago | Huge |
While the Huge has a "huge" ego and can be a jackass, he is a really good interviewer |
| 4 weeks 4 days ago | one year too early eh? |
If you were a year younger then you would have seen SC when a title in football and basketball. Ouch.
Class of 2006 GRCHS grad here |
| 4 weeks 4 days ago | Mr Harris |
He is quite vocal at sporting events (more so basketball) but he isn't THAT bad as his reputation is. A lot of people love to rip on Drake's high school football team because they win and get accused of a lot of BS, and so Mr Harris is unfairly part of focus of that.
Anyways, he's a huge UM fan which is great. I got a feeling he will be reading this thread real soon when he hears there's a thread about him. |
| 5 weeks 22 hours ago | His HS QB |
GRC's HS QB was all-state last year and was very accurate. This fall, it will be a question-mark in terms of who will be the GRC QB. It probably won't be someone near as good as last years QB, and so Harris's overall numbers might be a tad down this fakk. |
