As a senior, we should know…

As a senior, we should know enough about our own players to scheme with their strengths and weaknesses in mind.  Teske is a good player, and I'm glad we have him, but he could use some help defending the post from his coaches and teammates.

There is no excuse

There is no excuse for not having a dominant offensive line at the University of Michigan.

This is 101 level stuff, people.  UM has produced NFL talent for decades, and should be able to recruit on that, plus all the other amazing advantages of playing at Michigan.

Got it?

Blocking & Tackling

If you didn't know better, you'd think that the coaches have stressed the basics.  Wow!

But what about that O-line tho Evans should stop running into the back of those big guys that were wearing maize, We had a hard time opening holes for longer than a millisecond. I'm looking forward to a couple games to gel before the big10.
The struggle is real

Apparently Brian wants us to understand and feel what that's like to be in the midst of that struggle.

How about UFC? I'm not a huge fan, but UFC is a huge draw, and they love big events.
Wear what you want

I've been proudly wearing my Tshimanga Biakabutuka #21 Nike jersey since 1995.

Then again, that's a cool ass jersey, not like much of the crap that Adidas has been making.

espn = Clown Car

Cowherd simply didn't prepare for the interview, and he didn't know anything about the guy he was talking with, that's the fact of the matter.  He was what we thought he were.

A buddy of mine from Florida called to ask me if I had heard the interview.  No, I hadn't heard the freaking interview, I never listen to a clown like Cowherd.

Herd's introduction included the following:

  • References to Cowherd's own intensity, and that of his 'friends'
  • The importance of being "realistic" of UM's chances this year
  • Excuses as to why this will not be a good year for UM
  • Recollections of Pete Carroll's first year record of 6-6
  • Reminders that no one can turn things around overnight

It was insulting and sophomoric, pretty much what I expect from Cowherd, Skip Bayless, Stephen A. Smith and the rest of the clowns at the worldwide leader.  WAY back in the day, Lloyd Carr allowed himself to be interviewed by 'The Fabulous Sports Babe', which was a horrible show during sydicated sports radio's infancy.  Coach Carr refused to refer to her as "Babe", and called her Nancy, her actual name.

The biggest mistake that Harbaugh made was allowing himself to be interviewed by such an asshat.  Lesson learned.

You didn't know?

The whole freaking stadium knew!

How can you not know that:

  1. There was a solid steel tent stake in your locker room
  2. Your student-atheletes were planning on slamming it into sparty's pasture
  3. They freaking DID slam it into said pasture, in front of God and everyone
  4. People took pictures of aforementioned slam

Perhaps if he were wearing his freaking headset, he would have had a clue?  No.  It's indicative of Hoke's complete lack of awareness of what's going on.

O-Line As we all know, the offensive line is the foundation that any football team is built upon. We need not spend any time debating this fact, it is indeed self-evident. Our O-Line looked much improved, and the glaring misfires look like they were because of missed assignments, not because our linemen were overmatched, poorly coached, or simply not as talented as they should be to be playing in Ann Arbor. This leads me to the conclusion that our O-line will improve as the year goes on, which is key.
Yup

Totally agree.  If we can string together a few of the top fives, we'll be back where we beong.

Great Flashback

I thought that the doc was well done, Jalen's fingerprints were all over it.  He was always the most savvy and socially aware member of the Fab Five, and it showed.

Sure, I wish that Chris Webber would have been part of the project, too.  I also wish that we would have won both of the NCAA finals that they played in, that they would have played together for four years and brought the program four championships, and I wish that the Beatles had never broken up, and I wish that we could all get along.

Chris Webber feels justified.  That's the issue.  He feels that he was taken advantage of, and then betrayed when the Ed Martin connection came out.  He knows that the University made millions off of his skills, personality, and efforts, and he resents it.

As far as I'm concerned, Chris Webber should be welcomed back to Ann Arbor, no apology required.  He was 19, for God's sake.  If I had to apologize for all the stupid crap I did when I was 19, I'd be busy.  We all would.

Whuk?

What's up with the Muppets?

WHAT'S UP WITH THE MUPPETS?!!

Run a lap.

Almost completely agree

What a great read, and great perspecive.

The biggest difference between a Bo training camp and a Rod training camp is today's meda having a negative view of spoiled, pampered, lazy players leaving.  Back in '69, most people thought that allowing players water breaks during practice was coddling them.  Now, players tweet about their games during the freaking game.

I've been a Michigan fan long enough to know better than to get my hopes too damn high.  The fact remains, Coach Rod has to have a great season to save his job in Ann Arbor.  I, for one, hope that he succeeds, and stays here for a long time.

"Defense"

Barkeep, set me up with another shot of Kool Aid!

I don't see any argument trying to prop up our "defense" as defensible, but for the first time, our offense may very well be able to outshine our defense's weaknesses.

I look forward to a seven or eight win season, and I hope to be able to watch a bowl game Christmas Eveish.

At least there's some room on the bandwagon now...

And also with you op⋅ti⋅mism [op-tuh-miz-uhm] –noun 1. a disposition or tendency to look on the more favorable side of events or conditions and to expect the most favorable outcome. 2. the belief that good ultimately predominates over evil in the world. 3. the belief that goodness pervades reality. 4. the doctrine that the existing world is the best of all possible worlds. Inherently, optimism is unrealistic. But, dammit, it's worth a try. This is why I read this damn blog every day.
Those who stay How soon we forget. Is it possible that this has happened before? "Schembechler began his tenure as head coach at Michigan with a rallying cry to his players: "Those who stay will be champions!" This slogan foreshadowed the challenges Michigan football players would endure from the dramatic culture change initiated by Schembechler, who emphasized toughness and introduced practices and conditioning far more rigorous than any the players had been exposed to before. His first training camp in 1969 saw around 140 players enter but a mere 75 emerging from the grueling camp and choosing to embrace Schembechler's system." Of course, the Free Press reporters didn't go after Bo, did they? Damn right they did. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Go Blue.
Any change is good change in G.R. I'm looking forward to hearing what 96.1 brings to the table, we needed another sports station in G.R. Huge makes my ears hurt, and how Bakita has kept his job for this long is a freaking mystery. Hoping Terp and Sean don't suck, they don't so far.
