Home and throwbacks look good. White and gray ones not so much

I like it. More rivalry matchups in the playoffs each year. Pitt/Washington would probably have to go through each other at some point. Just comes a round earlier than in the old format. But they'll get an easier matchup in the conference finals presumably.
So much parity in hockey that every matchup every round could see either team win. I think the format would be a much bigger deal in any other sport, but I don't think it makes a significant difference in the NHL.

If Bridges comes back next season, no reason to expect them to suck. Bridges would contend for BTPOY easily, Ward will have another year of conditioning under his belt, Langford made huge strides toward the end of the year and they're bringing in a good class.
Elite? Nah. But bad? Definitely not IMO.

Looking at Hakstol means he's willing to look outside of the Michigan family. But it's strange that it doesn't include Bazin and Leaman. Maybe they'll still be looked at, we'll see.

Just seems weird to be looking at Hakstol and not Bazin/Leaman.

I think he's referring to your inclusion of Ericsson. Maybe you meant Kronwall?

Realistic conversations start with Bazin and Leaman IMO. Then move onto Blashill. Then other options. Don't think Montgomery is a real option.

While it is the home of the Pistons three titles, I hate that place. Really annoying to go to a game there IMO. I'm from SE Michigan, about five minutes from the Ohio border, but I'll go to more Pistons games now that they'll be downtown.

They should just keep a rotation between continents for hosting. And the continental confederations determine where the games will be played. I know the US could host on its own, but for the sake of the rest of the nations in the world, I think there should only be joint bids accepted going forward. National leaders won't feel the need to put up the funds for the money pits that are stadiums.
WC loses its intimate feel with joint bids. But that was always going to go away when the tournament expanded to 48 teams because there are very few countries that could host on their own. And FIFA would like to be more inclusive of where games are played.

I don't see how he's made it worse. He's done alright with the younger players, but we had limited roster flexibility before trades so even if he wanted to focus on young guys, it would have been hard. I'm fine with keeping him during this rebuilding process. No reason to hire another coach when he won't have the tools to succeed. Unless it's like a no brainer hire.

Recruiting is just fine regardless of who is coach next year. Cole just means MSU will be bigger comp for players in the NDT pool. But we will still be fine.

I'd prioritize Alstork because he fits needs better. But if DJ makes the jump, gotta go hard after Johnson.

Cain is a much different player than Livers. Cain has more guard type skills than Livers does. I would have taken both if I was the coach because I don't think there's any chance we get Bamba. But if we get that grad transfer from Wright St, I think that'll be great too.

We are not recruiting at a level so terrible that this is going to hurt the program long term. There is still enough talent currently in and coming to Ann Arbor that the next coach will have something to work with. If he comes back, I hope it's because the top targets are not willing to come at this moment in time. Dont' want to make a change and hire the wrong guy.

Head coach can wait. We won't contend until we truly rebuild, which will take a few years. Blashill has done just about what you'd expect given the roster. He did a good job developing the kids in Grand Rapids so I'm fine with giving him a couple more as we bring along more youngsters

While it is sad to see the streak end, it's nice to see that Holland finally recognized some things had to change and traded some guys away at the deadline. Will probably have to do the same next year, which is fine
And at least in our playoff streaks, we won Cups unlike Chicago and the Blues during their long streaks

Best I can come up with? I'm just trying to get clarification on what you're thinking regarding depth for next season. Not trying to put you down or anything like that. If you're being defensive about my comments, probably says more about you than me as I'm not getting personal *shrug*
In a discussion about what depth would look like next season, you asked if I'd be surprised if some played frequently against inferior opponents or blowouts. That is what you are using to determine if they qualify as depth. Hibbits, Wright-Jones, Lonergan and Watson all played in double digit games. Almost all against crappy competition or in games already decided. Why are the walk one not counted for depth?
We won't roll "legitimately 12 deep" because we most likely won't have 12 players capable of contributing in those important games. Not because JB will limit the rotation. He will, but it'll be because we don't have the depth to roll 12 deep and it makes no sense to play 12 players.

Anyone know of any retail stores in Toledo or Dundee area that will have it today?
|4 weeks 10 hours ago||You miscalculated even by||
You miscalculated even by your own standards. According to you, Hibbitts and Lonergan and Wright Jones would be depth because they've played minutes against crappy teams. So by either of our definitions of depth, you're wrong.
|4 weeks 18 hours ago||"Legitimately roll 12 deep"||
"Legitimately roll 12 deep" means you think we are going to have 12 players capable of playing significant minutes. At least that's what I consider depth to be. Now you're saying depth consists of people playing against inferior opponents? That makes no sense. According to your standards, Teske and Watson were depth this season. They weren't ready to significantly contribute, which is fine. But in no way were they depth. I highly doubt we will have 12 players that will significantly contribute. If depth is just plyers that play, we will probably be 14-15 deep after you count walk ons.....
|4 weeks 20 hours ago||You're the one saying we will||
I've made no statements saying none of our guys will develop. You're the one saying we will roll 12 deep next year. If anyone needs some patience, it's you.
|4 weeks 21 hours ago||I highly doubt they give us a||
I highly doubt they give us a boost on defense as Poole and Livers have both had less than glowing reviews on that end of the court (which is not unexpected for freshmen under JB).
|4 weeks 21 hours ago||It is insanely optimistic to||
It is insanely optimistic to say we could roll 12 deep when five of the players you listed have not played one minute for Michigan and three played spot minutes.
I think our starting lineup plus Duncan are set to be solid. I think X will be ready for major minutes as most JB PGs have made steady improvements by their second year. And I think Matthews will be a good player for us despite only seeing him a bit at Kentucky and only practice reports to go on now. I think we can comfortably say that those two will be solid contributors at the least.
But we have no idea how good Teske/Davis/Watson and the freshmen will do. Brooks, Poole and Livers could struggle to adjust to the college game right away for all we know. Though I personally think they'll be ready for 10sh minutes a game.
