Mani is not only the best Pizza in Michigan, it is competing for best restaurant in A2 as far as I'm concerned. Yeah, it's pricey but I'm willing to pay more for that experience. Everything they make is great. Having lived on the East Coat for several years, I was so upset to lose the thin crust experience when I moved back to MIchigan. Mani isn't as good as the best East Coast pizza in terms of crust/sauce, but it's actually better when it comes to bold ingredients. Their pasta is spectacular too--not the red sauce blandness of traditional italian restaurants.
And yes, Anthony's is amazing but we're talking about apples and oranges. Anthony's is my go-to when I want a food-coma inducing pizza at home. But Mani is a higher-end, sit-down experience. I woudln't eat at Anthony's unless stuck in a blizzard or something.
By the way, after Mani and Anthony's, it's a huge drop off to third place.
I didn't realize I had such strong opinions about pizza...

"GM" was a perfect description. "Maximize revenue" was also apt. UM is becoming increasingly professional and decreasingly "Michigan." Kids can't go to the games anymore because it's too expensive. That sucks.

I agree. Bill Martin was worse. But comparing Brandon to the guy who hired Rich Rodriguez--that's a pretty low bar, man.

If so, you've not been able to see the big house because it is obfuscated by a giant glaring digital sign advertising ticket sales. It's horrible.

I have to admit being skeptical before viewing. The term "greatest" invites skepticism.
But that was glorious.

Listen--I love this blog. I check it way too often. As long as Brian continues writing stuff like today's "The Story," that's all that really matters.
But the new banner seems a little lame. The photo is fine but the font looks generic...too bulky or something. I don't know--the quality of the banner doesn't equal the quality of the blog experience, I guess. And because I check the site way too often, I'll be seeing that new banner a LOT.
But yeah, whatever.

My friend in Boston (and one of the most astute baseball people I know) just texted me with this to say about Iglesias:
"I LOVE him. Ozzie Smith. Maybe the best devensive SS I have ever seen in a Sox uniform. He'll never hit a HR--but .275, will bat 9th and be the best defensive SS in baseball."
Listen, I liked Garcia's potential but Ozzie is a first-ballot Hall of Famer w/ a .260 lifetime batting average. I'll take him.

There are two new hotels that have just opened near Briarwood: Hilton Garden Inn and Townplace Suites. I stayed in both for one night as part of a promotion. They're both really nice, with great service and clean/modern accommodations. I can't speak for price or availability but they're both great options.

Thanks for acknowleding one of my points. Unfortunately, the majority of charter schools are not bound to your wife's school's standards. To my other points--Is your wife in a union? Does she receive the same benefits as other teachers in traditional public schools? Is the school non-profit?
|31 weeks 22 hours ago||Um...no||
Um...that's not true.
|31 weeks 22 hours ago||Hmmm...||
This school seems great but--and this is just my opinion, based on a lifetime dedicated to public schools--charter schools are usually the worst. They self-select the best available kids and trumpet their success, never acknowledging that they removed the cream of the crop from traditional public schools and left the problematic kids behind (thus not really "closing the gap"). Teachers are typically paid less (most charter schools are non-union) and have fewer rights. Many charter schools (I can't speak for this one) are for-profit, and therefore beholden to corporate investors, rather than the good of all kids. I could go on-and-on but, suffice it to say, I'm very wary of supporting charter schools.
To the OP-- I may be TOTALLY wrong about your school. Perhaps (as Ezeh asks above), your school as taken steps to make sure you include a more representative group of students. Perhaps you allow your teachers to unionize and offer competitive payment and benefits. Perhaps you are a non-profit charter. I couldn't find info on any of those things on the website so feel free to correct me.
But at first glance, I would be wary of supporting this cause.
|44 weeks 2 days ago||I'm used to it||
I went to middle school in Ann Arbor during the Fab Five era. I was the only one rooting for Calbert Cheaney and Alan Henderson. That was miserable.
Wow, I feel like I'm in a confessional.

The only game of the year where I cheer against UM. My parents went to IU and I was raised to be a Hoosier (at least when it comes to basketball). But I attended UM and am blue in every other way. So...conflicted...

If Brian is done with this year's hockey team (at least in print), I don't think we'll see them featured in the banner anytime soon.

I wonder what a close-up of his finger w/ the stache (in the place where Denard's helmet currently resumes) would look like? Anyone with photoshop skills wanna give it a whirl?
P.S. I think a Lewan banner might be a nice temporary statement but I'd love to see something basketball related takeover during this seemingly groundbreaking season.

And as an Ypsi native and UM alum, I'd just like to point out that the Corner Brewery is the coolest place to drink (indoors or outdoors) in Washtenaw County. Also the Shadow Art Fair is much cooler than Ann Arbor's middle-aged, bloated affair.
