As a father, I cannot imagine the pain of such loss. The mere thought brings tears to my eyes. My condolences to the Carr family.

Those fuckers ran out of luck. I hope they now STFU. Eor Dantoni can suck it.

Maybe we could ask Dave Brandon to help bring the WOW effect to the blog.

I happen to live in Bangkok and this is what I do:
If you happen to be a UM alum, the university provides a free VPN service for alumni and retirees, which is the fastest VPN service out there; find it and install it on your laptop (it will not work on mobile devices, AFAIK). If you're not, just hire a vpn service for a month (but make sure you configure EVERYTHING before leaving the US), I believe you can get 1-month service for about $5 (or use the free trial if possible). I'd recommend strong VPN. Tunnel bear works, but not always and is not as fast as strong VPN, but it is simple to install and there's a free version. Maybe get both?
If you have cable (which, who doesn't?), make sure you have your provider's login credentials handy. The game will be on ABC/ESPN, so you can log into their web site (ESPN3) and "activate" your device (if you're watching on an ipad) or log in directly into their site with your laptop.
Most properties now have different "tiers" of internet service in South East Asia. Make sure you buy the fastest, it usually runs up to $50. I'm not sure what the Hilton does.
I'll be traveling, otherwise I wouldn't mind hosting a game viewing party.
You're lucky the game is not on BTN. As I indicated on a previous post, that is a piece of dog shit. Runny dog shit.

I have been unfortunately forced to be a BTN2Go International customer for the last three years because of where I live. What a steaming piece of piece of shit. For 5 minutes of the game I had to look at their stupid blue screen.

It's just past 1:00 am here in Bangkok and I've been drinking for a while. Is this really happening??

I'm not sure that we are at a point where we can say having msu and osu at home is a "good" year. *sigh*
Hopefully Señor Harbaugh will change that.
|1 year 19 weeks ago||'97 vs OSU||
'97 vs OSU was the last game I attended as a student. It was pretty chilly but we kept warm by pouring some cinammon schnaps into our hot chocolate. There were some old(er) dudes with rubber Michgan helmets going NUTS next to us, and made the whole experience much more entertaining. The chants of "Heisman" and "Boston" were so sweet. I still have the stub and a copy of the Michgan Daily from the day after the game somewhere. Good times.
I live way too far to attend more than one game per year, but I have been lucky to have attended both UTLs vs. Notre Dame at Michigan stadium. Both games have been amazing, albeit the experience has been vastly different. 2011 was just the sort of thing that aggravates my heartburn, but worth it at the end.

Yeah, I immediately thought he should be nicknamed Luis "El Perro" Suarez, but that would be denigrating to all well-behaved dogs.
Pre-match prep against Uruguay is going to have to include tetanus shots now.

That was great, but now I have coffee all over my shirt.

Fuck. It's been over three hours after the game and I still have heartburn.

It really depends on the time of the day. What you want to do is to get through passport control as quickly as you can. The queues can be really long, particularly because I'm assuming you'll be traveling with a US passport, so you will have to go to the "all passports" queue instead of the "EU passports" one, which moves much faster. After getting through passport control you will have to go through a metal detector just like you did at DTW, so be ready for that. Unlike DTW, there's no need to remove your shoes.
They do have a priority lane, which is for business class travelers and those with very short connection flights. It is the left most lane, and there is usually a gate keeper. That is probably your best choice.
Hopefully your baggage makes it.
Don't sweat it, if you miss your flight they will rebook you on a later one and you may be able to put your carry on luggage in a locker (available at Schiphol) and take a quick trip into Amsterdam, which is an amazing town.
Enjoy your trip!

Many congrats and best of luck.

BTN to go service is -to put it elegantly - a piece of shit.
When the games (football OR basketball) are on a major network you have to wait until 12:00 ET to watch them. Which would be ok if the games were actually available, not the case most of the time.
When the games are only on BTN you can watch them live, but the stream is crappy and it often skips. I can't ever get it to work on my iPad for live broadcasts.
The BTN reminds me of that commercial for monster.com in which a guy worked with a bunch of monkeys.
|3 years 11 weeks ago||Thanks, man. BTN2Go||
Thanks, man. BTN2Go International was supposed to have the game available since 11:00 am my time (Bangkok). The piece of shit service did not have the game available on time, the stream is slow, it stops, it skips, etc. And do you know when customer service support for the "BTN international" is at work? When the international viewers are sleeping. What a fucking joke.
Also, thanks for letting me vent, it's been a frustrating few hours.

Every time I see Charles Woodson return that punt agaist osu I get goosebumps. I remember that day, one of my last as a student at UM. It was just beautiful.

And add Arthur C. Clarke, in particular Childhood's End, and (perhaps not quite fantasy/sci fi but still nerdy) Noah Gordon's The Physician.

Wow. What a score by Pirlo.
I like soccer. I just absolutely HATE the diving and faking. It ruins the game for me.

I'd recommend that you check your online account, you can do it all there even if the hard copy application has yet to arrive.

Kick off is at 02:30 here in Norway. I'm having a cup of coffee at 19:00 to make it to the end of the game.
|3 years 50 weeks ago||Well,||
let them. IF THIS IS TRUE, fuck psu. Kick them out of the B1G and give them the death penalty. Take away their wins too.
As a father, I am apalled that "men" allowed this to happen. I've always had tremendous respect for Penn State as an institution, but after this? Fuck them.
