Meyer "deleted" texts off of…

Meyer "deleted" texts off of his university phone that were more than 1 year old. We all know that those texts are never really "deleted" - they are out there someplace and can be retrieved. Being an Ohio public employee, all of his communications (emails, texts, etc.) are subject to public records. I find it interesting that the investigative committee was given 14 days to do/complete their investigation. Not really enough time to do undergo requesting the deleted texts (which are public records) and then the process to actually do the technical stuff to retrieve them.

Looks Ok Saw Onwenu in M Union after the game....... had a boot on but was walking fine.
Teams have special team coaches but not kicking coaches Another issue with 99% of college teams is that they don't have a coach who understands the actual process of kicking or punting. Most college kicked have a private coach who they have worked with but when they start to have trouble/struggle there is not a coach on the team who can analyze specifically what is wrong with their technique. So many kickers when they are having problems end up sending a tape of thier missed kicks to their private kicking coach for suggestion on what is wrong. Since the private coach had worked with them lots they can often see something that has changed that is causing the problems. But often this then in done over the phone or email. But the kicker has to try to fix it on his own.
Soccer players not always best kickers My son was a college kicker and had been to lots of camps and worked with a couple of past M kickers and also NFL kicking coaches. He never was a soccer player. The follow through of a person who played soccer as they kick the ball and then their follow through is typically a crossover with their kicking leg which also twists their body . Also often soccer players don't follow through but punch at the ball. This crossover often causes lots of inconsistency with field goal kicking because the kickers body and leg don't go in a straight line toward the uprights. A kid who just learns to kick a football typically is taught to kick with their follow through of their kicking leg to be straight toward the uprights. Their body doesn't typically twist and usually they actually skip at the end of the kick in a straight line toward uprights. It is also hard sometimes to really tell how accurate a HS kicker is because they use a "block" to kick field goals so ball is up off the ground then have to kick off the ground in college. Difficult transition for many HS kickers.
Congrats and advice Congrats to all newly accepted students and their parents!g My son just graduated Michigan with undergrad aerospace engineering degree in December and has just started Masters program at Michigan in Space Engineering. He loved the opportunities and challenges Michigan provided. Best to live on main campus. That way you really feel connected to all the university has to offer. Easy walk to football, basketball, hockey games. Close to all things on State Street and S. university. Shuttle buses make the trip to North Campus really easy. My son lived in West Quad first two years ..... He could actually go to union without having to go outside. He would often go there to get food or coffee in his robe and slippers. Cool story, his first year he lived in the same room Tom Brady lived in. Take in all Michigan has to offer.
Tax Issues

An interesting thing that this living expense/stipend causes is that this money is considered income and the students must claim it as income on their federal taxes.  Giving them more money will just make their income more and may result in them having to pay additional federal taxes. I know it doesn't seem like much, but I know the IRS really looks at scholarships closely and tries to squeeze all the money they can out of college students.

So do washing machines....

Heard DB on radio this morning. Didn't hear all of the interview but two things he said stuck out to me and sounded familiar:

1) He (DB) and others in the athletic department work really hard.......

(BH - "team has worked really hard this week")

2) That he (DB) wants people to know he (DB) is a really nice guy......

(The coach is a really nice guy)

Must be the the criterion for success?!?
