My bad..

scrambled those two around.  40 yards is 36.68 meters, but the math is still done correctly.

0.86 seconds in the 30-40m pro-rates to 0.57 seconds, on top of 3.63.

It's plausible Denard is just as fast

If you look at Bolts splits over the first 40 meters, he runs the first 10 meters in 1.74 (reaction time is removed here), 10m-20m in 0.990, 20-30 meters in 0.90.  At 30 meters, he's clocking in at 3.63 (with rounding) seconds.  40 meters comes out to 36.58 yards, so he has 6.58 yards left to go.

Bolt runs the 30-40m range in 0.86 so if you pro-rate that you wind up with 0.57 seconds, that's a total of 4.20 seconds at 40 yards with the reaction time removed.  This is a bit fast of an estimate since he is still accelerating at this point, but not a significant amount (about 0.6m per second per second).  Considering acceleration, we're probably looking at adding 1 or 2 hundredths.

However, the kicker here is that the 100m starts off of starting blocks while the 40 yard does not.  After poking around the internet some, I'm guessing, conservatively, starting blocks reduce your time by 0.2 seconds.  You can argue that they would have less impact on elite sprinters, so let's drop the estimate back down to 0.15.  Adding that back in (to the 4.2 estimate), we're looking at about a 4.35 40 yard dash as the optimistic estimate of Bolt's 40 yard time.

Other caveats.  I'm not sure whether there is a huge difference between running on a track with spikes and running on grass/turf with cleats (I would assume that track + spikes is the ideal situation, but it's not factored in here).  Also, I'm not a track runner so I can't say for certain whether there is any sort of pacing in a 100m race.  But on the other hand, I can't imagine a 9 second and change event being anything but an all out sprint.  Lastly, there probably some drag from "shoelaces flopping in the wind".

Next Project....

Maize and Blue Deathstar.

Makes sense

I imagine most the time when an RB get's hit, he's tucked (not upright) and bracing for the hit, whereas when a QB gets hit, they are usually in the process of throwing or right after the ball is thrown.

Definitely have a solid reason

for going.  Maybe take the time and audit some classes, if not at Ross than somewhere local, to really make sure that business school is what's right for you.  I don't know how much thought you've given to to where you want to end up career-wise so I don't want to presume anything. Lets just say that 80k is a lot to spend to figure out that you actually wanted a masters in engineering.

Reach out to people you know, do some information interviews to get an idea of the field/position you'd like to go in.  Honestly, I think that business degrees are great for rounding out your skill set in just about any field and with the right plan they pay for themselves, but it doesn't hurt to do your due diligence.  Good luck!

My advice...

is to give a bit of thought to what area of business she whats to focus on (Finance, Marketing, Strategy, Information Technology, etc.), different schools schools are better at different subjects.  From my experience (BBA '09), Ross is very strong in Finance, Strategy and Operations, I think this is reflected in their research output in those subjects as well.  To be fair though, I didn't really take much of the other classes.

Another thought is to look around at the demographics of various B-schools.  Some schools prefer to take people with a lot of work experience while others seem to prefer a younger crowd.

I wasn't aware...

that Tacopants was related to the Borens.

Why is this even a question...

BTB hands down, they definitely load you up with sour cream and guacamole.  I used to live on Packard and Hill, so was there a few times a week (especially late at night haha).  Moved out to Boston almost three years ago and still can't find a place that matches up.

I'm not sure

whether there's an unspoken code that players keep within, but I think that there's a point when it gets a excessive.  For example, the difference between calling someone a "n***** faggot" and a "we're gonna run right over you and there's nothing you can do the stop it".  The distinction may not be easily defined, but I'd expect our players to know the difference and hold themselves to a higher standard even if nobody else does.  This is Michigan fergodsakes.

Hmm...

maybe the coaches want to lull ND into thinking we have no special teams again.  Oh well, here's to hoping for massive improvement.  Can you pass the kool-aid please?
