It was a lame idea and I hated the number-switching.

Houston is the perfect example of why letting Suh go was the right move. The Texans are 100% locked into having one incredible player on their team. It doesn't matter that Watt is the best player in the league--they didn't make the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Patriots let go a GREAT player (Logan Mankins) right before the season began and won the super bowl.

I think this was absolutely the right move. As good as he is (and I think he's the best DT in the league) I don't think the Patriots or Seahawks would've spent the kind of money he was going to require to lock up. Paying him huge amounts would have been a Texans move. Letting him go is a Patriots move (the same type they employed w/ Ty Law, Lawyer Milloy, Randy Moss, and Logan Mankins). Football is a team sport and I'm glad to see the Lions focus on spreading money across the whole team.

We're not worried about replacing "The Victors." That's not even possible.
We're worried that it's going to be "We Are ND" 2.0--A PR nightmare created by Ross School frat boys with no taste.

I think it's fantastic that Harbaugh is bringing a woman into the football culture at Michigan. I teach at a high school with many students from rough backgrounds and we have a volunteer in the building who all the students refer to as "grandma." Her mere presence in the building has an amazing impact on some of the young men and their behavior at school. We have the ability to call out behavior and say, "is this how you'd behave with your grandma in the room?" And a lot of the time we don't even have to call it out. They are just more respectful with her around.
I think having a "team mom" will have similar positive benefits. A lot of these kids are away from home for the first time in their lives and are surrounded by a lot of temptation. Having a "mom" away from home reminds them of how they might behave with their actual mom around. It also may mitigate some of the male bravado than can sometimes border on misogyny in sports culture. I think it's a great move.

Damn, that's a great gif. I'm a teacher and I swear I've had a student like that in just about all my classes. Just doing crazy shit because they can.

This is big. I am really impressed with this kid and think his combination of mobility + accuracy separates him from our other QBs. Obviously, he's tall but I don't think that's the most important factor. His mobility seems to fit the Luck/Kaepernick mold. I'd be thrilled to have him join the class.

That young man looks like a difference maker. With the experience we have on our OL, I could see him coming in and starting day one and being very successful.
Hook 'em Harbaugh.

|10 weeks 4 days ago||8-4||
8-4 or 9-3 with one surprising win over either MSU or OSU. It's important to remember that we'll face three very good coaches in our non-conference schedule (Mendenhall, Whittingham, Anderson) and two current top-five teams returning most of their players (OSU and MSU) so anything better than 9-3 is really a stretch.
I expect Shane Morris to be much-improved and steady under Harbaugh's leadership. But I don't expect him to turn into Tom Brady overnight.
I see five games that we should absolutely win (Indiana, Rutgers, Minnesota, Maryland, UNLV)--but I also think it is very possible that we lose one of those in surprising fashion. So I'm expecting 4-5 wins there.
I see 3 games that we should lose based on this past year's success and returning personell (MSU, OSU, and Utah @ Utah). I think we'll win 1 or 2 of those games.
I see four games that could go either way (Penn St, Northwestern, Oregon St., BYU) and I'm thinking we go 2-2 or 3-1 in those games.
That logic gives us a low bar of 7-5 and a high bar of 10-2. I'm splitting the difference and saying 8-4 or 9-3.
Ok, with the gun of realism to my head, I'm saying 8-4.

Hate the rule. But so glad it happened to that team and that player in those circumstances. Karma is bliss.

If not MSU, I'm not interested. A night game should be one worth waiting for. No other home game (besides The Game) is worth the hullabaloo.

Right...I wasn't suggesting Beilein did anything wrong. I'm just pointing out that there may be some unspoken tension between our football and basketball coach for reasons of neither of their doing. That's an interesting possible conundrum that this otherwise inane post reminded me of.
|13 weeks 4 days ago||Silly OP aside, this does||
Silly OP aside, this does remind me of the bad blood between Crean and Beilein. I remember Beilein being really pissed about Crean's behavior after that game. Wonder if there would be any air to clear between Harbaugh and Beilein (or at least an awkwardness in the first few weeks). Forgot about that connection.

Here's some good news: I think I have the flu (was really knocked out yesterday) but am feeling much better today. Wishing you as fast a recovery. Yesterday, I would have been thrilled if someone had told me I'd be feeling this much better in 24 hours. Not fully out of the woods but much better today.
