and I literally mean ANY movie written/directed by Jim Jarmusch. The guy is really a genius. Can't believe he's not better renown.
I also really like the earlier Woody Allen (Manhattan, Annie Hall, etc.). Not really under the radar, but most people can't stand him or his movies. But Woody has a way of getting under your skin and those earlier movies are really masterpieces.
Well too bad for the Blackhawks. Frankly, the Wings deserve better. They've been keeping the Western Conference afloat for 20 years playing every screwball team the NHL dreams up (the Mighty Ducks, Phoenix Coyotes, etc.). It's been a complete joke. And then you add to that the amount of travel the Wings have had to put up with during the regular season and the playoffs. It's amazing the Wings won as many games as they did during that era.
and suicidal tendencies. Not joking. That's why the Lions have been treating this situation delicately (i.e., they don't want a reoccurence of the Kansas City Chiefs situation). They're going to cut him, but taking careful steps along the way.
This post is a HALL OF FAME post. Everything about it is brilliant. Genius!!!
I want to worship at the alter of Herm.
Herm, please impregnate my girlfriend. I want to raise the son of God.
What do we with that??? Am I the only one concerned about this often overlooked historical footnote in Ohio/Michigan history? In some way, we should honor the heros lost in that Great War. Perhaps a patch in the shape of Toledo on our uniforms.
I think of Homer Simpson working at the nuclear power plant. Funny stuff if it weren't so true and close to home. And squash no less. Who the hell plays squash except old dudes with those tube athletic socks and "Bike" shorts?
went clear over this guy's head (and I'm afraid others).
I would have thought the absurdity of the original post would have been enough. Maybe the saddest thing is that it's not such an absurd post after all, at least in some people's minds.
but this article doesn't really quote any independent sources. I'm all for Michigan homerism, but Allen Trieu isn't exactly an independent observer of Michigan recruiting (even if he's the "Mid-West" recruiting guru for Scout). Just wish Kyle would have gotten some quotes from better sources, that's all.
You should just start one. Best sports bar down there is Flanigan's off Bird Avenue in Coconut Grove, but that's not really the type of bar you'd be able to take over. You could probably takeover Sand Bar in Coconut Grove, which is also pretty decent.
If you in any way like "In the Big House" by Pop Evil (other than on some ironic, perverse, or maybe even a sadomasochistic level), then you are a "Walmart Wolverine." So let it be written.
But for you to lump Delillo together with all of the other writers out there who really use and abuse the "I don't give a shit" schtick is an abomination. And DFW would agree.
Was a better receiver (not return man) than Desmond Howard. They were our bookends on offense. Desmond won the heisman in 92 because Alexander was out the whole season with an injury. We didn't have anybody else other than Howard. Eventually teams started to double up on Howard, which is what happened in the 92 rose bowl when we got destroyed by Emtman and crew. What a sad game that was . . . I'm convinced Emtman was on steroids.
Most would say that the Lions will be a better team than 2010, a year in which only a couple of close losses kept them out of the playoffs. In fact, the Lions made a bit of a run toward the end of the season without Stafford, including the win against Green Bay. They can definitely make the playoffs without Stafford playing. And if Stafford is healthy, watch out.
Maybe a better method for ranking schools in terms of recruiting would be to use the number of offers from the top 25 programs in terms of wins-losses over the past 10 years. All this other stuff is so arbirtrary it's meaningless.
has gotten notoriously bad of late - in fact, it's the worst in the country. Charlie LeDuff (local reporter, Michigan grad, former writer for the Michigan Daily) has been covering this quite a bit. If you need an ambulance for any reason in the city of Detroit, it could take 20-30 minutes for anyone to come. You're better off driving yourself to the hospital than waiting for an ambulance to come.
is such a douche bag. At some point, that crap is going to bite him in the arse, if it hasn't begun already. This is the only site you should be posting on.
Despite the NCAA stuff that came down, this was probably the most influential college basketball team ever. It literally captured the entire nation's attention at a time when you also had Jordan's Chicago Bulls and Duke on the same stage. This Michigan BBall team was the Muhammad Ali of college basketball.
used to go to those games. And he'd bring his WHOLE entourage. It was ridiculous. That's what is so crazy about these recruits going to other schools and getting blown away by the atmosphere. If one of those recruits went to a Fab Five game, they'd never be the same. It was that crazy.
Especially Prime 112. I'll only add a couple of good sushi spots, both of which are in South Beach. Even if you don't really like sushi, it's pretty f'ing good in Miami.
I'd try Bond Street Lounge or Nobu (which is the more expensive of the two).

You buy their newspaper or TV station and then you fire them immediately. I call this the Rupert Murdoch approach . . .
I'm confused. I always thought it meant something very different.
I prefer the baggy, old school wife-beater jerseys, ala the Fab Five.

But if you do, casually move to the left.

Charles Bronson movies and see what happens?
Open carry, especially at bars and other drinking establishments.
There's no better deterrent to shooting violence than every last one of us carrying guns.
You just never know when somebody's going come up from behind you and shoot you.
tight rope guy (Wallenda) to tight rope walk across the stadium on game day.
That would blow away the fly over and the parachute guy. Totally worth the increase in ticket prices.

The game really has no significance except to them.
Now, if you're talking about other sports. BBall and hockey? That's a different question.
wasn't one when I was down there 5 years ago.

Good god this is a great game - a lot of hitting and scoring chances. And man these two teams hate each other. Great rivalry.

Live tackling? If so, I hope to God they wrap Denard in bubble wrap.
