I think it's hasty to judge a I think it's hasty to judge a person's character based on a few fairly isolated instances of them yelling. Michigan's coaches certainly yell at the players from time to time - just because Brian Kelly's face turns a particular shade doesn't make him a worse person. There's also every chance that he is embarrassed about these video clips which appear, showing him at his worst, and is working on those behaviours. Acting poorly doesn't forever taint him as a bad person any more than James Franklin kicking a field goal down several scores once taints him as a poor coach.
It was very very poor

It was very very poor tackling technique though.

Not targeting

By rule, he wasn't a defenseless player, hence not targeting.

I understand the benefit, I

I understand the benefit, I don't understand why people do it though. If you want to contribute to a great/intimidating atmosphere, sing songs or something fun.

Clemson band

Why do the Clemson band hold a single note when Louisville's offense is at the line? Even if it's not against the rules, it's not very sporting.

Really don't understand the practice of the crowd going 'UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH' whenever the opposition is on offense, you must be really drunk to not feel a complete idiot doing that.

CBS have the AFC title game, CBS have the AFC title game, but that'll surely be done by Nantz and Simms.
Unless I'm mistaken, the line Unless I'm mistaken, the line 'opened'yesterday so the comments along the lines of 'well yeah, they just won by 5 touchdowns are missing the point. The line moving means that the betting was on msu to cover. I can't disagree to be honest, until M win a road game against a decent team the assumption is that they will crumble. Hoke's best road win is what? At NW in 2011?
The pitch

Are people really blaming Fitz for the fumble on the pitch? It was low and fast, generally you want to make pitches as easy as possible because a drop is disastrous. It's been coming all year with the way Devin pitches.

If that's in London you

If that's in London you should know that's because we would never say anything to strangers in public other than 'excuse me' 'sorry' or 'thanks', we still all like Michigan (wildly extrapolated from sample size of one)

I really hope this is not the I really hope this is not the case. If he's ready, play him. If he's not, please don't rush him back to win a game. I hope that the team's record would never come into the decision.
Are there even 420 players in

Are there even 420 players in the NBA?

Almost beats is a little

Almost beats is a little strong.

I am a little irked that 1 loss Florida has eased over M again for...beating Kentucky and Tennessee? I think some people do their rankings based on how good they think the team is rather than how good their season's been.

If Derrick were to redshirt

If Derrick were to redshirt that would be a very bad sign for him. You don't redshirt 5 star running backs with the current depth at the position. It probably goes without saying but if he is who we hope/think he is, redshirting would just mean he plays 2 years instead of 3 before going pro.

I can't tell if you're being

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or if you really think that's how it's pronounced; it's Not-truh darm.

I think he should be

I think he should be ineligible, not because of those technicalities, but because he's 24. It's not fair and it's not safe for men in their athletic prime to be playing against 18 year olds, I didn't like it when it was Brandon Weeden and I don't like it now, and it further blurs the line in my opinion between collegiate athletics and professional sports.

The whole point was

The whole point was cherrypicking data points, my entire thing was that we aren't interesting the top talent in the country. This is a very good recruiting class, with a huge number of high quality commits at a number of key positions, they're just not getting in on these kids who will be impact playmakers from their freshman year most likely.

The wider point is: this is Michigan, we should be able to attract a lot of 4-stars when they can come in and play but to have great classes year in year out you need to be able to get the guy who doesn't give a damn about depth because he's that good.

Well yeah, the class looks Well yeah, the class looks better if you look at the recruiting site that rates Michigan's class best, 247 gives no 5 stars, and the highest rated player that was even close to coming to M was no 28. And to be honest, the bulk of our class was brought in when OSU were coming off a terrible year and notre dame were still notre dame. And those were Midwest recruits almost exclusively. How many players in the top 25 were Michigan considered by compared to SC, OSU and ND?
I wouldn't say that michigan is recruiting 'so well' Last couple of classes have been good, Michigan classes, but we're still a step behind the likes of Alabama, ND, USC, OSU etc in terms of bringing in top shelf talent, and the only way to change that is to win big 10 championships.
I think he wants to coach in

I think he wants to coach in the NFL, but he's smart enough to not accept the first poisoned chalice that comes his way; if he's offered the Eagles job I think he'd take it.

He does seem like a good guy and I'm sure he would feel bad to leave these kids and his recruits, but this is the time to leave if he's gonna; recruits can still decommit, players can still transfer and he can still claim that it's about the sanctions, not the NFL.

This is almost guaranteed to This is almost guaranteed to be won by a breakaway: the last climb's too hard for cancellara to hope to defend the jersey so shack won't bother chasing them down, and the final climb is too short to open any big gaps. Also that graphic is a bit misleading, it goes above 10% in a few places but it averages about 8.5%: still too tough for cancellara/sagan et al but don't expect wiggins or evans to lose much.
Real lost to Bayern last

Real lost to Bayern last week, a 'tie' gets them diddly poo

Small error in your post

You've written a lot of the same stuff in 'Scorned' as in 'Fortunate Fool', guessing you moved it in a late edit and didn't delete the original.

As for Dunn, dude stood on the M sideline for the Ohio game, when everyone knew that Urban Meyer was going to be their coach. Meyer must be able to talk his way into Jill St. John's bed if Dunns stays a Buckeye after that.

Time for denard to move to rb? It's 2 games, and denard isn't solely to blame, but dude can't throw.
Cancellara will win, Tony Cancellara will win, Tony Martin will be second. Evans really should win the tour, but he should've won in 08 and he choked, so who knows. I hear what you're saying about them killing off the time trial, but it's the best way of making it so the tour is won in the mountains, and not by some wheel sucker like evans. Personally I think they should have a massive mountain time trial over 2 hc climbs, but I guess they would have to close the roads for too long.
Yes, I would think you'll see Yes, I would think you'll see some action from the contenders on the final climb, maybe the margins will be a little bigger this time since it's a much tougher stage...it won't be for the stage victory though, last classic breakaway stage. Hopefully someone other than thor will win.
HTC

It'll be interesting to see what HTC announce tomorrow wrt their future, crazy that they struggle for sponsors given how dominant Cav is in the tour, not to mention Tony Martin, Peter Velits et al.

It's a good job that, given how dull the overall has been, the green jersey competition is the most exciting it's been in years; Cav is cleaning up in the sprints but Gilbert will be a threat for the stage on Wednesday no doubt, Rojas will no doubt get some points also.

Ah good stuff, Phil's been

Ah good stuff, Phil's been doing the tour far longer than I've been alive, love their passion.

Today's stage was a total

Today's stage was a total anticlimax, biggest climb of the race so far and all the contenders just sat watching each other all day. That's why Voeckler was able to keep yellow, and why Vanendert was able to just ease away, he was thinking 'seriously? This is as fast as we're going? Might as well attack then.' I'm worried that the Schlecks are happy with their gap over Contador, so they're just gonna sit back and get destroyed by Evans in the time trial.

Out of interest, which commentators do they have on the American coverage?
