I don't disagree and think he had a good year, but the timing of his benching was very strange. He was pretty solid in January - 47% from the field, 8.5ppg, 3 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.7 spg and played solid defense (something few on the team did). Not spectacular, but definitely worthy of keeping some consistent playing time. Following January, his minutes in games in February were as follows: 21, 8, 13, 8, 12, 21, 9, 10, 3, 3, 14, 2, 11. I don't know how anyone maintains any consistency getting those minutes. And even if the Pistons were still trying to get into the playoffs at that point, he should have been getting at least 25 minutes a night the last two months as we started to tank. I mean, they were giving Jerebko some pretty solid playing time the last month. I mean, why is a 27 year old role playing getting 20+mpg consistently, but your rookie SG who isn't a tire fire isn't when you're not even trying to win games? Makes no sense.

I think he makes a compelling case. And I don't think he's ever said Burke sucks. Just that he's not as great as many on here seem to think

That core group was not going to contend anymore. It needed to be rebuilt. I have a bigger problem with extending Hamilton and what he did with the cap space from the Iverson deal the next summer than the actual trade.

Glad he is staying in the organization. Probably could have come sooner, but it is what is it is. I don't think the roster is as big of a mess going forward as some think, but we will see.

Up 2-1 on the Illini in the 5th on two sac flies. Would be a big series win.

To be fair, the Masters comes once a year for four days. Tigers play at least 162 times a year and the game was in April, not down the home stretch or the playoffs. I think your cousin was justified :P

Phil's shot from behind tree on the pine needles in 2010 (IIRC) is still one of the greatest shots I've ever seen. Incredible. Maybe my biggest Masters memory.

I don't think it's strange at all that points are split after a tie in regulation. That makes complete sense to me. And I agree that a team that wins in OT should get two points. But shootouts are a terrible way to determine another point. I'd rather they tie and each get one point then get rewarded for scoring more in a shootout than the other team.

The fact that teams get a point for a shootout win is still just infuriating to me. But I'll take the point and the playoff appearance.

Personally, I don't understand the "do we have to make a big deal about this? crowd. You don't have to participate in the conversation, watch the talking heads discuss it or read every article about it. If you're tired of hearing about it, it's kind of your fault. I don't think it's coming up too much in every day conversation. All you really have to do is avoid Sportscenter, First Take, and sports talk radio and these are things everybody should be avoiding in the first place. Nobody is making you click these threads or articles. You're contributing to it being a prevalent issue by doing so. I can anticipate the media going beserk about such news and yet I will probably never lick on an article about it because I don't need to. So despite it being so prevalent, I haven't been bombarded with it because I have chosen to do so.

I don't think your opinion is based on much. It's not like we had people banging on the doors of Crisler days before games to get tickets to watch Trey play at Michigan. Why would a significant amount of Michigan fans be going to the middle of nowhere to watch a rookie play inconsistently on a crappy team? Any miniscule bump that the Pistons would have initially received would have disappeared when their record kept creeping farther away from .500.

We have an established culture of work ethic in our basketball program. Stu and Zack got every ounce out of their potential by working hard, Trey and THJ worked to improve every offseason, JMo has been great, Caris, Nik and GR3 put in some heavy work in transforming this offseason, and it sounds like our 13 class is planning on doing the same. Long may it continue, as it is helping perpetuate our success.
Major props to JB for being a great coach and teacher and finding kids with great attitudes and work ethics. And major props to the kids that will do anything to get better.

If anyone, we should have drafted the Greek Freak. But if they did a redraft, he'd have gone top 3 most likely.
|1 week 2 days ago||Trey Burke would not have a||
Trey Burke would not have a significant long term impact on attendance and TV ratings. Fact is, the Pistons would be a little worse with Burke instead of Jennings if you look at any advanced metrics. We'd still suck. Winning will put butts in the seats and eyes on the TV in the long term. Not a PG from a school that only half the state roots for.
Attendance is so bad at the Palace because the product sucks (and still would with Trey running the point) and because it's in the most god awful location. I refuse to go to the games because it's a big annoyance to get there and leave. If the Pistons were actually in Detroit, attendance might not be great but it wouldn't be as dismal as it is IMO.

Okur, Stuckey, and Maxiell were good picks too. Jerebko wasn't bad for a second rounder either.

It would be an even more atrocious defensive team than the Pistons are now.

I would hardly call him a "must get". That's portraying him as someone we need to be successful. He'd be a HUGE get, we will probably be just fine if we do not get his commitment.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||When you recruit against||
When you recruit against Duke, Kansas, UNCs etc, you are going to lose a clear majority of the time. He probably won't stay in the B1G so that's fine with me if he doesn't go to Michigan

|2 weeks 6 days ago||We might not be in his top 4.||
We might not be in his top 4. But is there alot of separation b/w his top 4 and his top 8 right now? I mean, what is really significant about a top 4 at this point? Unless he's deciding relatively soon, it's kind of useless information.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||I have never said that Roy||
I have never said that Roy Manning can't. My only argument is that it is not true that "if you can coach football, you can coach any position." It's not true for every coach. Even some good coaches.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||He's never had a job outside||
He's never had a job outside of Michigan. Owner is an MSU alum. Andre Drummond could end up being the best player in the division. Potential for front office responsibilities as well as coaching. If he left for the NBA, it would be the Pistons. I can't see him coaching anywhere outside the Midwest.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Yeah, that's temperament. If||
Yeah, that's temperament. If he coaches games and practices with the same intensity as he does in college, he will have a heart attack by the end of his first season.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Coaching is teaching. But if||
Coaching is teaching. But if I'm an expert in the history of the Polish people, I can teach a class on that. Does it guarantee that I'm going to be able to teach a class on Russia? No. It makes it more likely, but it doesn't guarantee anything. Again, I'm not saying Manning can't or that he won't.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||I've never said that a coach||
I've never said that a coach is incapable of coaching of multiple positions. But to act like it's a given is silly. Lots of coaches can do it at a high level. Some can't. Just because you're a great WR coach doesn't mean you're going to be a great RB coach.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||Not all good coaches can||
Not all good coaches can coach anywhere on the field. To make such an absolute statement is silly.
Again, I never said that you have to play the position to coach it. But just because you're a great WR coach doesn't mean you are pretty much guaranteed to be a good RB coach.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||That's not true at all. Each||
That's not true at all. Each position has different techniques and responsibilities. Not saying Manning can't coach CB, WR, or w/e position, but just because he can coach one position doesn't mean he can coach another.
