Where did I say there was little time? I said he'd have less time in college than he would as a pro. The time to make improvements is in the offseason. For whatever reason, Nik and Caris were able to make improvements and GR3 wasn't able to make as drastic of a jump forward as a sophomore as those guys.
I don't disagree that you'd prefer to improve your stock and game before that draft (that is pretty much common sense). But who says he makes a big step before next year's draft? He was lottery in 2013. Late 1st/early 2nd in 2014. I don't think his stock skyrockets in 2015 unless he was able to make huge improvements. And he's just as likely to make those improvements as a pro his rookie year, riding the bench getting spot minutes, as he is with a third year in college playing in a system that does not highlight his skills.

Monroe is not a 20-10 guy. And his defense is not very good. Smith scores about the same as Moose, rebounds a little less but gives you a bigger lift on defense if he's allowed to play the four, not the three. I am fine with keeping either Monroe or Smith. But one needs to go and Monroe is obviously the easier one to move.

I think GR3 made the bad decision last year when he decided to stay. Would have probably been close to a lottery pick in the 2013 draft and made more money. No guarantees his stock goes up or down with another year at Michigan. And for posters saying "he needed to work on his handle and shot another year", can he not do that as an NBA player? His whole day can be dedicated to basketball as a pro. In college, he has other obligations. Whether GR3 makes it in the league is not going to depend on when he left school IMO.

Last summer, I found myself with 3 free days and just took a trip around the coast of Michigan. I didn't really have a plan, just stopped at places I thought looked interesting or had heard about. It was alot of fun. Alot of fun.

If you don't have insight into a certain topic, then why say a team can or can't do ______. And stop adhering desperately to your uninformed opinion when confronted about it.
And saying we won't win 8 games is kind of silly. That's where the over/under will be set. So it's not like this is a team that went 3-9 and 8 games would be a huge reach. 8 games is definitely doable, while still being a disappointment. So don't complain when you're getting negged for "going against the grain" when you're really just being contrarian to be an asshole.

We've been horrible at it because we don't have an outlet. Losing Altidore hurts because we can't play defensive and expect alot of opportunities on the counter because we have no one to hold it up. It's incredibly ironic that the players we really wish we could have on this team after the Altidore injury are Eddie Johnson or Terrence Boyd and not Landon Donovan.

There are plenty of posters that are not "sunshine and roses" posters that don't amass 5 downvotes per post. It's the definitive manner in which you post that gets you the downvotes, not the fact you're being negative. As if you are the authority on what can and can't happen. Maybe provide some real insight why US can't tie Germany or why we can't win 8 games in football next season and you won't get negbombed.

5 is a mirror image of 2 (kind of). Hopefully Peppers' career is close to a mirror image of Woodson's.

You'll have to link me to these English media outlets that were boasting about them before the WC. Even the fans I've interacted with were incredibly pessimistic about their chances. Most newspapers I read reflected that sentiment.
Now, English fans may boast when comparing themselves to American soccer and its fans. But not so much with their national team recently.

2nd best goal of the tournament so far. It's unfortunate that Australia got put in Group B. They are playing pretty well and would get out of almost any other group IMO
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Definitely seemed like that||
Definitely seemed like that goal was the kick in the ass they needed to get going. Subs made a big difference as well. Last 20 third of the second half, it was all Russia and South Korea was reeling, putting all 11 guys back deep when Russia was threatening, not even leaving themselves an outlet for a counter.

Robert Green was in goal, not Joe Hart

On one hand, the 3 points was probably not deserved based on how we played the entire game. On the other hand, we just won a game when our best field player (Bradley) had one of the worst games of his life. Big game against Portugal. Let's do it!!

Honestly, I feel like the actual WC itself would go smoothly in Qatar, but the process by which everything is completed is where the problem is. Qatar is a wealthy country and they will have things organized because they have the money and there is no shortage of poor people in the world trying to work their way up and taking the risk of working in Qatar to do so. So if they're able to keep the bid, they'll have everything ready. But it'll have just been done in a corrupt and inhumane manner.

My girlfriend is in the Peace Corps in Ecuador right now. She went to mass with her host family this morning and everyone was wearing their national team jerseys. Tough ending and she says everyone is gutted

Wow. I predicted that Costa Rica would shock someone, but I thought it'd be England.

Wow. Next to nothing to in the Midwest. Surprised Chicago is not on there.

Wonder if Uruguay are just saving Suarez in this one to make sure he's fitter for the Italy and England matches, where they'll release a front line of Cavani-Suarez-Forlan.

Navas picked the right direction, got away with creeping off the line but it was almost a perfect penalty from Cavani.

My dad and his side of the family are from Pennsylvania and big Steelers fans. They're in a period of mourning. Coached the Steelers for over 20 years IIRC. Won't see a guy do that again for a while IMO. Belichick is the only guy I could see doing it, but he'd still have to coach 6 more seasons.

So Italy and England shouldn't be playing in Manaus. Weird, JMO
|3 weeks 4 days ago||Group C is going to be the||
Group C is going to be the most interesting group IMO. 4 teams that all have a legit shot to get out. None of the teams are elite, but lots to watch in those matches. I think Ivory Coast will finally get out of their group though.
Group D will be fun as all. Not sure why the England-Italy and Uruguay-Costa Rica match times were not switched. Makes much more sense to get max European and South/Central American TV sets tuned in.

I don't think the metro area is expanding or anything, according to census data it's pretty much he same as I has be the last few decades. Most MLS cities are either big soccer hotbeds or have a strong Hispanic population. Detroit doesn't really fit either of those. I think we could support an MLS team, but I don't think there's much incentive to give one to Detroit over the other candidates. And it's still a bit riskier than the others.

It was Pontiac, and filling a game for a World Cup is vastly different than sustaining enough attendance for an MLS team for the long term

While I still expect Chile to walk away with this one, they will feel it tomorrow. Australia playing a very physical match.

Well, the Socceroos are in for a rough night. Spain might not be at the bottom of the group by the end of the night.

I'm glad they're at least letting him have opportunities with Champions League Final and the FA Cup. But I think he needs to be announcing lots of games to get his quality up. Hopefully Fox improves over the next four years.

They have alot of games. But that's the only quality they have IMO. Their analysts are generally awful, whether it be the color guys or in studio.

30for30, Grantland and soccer are the only things ESPN does well IMO. And now Fox is getting the next World Cup. Ugh.
