I like the idea, but we have no data on Orji’s hands or ability as a blocker, so his usage is limited and sends a message to the defense what the play will most likely be with his presence out there. Orji looks physically imposing, but I don’t see him as a downhill bruising blocker or back the way Bredeson could be. I do like the idea of a double pass type of design with Orji out there, I wish we had more opportunities to see him throw!
If you feel so inclined to add players that are older than sophomores I wouldn’t object, as I am equally excited that they are also returning. My thought was that the sophomores and below are at least filtered out from the possibility of graduation or the NFL. If only the portal could only remove the excess fat and add muscle the way all weight loss in the offseason does, that would be terrific, but I’m also sad at the possibility that some promising freshmen and sophomores may also elect for the portal. Such is life I suppose.
I would have to agree with the assertion that 1997 had the slightly better defense talent-wise, but this team dealt with much more complexity and against a wide variety of offenses all year. They downloaded at least three base defenses and didn’t skip a beat throughout. I was especially impressed by the low percentage of missed tackles. Credit to the entire staff, not to forget coach Herbert getting three stars to look like fives out there!
Is it me or are there a lot of external factors trying to pressure us this year? Any idea why they don’t want “America’s team” to win (other than money)??
I couldn’t believe the stat when I saw it that the 2nd string OSU QB hadn’t taken a snap since the early part of the year. I’m so used to seeing our 3-4th string (every position) out there every 4th quarter that it blew my mind they don’t take advantage of getting younger players live reps the way we do. I feel like we also discover talent more obviously watching live reps, (Loveland and Semaj Morgan come to mind immediately) not sure how Day overlooks such a simple practice but I’m no longer that surprised…
Something tells me we’re going to use this team to practice some serious manball before the BIG games start. I kinda feel bad for those little defenders, it looks like we literally outweigh them at every position pretty drastically.
I’m of the strong opinion that the smiling Asian lady actually controls everything and the other guy is just there for show. She just hits a play button, it’s actually a sweet gig
During covid the only sport to not add in “crowd noise” was the UFC. It was so quiet you could hear the fighters breathing, much less the screams from the coaches. It was so quiet the fighters could hear the commentary from the announcers and used it in the fights! I really wish other sports had done the same, it would’ve been incredible to hear football especially!
Nice to see Edwards get his receiving touches! Glad JJ is looking for him, that will pay off eventually with big breaks considering his elusive skills!
I’d say it would be fun to do this with the entire team (all positions), but as a numbers person I understand why it wouldn’t be fair to compare after adding too many variables.
Speaking of variables, what if the opponents aren’t perfectly equal when we compare performances? If the UNLV guy is better than the ECU guy it would throw off our comparison quite a bit. It’s hard to tell if the opponent's rating is a 40 (terrible) or 60 (just bad).
I recommend wood burning too, it really adds an artistic element to woodworking! There are very interesting designs and processes that enhance the natural beauty of the wood, it gets to be quite an addicting and satisfying hobby!
