Tornado room is a an old school, great steakhouse. Sushi-red has great sushi and Eno Vino is a great, although pricey, tapas place located on the 10th floor of the AC Hotel which is a great place to stay and located a block off the square.
There is an observation deck on the upper portion of the capitol that allows you to see both Lake Menona and Lake Mendota. After that take a stroll or drive down to the Memorial Union, which is a lakeside outdoor seating area where you can grab a drink, or ice cream and relax.
if you’re there on a Saturday check out the farmers market which takes place on the square surrounding the capitol, or make the quick drive out to Verona and walk around Epic’s campus. I know it seems cheesy but it’s actually a cool place with many themed buildings.
Brendan is a great kid! I taught him (or tried to) chemistry his junior year at Olentangy Liberty. Tall and rangy, but does sometimes shy away from contact. Loved having him in class as he was always humble and kinda funny.
Fans were calling for his head and they hired Kevin Wilson, pretty much a get out before you’re pushed situation. Plus his son is an early enrollee linebacker at Michigan State and pretty much all their family lives in metro Detroit.
Smart hard-working kid. Besides the fact it effects his family he's not really a buckeye. He is more of a Kansas guy as that is where his dad was when he was growing up. Will probably end up playing at Michigan State though, they've made a few visits over the last 3 months.
And he said his dad would take a head position of it came up. He's a great kid who is a pretty good ball player. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go be a head coach because I was told "head coach is a dream of his"
actually have someone physically tape over all the M's on campus and change the name of a road for the week. Then the local news will report on it as if it's something creative. As a Michigan fan living just north of Columbus that whole week gives me a headache.
He played and coached at Frankenmuth, one of my older brothers played for him. Hard ass, but great coach. I had a crush on his youngest daughter who's my age in like 4th grade and his wife was my first grade teacher.
My class was 38-3 in four years. Varsity lost in semis my sophomore year to Country Day, and we lost to Riverview in the semis my senior year. More recently they have issues getting by Flint Powers in the playoffs, but are there consistently.
beat the high school I work at in the regional semis with senior guard Caris Levert, junior forward Taco Charlton, and sophomore forward Jae'Sean Tate. We held our own pretty well, but a pretty solid collection of talent in central Ohio.
What baffled me is outpouring of support and blatant disregard for the things he said. Too often fans of OSU put their arrogance first overlooking the true issue. Had a president of Michigan made similar comments I'd be mad as hell and supporting the fact something needed to be done. That was not the case in either Gee's or Tressel's situation. Both of them are regarded as heroes and loved unconditionally by fans here who just blindly follow as long as they're winning. I teach in a local high school, and had I made the same comments as Gee, the people supporting him would be the first to have me replaced.
My wife and I are part of the University of Michigan fan and alumni club here in Columbus and every time we've gone the events recently they've been at Gallo's tap room off Bethel Rd. Every year they have a joint event with the Michigan St. club down here at Gallo's and they actually pass a trophy back and forth between the clubs, it's a good time. I'd be happy to get you more information (my wife does most of the communication with the group) if you are interested. They send out emails detailing when they are meeting and you can also get discounted to tickets through them to UM hockey games against Ohio State. In 2006 for the #1 vs #2 game they reserved a huge section of (what used to be Frog Bear) and it was nice to be surrounded by fans on your side. Just let me know.
Have you been in Frankenmuth a while? My great-grandfather founded ( and uncles own) the farm equipment dealership across from Kroger and brother and cousin work there. I love going back and it is a good,safe, place to raise kids. Just once I had the taste of having everything so close it'd be hard to move back.

I've been here 9 years and really enjoy it. The previous poster puts it pretty much in perspective, people get annoying and the week of the Michigan game can get on your nerves but overall I like it. We live in lewis center about 20 mins north of downtown and I love. Granted I grew up in Frankenmuth, MI so I never lived anywhere with so much to do. It's on the close side to family and I find most of the suburbs to be very nice places.
Not sure if this is information anyone has, but here it goes. Does anyone know the hotel and arrival time if the team in the Columbus area? Living only 20 minutes from downtown I'd like to give them a great welcome this evening.
Is okay when Michigan isn't playing. However when he calls UM games he is terribly biased. Just watch BTN's replay of the UM/OSU game....he's terrible. A good announcer overcomes his own bias, which is something Spielman cannot do. I respect him for his time in Detroit, but he should not be calling any Michigan games!
Is an actor who co starred in the Rush Hour series of movies along with the all time classic, Friday! I think you mean Chris L. Rucker who spent 8 days in jail only to fly to Iowa with MSU and play in that game. However, they still got destroyed...
Watched him beat Liberty High School (school I teach at) in the state regional semifinals in Ohio and he scored 27 points. Lanky, smooth, and tons of range, his only negative is that he's extremely skinny. Definitely needs a redshirt year, but a very nice addition!
I'm sorry but the players in the NFL CHOOSE to play football. They could easily turn down millions to join the everyday workforce like you or I. Maybe stay in college and get a degree, but no. They choose to leave college early and chase the money knowing full well that these outcomes are possible if not probable. No they shouldn't change the game, if these players want a healthier life, don't play football. Become doctors, lawyers, teachers, etc... like the rest of us and die naturally at an older (hopefully) age. It's like riding a rollercoaster at Cedar Point. You do so at your own risk. If you personally decide that the risk is not worth the reward, don't do it. If you decide that it is and the car gets flung from the track and you die, you made the choice fully knowing of the possible outcome.
I've been reading the blog for a while due to it being a great source for my Michigan fix. I just hadn't felt the need to post a whole lot until I saw your post about Mike. I went to the B1G website and pasted the link into a school wide email. But of course, instead of thanking me about the news they just stated the only reason I sent it is because of the fact it was Michigan related. Typical Ohio fans thinking the world doesn't exist outside of Ohio....
he was a student of mine in high school and just an awesome kid. He ran into a bit of injury his senior year but still produced very well. One of his teammates was last year's B1G freshmen of the year at Ohio, Josh Desze. That Liberty baseball team had four starters go D-1. I love hearing of the accolades Mike is obtaining and I spread them around the school as everyone hear pays religious attention to Ohio for obvious reasons but obviously not what's going on at Michigan.
Congratulations to Mike O'Neill, a great kid who I got to know through a high school classroom on his Player of the Week honor. He was a student in my chemistry class in Powell, Ohio a suburb 20 minutes north of Columbus. A great young man who is deserving of this recognition. By the way most of you may know his uncle, Paul O'Neill a one time Yankees outfielder.
