Honestly, I find myself rooting against the US in international basketball compeitions. Just for the sake of some intrigue in the next tournament.

Our last two coaching searches went splendidly. So yeah, if it's up to us to find them, I'm not that optimistic.

The dowside to speculation for me is that outside the Harbaughs and Miles, the options look fucking depressing.

Seems like you need BTN+ to watch any sport other than football (and basketball I'm assuming). Sucks and means I'll be deleting the app as the only reason I have BTN2Go is to watch the non revenue sports. Was really hoping to watch as much M soccer as I could this year. Don't even have a radio broadcast for games on MGoBlue. I think soccer could end up being a revenue sport at some schools but you gotta build the fanbase first and charging people for a subscription for a quick buck (and I doubt a huge amount of people are subscribing to BTN+) is shortsighted IMO

I don't think Brandon is responsible for the number of TV timeouts, that's a sport wide thing (though I'm sure Brandon is one of the ones fine with further commercialization of the sport).
But yeah, it is getting harder and harder for me to enjoy football (pro or college) with all the commercial breaks. And I have yet to have an enjoyable experience attending a game due to all the stoppages. Hockey and soccer are by far the better spectator sports IMO.

I think you could make a similar thread for any announcing team. Honestly, I can't think of one I enjoy.

I'm kind of upset they have a TV show as I'm anticipating an influx in business for them and don't want it to be too crowded when I get the chance to visit (which is only 2-3 times a year). Selfish of me, I know. My favorite brewery and the food is pretty good too.

PBR is syrupy? I think it goes down like water. Sometimes I'm not even sure I'm drinking beer when I'm consuming it.

I think you are drawing too much from the performance of the C in these games, same with the PG. Our PG will be just fine. We may not know exactly how good they will be, but we have significant sample sizes in seeing how Spike and Walton can perform.

Roma is my second team. Great offseason and I'll be disappointed if we aren't in the race for the scudetto going into the last two weekends.

And if you want to see some real footy, tune into Wolves-Rotherham. Should be streams somewhere online. In the two games they played last year, there were 16 goals combined. Should be enough for the pundits that think soccer is boring ;)

In other English footy news, Emerson Hyndman, an 18 year old American MF is making his second consecutive start for Fulham in the Championship today. From perusing Fulham forums after their game last week, everyone had his performance as a 7-8 out of 10. Don't know what level of prospect he is considered for the USMNT, but good to see a Yank getting quality time.

I'm a Wolves fan obviously, but I still watch the Prem faithfully. Lots of great storylines this year.

Wouldn't mind another Navarre, with the caveat that he isn't forced to player earlier than he should've like Navarre did with Henson's injury and then departure.

At 6'6", 235, he should be able to add some mph to that fastball and some more bite to his breaking pitches with some college level coaching and S&C. Very exciting prospect

I have a good feeling in the sense that I think this upcoming season will be less frustrating than the past two. We had uncertainty at the goalie position the past two years. Now we have two experienced options. And I think both can get the job done. We don't have more talent up and down the roster than the past couple seasons IMO, but we will have more consistency and effort, which should keep results consistent.
I'm not expecting great things from this team but I also don't think this year's squad will have us pulling out our hair every other game.
|11 weeks 2 days ago||Where did I say there was||
Where did I say there was little time? I said he'd have less time in college than he would as a pro. The time to make improvements is in the offseason. For whatever reason, Nik and Caris were able to make improvements and GR3 wasn't able to make as drastic of a jump forward as a sophomore as those guys.
I don't disagree that you'd prefer to improve your stock and game before that draft (that is pretty much common sense). But who says he makes a big step before next year's draft? He was lottery in 2013. Late 1st/early 2nd in 2014. I don't think his stock skyrockets in 2015 unless he was able to make huge improvements. And he's just as likely to make those improvements as a pro his rookie year, riding the bench getting spot minutes, as he is with a third year in college playing in a system that does not highlight his skills.

Monroe is not a 20-10 guy. And his defense is not very good. Smith scores about the same as Moose, rebounds a little less but gives you a bigger lift on defense if he's allowed to play the four, not the three. I am fine with keeping either Monroe or Smith. But one needs to go and Monroe is obviously the easier one to move.
|11 weeks 3 days ago||I think GR3 made the bad||
I think GR3 made the bad decision last year when he decided to stay. Would have probably been close to a lottery pick in the 2013 draft and made more money. No guarantees his stock goes up or down with another year at Michigan. And for posters saying "he needed to work on his handle and shot another year", can he not do that as an NBA player? His whole day can be dedicated to basketball as a pro. In college, he has other obligations. Whether GR3 makes it in the league is not going to depend on when he left school IMO.

Last summer, I found myself with 3 free days and just took a trip around the coast of Michigan. I didn't really have a plan, just stopped at places I thought looked interesting or had heard about. It was alot of fun. Alot of fun.
|12 weeks 5 days ago||If you don't have insight||
If you don't have insight into a certain topic, then why say a team can or can't do ______. And stop adhering desperately to your uninformed opinion when confronted about it.
And saying we won't win 8 games is kind of silly. That's where the over/under will be set. So it's not like this is a team that went 3-9 and 8 games would be a huge reach. 8 games is definitely doable, while still being a disappointment. So don't complain when you're getting negged for "going against the grain" when you're really just being contrarian to be an asshole.
|12 weeks 5 days ago||We've been horrible at it||
We've been horrible at it because we don't have an outlet. Losing Altidore hurts because we can't play defensive and expect alot of opportunities on the counter because we have no one to hold it up. It's incredibly ironic that the players we really wish we could have on this team after the Altidore injury are Eddie Johnson or Terrence Boyd and not Landon Donovan.
|12 weeks 5 days ago||There are plenty of posters||
There are plenty of posters that are not "sunshine and roses" posters that don't amass 5 downvotes per post. It's the definitive manner in which you post that gets you the downvotes, not the fact you're being negative. As if you are the authority on what can and can't happen. Maybe provide some real insight why US can't tie Germany or why we can't win 8 games in football next season and you won't get negbombed.

5 is a mirror image of 2 (kind of). Hopefully Peppers' career is close to a mirror image of Woodson's.

You'll have to link me to these English media outlets that were boasting about them before the WC. Even the fans I've interacted with were incredibly pessimistic about their chances. Most newspapers I read reflected that sentiment.
Now, English fans may boast when comparing themselves to American soccer and its fans. But not so much with their national team recently.

2nd best goal of the tournament so far. It's unfortunate that Australia got put in Group B. They are playing pretty well and would get out of almost any other group IMO
|13 weeks 3 days ago||Definitely seemed like that||
Definitely seemed like that goal was the kick in the ass they needed to get going. Subs made a big difference as well. Last 20 third of the second half, it was all Russia and South Korea was reeling, putting all 11 guys back deep when Russia was threatening, not even leaving themselves an outlet for a counter.
