I would say there’s no car…

I would say there’s no car company that encapsulates my moral values. Your Musk points stand, but the original Ford was pro-fascism, and American car companies for the most part are short term profit driven entities and have completely ignored the need to transition to carbon-less tech until only very recently and only due to pressure in the market from other companies (including Tesla). Chinese companies clearly have the best design and tech behind them, but the other issues with purchasing from them go without saying. Lucid just took money from Saudi Arabia. Don’t know about the European and other Asian based car companies, but it’s really hard to find a “moral” car company.

I doubted this team once all season, last week when we didn’t convert the fumble recovery into points.

Lesson learned. They’ve got this.

I rescind my only two posts…

I rescind my only two posts in this forum stating that we did not have to throw it and JJ's play doesn't matter.

I don't think JJ's play at…

I don't think JJ's play at this point matters one way or the other (so long as he's not turning it over). They can't move the ball on the ground or the air, and we can definitely do it on the ground.

We should just continue to…

We should just continue to pound the run. They have yet to demonstrate they can stop it. We've had maybe two or three go for less than 4 yards.

When a patient comes to you…

When a patient comes to you for a second opinion, you’re almost always going to do more testing than the original doctor (usually unnecessary). Occasionally you may find something. Even if this was a small ligament tear, it’d be treated initially the same way. Rest/NSAIDs for a period of time, followed by PT. If it doesn’t get better look for further problems.
A lot of patients are uncomfortable with the “we think it’s x, treat conservatively. We don’t know for sure, but the alternatives (arthroscopy/MRI) come with risks themselves so let’s wait and see”.

Wife and I were at this game, her first one. I didn’t know that was the night it started, but I remember us laughing and singing it. Too bad the way that night ended.

Transfer portal goes both…

Transfer portal goes both ways. I don’t think he could force McCord out, but he can definitely tell him there will be more competition next year.

Harbaugh did this with Shea, O’Korn, and OL. It sucks when it happens, but the transfer portal is overall good imo. Also, I think it brings more balance to the teams. It makes smaller schools less likely to compete, but there are more schools in a given year who can compete and it’s only been a few years.

Delete - double post.

Maybe, but those are all…

Maybe, but those are all unproven guys at this point. I’d still want my starter on the roster. Arch Manning’s recruiting profile is all SEC, a few other southern school and then ND. It would be like OSU to get a great QB out of the portal, but I’m sure LSU/ND/USC/Clemson etc could offer a similar NIL package.

Wow. I cannot believe this,…

Wow. I cannot believe this, when was the last time you saw a starter transfer out of a power like this with no obvious answer to his replacement? Hurts had Tua.

You can make the argument…

You can make the argument based on player availability that FSU shouldn’t be in. But, they did just beat a highly ranked team, and they should at least get their second string back. You can’t say what they look like with the second string based on one week (if you selected only BGSU for JJ, we’d all have a lot to say about him). They are in. Texas should be in with head to head tie-breaker.

Also, the ACC has the best record for out of conference games and the SEC has the worst this year.

JJ was slinging darts last week. He's missed one throw today, otherwise pretty accurate. Our biggest problem is O-line pass protection and receiver separation.

He’s saying OSU is out, and he wants to see the debate between putting one of Texas, Georgia, or Alabama should Alabama win.

Thankfully the selection is…

Thankfully the selection is on Sunday at noon. Not a lot of time for pundits to make a big deal about us and have it catch traction. Plus, the NFL will be on so the amount of attention it gets Sunday morning is probably small in comparison to what it could be.

One thing I look forward to…

One thing I look forward to is these two teams not getting to build their entire roster/gameplan in response to one another. It will be nice to have other teams in the conference that demand an ability to play multiple styles, as opposed to the mediocrity across the league right now.

It's stupid to take out an…

It's stupid to take out an undefeated team that plays in a P5 conference. Especially is FSU beats a ranked Louisville team. And if anything, if Texas wins they should replace a 1 loss Georgia if Michigan, Washington and FSU all win their games.

What is the incentive to schedule a potential Out of Conference Playoff opponent in the regular season if your win is not going to be beneficial to you in this scenario? I'd be livid if I was Texas and missed out in that scenario, especially going on the road and doing it.

I just looked it up, it's a…

I just looked it up, it's a combination of media and coaches, but I'm not sure what the formula is.

Ahh, didn't realize the…

Ahh, didn't realize the aggregate the coaches and media for those ones.

How is Loveland first-team…

How is Loveland first-team but Stover is tight-end of the year? Makes no sense.

I think we should have two…

I think we should have two super conferences (B1G and blend of PAC-12/Big-12, SEC and blend of ACC/Big-12) with two divisions. Winners of their divisions play the "conference championships" which are playoff games. We then play for a national championship. Retains the importance of Rivalries, prevents rematches, and allows for a national championship based on on-field performance.

I get it's funny to laugh at…

I get it's funny to laugh at, but I'm going to defend the hype ritual a little. I like when coaches have fun with their players, and this is probably a healthier culture than Urban Meyer's based on NFL reports.

His players came to play, there were times they didn't get as aggressive as they needed to (MHJ and Johnson on the pick), but that 75 yard drive where they ran it over and over again showed that they were not going to back down. Their WR playing to the whistle on the catch/fumble at the end of the game while our safety got too excited and celebrated shows that the focus probably wasn't too different.

Ultimately the trenches issue is big, they had to trap our weakest run-defending lineman on the field to consistently move the ball on that drive. They couldn't get to McCarthy, which is the only way to stop him. But the biggest is his play calling. At the end of the first half when that 4th and short came up I was stunned they didn't go for it.

This is really good data…

This is really good data. From what I have seen when we play them year to year, there is not a lot of "special" play designs created for the the big games. I can think of 5-6 plays we have ran on offense that were clever and countered our tendencies, and were pivotal in sustaining a drive and/or getting into scoring position. OSU doesn't seem to have this, and probably doesn't because they believe their talent and execution alone can make the difference.

Additionally, as has been mentioned, this is an NFL factory we are playing. A lot of their guys go there with expectation that they will be showcased for scouts and have an opportunity to put up big numbers. No knock on them, in a world that profits at their expense I honestly think this is the appropriate approach, but you can see the difference in that attitude on plays such as Marvin not trying to break-up the pass or tackle Will Johnson.

And based on the stories from the NFL about Urban Meyer, I would bet a pretty penny that he probably bullied his players at OSU into playing more aggressive.

Maybe but I'm very skeptical…

Maybe but I'm very skeptical about this. Alabama lost 700,000 fans in one year, almost 20% of their total? And UCLA has more fans than USC or Oregon? It seems odd, but I suspect this is taking a large sample size beyond people who tune in every week (people who watch 2-3 games a year) and a lot of fair weathered types.

I believe this is the…

I believe this is the percentage of tv's tuned into the broadcast. So a 9.0 means that 9% of TV's in America were tuned into the game.

It would have to be SEC,…

It would have to be SEC, independent or super conference. I did a ratings table for the ACC, similar to the forum on the B1G I posted a few weeks ago, and it is bad. Clemson and Notre Dame had 3.2 million viewers and Clemson/FSU had 3.38 in 2022. Most of Notre Dame's games couldn't assessed due to being on Peacock (information is not available for the streamer), but the exclusive televised game with Clemson which was broadcast when Clemson was still considered a possible playoff candidate had horrible ratings compared to my expectations. I don't see how only adding us changes that TV contract significantly.

When I watch it, it’s hard…

When I watch it, it’s hard to tell if he definitively secures it. He goes four or five steps while attempting to secure it, and just as he is crossing the plane it looks like he has it. I think the call has to stand, whichever way it’s called on the field. It’s almost like a basketball player bobbling a pass for 4 or 5 steps. Would you call it a travel?

Ehh it’s a fun thing to say…

Ehh it’s a fun thing to say and dream about Harbaugh and JJ continuing the connection in the NFL. Realistically, JJ is probably the 4th or 5th guy off the board unless he balls out in the CFP. I do think the Bears should move on from Fields though. He’s bottom half of League QBs, and while that’s still really good if you’re not top 10 you’re not starting for long.

Who knows. Honestly, if he…

Who knows. Honestly, if he leaves after this year it wouldn’t surprise me and I wouldn’t blame him. The NCAA and Big Ten are messes of institutions in regards to how they police their schools and administer punishments. It would be cool to see him go to the Bears and get to coach JJ.

I think between Jedd, Moore and Minter we have a lot of great options for a successor.

Made the MGoCocktail for the first time. Wife wants to open a cocktail bar one day, she thinks my fandom is ridiculous so this is how I roped her in.

No, no SEC team. I think if…

No, no SEC team. I think if FSU is undefeated and beats a ranked team without their starter, you have to keep them in the top 4. Georgia should be behind Alabama if they lose (how could you not treat that as an elimination game?). The only issue in my scenario is if Oregon beats Washington. Would Alabama jump Oregon?

JJ maybe tries to make the…

JJ maybe tries to make the throw, but I suspect he bails out right, throws it away, or throws it out to the flat and lives for another down. You got enough time to get to the endzone with 4 to 5 plays.

Watched it again. You’re…

Watched it again. You’re right, his head does seem to be turned that way initially. He does look at MHJ before he (MHJ) gets to the break, but has maybe a second to make the decision to throw and holds it just a bit too long. I’ve never played QB so idk how difficult it is to make that decision, but all around great defense by our guys creating the opportunity.

Bama beats Georgia and the…

Bama beats Georgia and the committee does the right thing by putting Texas in after they beat Bama head to head. FSU wins their game and Wash/Oregon can play out either way, but preferably Wash. We get Texas in the first round.

McCord is late on the throw…

McCord is late on the throw too, if he lets it fly as Harrison is getting to his break Moore can’t get there. The LB might have a chance at the play but most likely incomplete.

Our biggest runs have been off the left side though. That last one and Corum's TD.

JJ is playing smart. Don't put this ball in trouble. Take the easy stuff. If he needs to be a hero at the end sure, but I don't think OSU threatens that.
