My daughter got me the Detroit Free Press hardcover book from 2022, “Hail, Yes! 25 Years Later: Relive the 1997 Michigan Wolverines’ Run to the Rose Bowl and the National Championship.”

Just in time, before it’s rendered unimportant once we win the 2023 Natty!!

Despite their image as a Tier 1 program,  Miami's fan base doesn't seem very large nor committed. It's evident when you see all the empty seats at their home games. I know their stadium is way too far from their campus to get students there en masse, but the alumni don't attend either.

Can't wait to hear Paul…

Can't wait to hear Paul Finebaum explain away his recent takes on how Harbaugh will NEVER beat OSU. It will be glorious to watch him eat crow.

Sounds like you're describing a Ray Jackson style player, someone Coach Howard knows quite well.

I think you need a hobby.

Don't worry about OU...their Texas loss is looking worse and worse.  Be worried about Georgia running the table & beating Bama in the SEC Championship.  Assuming ND & Clemson stay undefeated, the committee will definitely take a 12-1 Bama over a 12-1 UM.

Regardless, Beat OSU!!

I'm fine with the new site, but hugely miss the MGOBLOG app.  That was my primary method for checking in during the day (when away from my computer), and hence my overall site usage is way down now.

This post combines two of my favorite things...UM recruiting & math.  I am so enjoying it!!

Other way around

Higgins had the game-winning put-back.

So does Kameron Chatman

You're thinking of the wrong game

It's the 2017 game, not the NC game.  This one has a happy ending.

Provided we keep winning...

of course we root for Sparty.  It would be in our best interest (something MSU fans don't seem to grasp) and how sweet would it be for UM to be the team that ends Izzo's run to another Final Four!

Well Done, Sir

I look forward to viewing the next one is early April.

I blame Putin for ordering a hack of Wheatley's Twitter account

to start the "Ty to WMU" rumors. It obvious the Russians would prefer Najee ends up in Alabama, as they are fearful of the rising power of Harbaugh.

Braylon 2.0

After watching that highlight reel, this kid looks like Braylon 2.0.  Add to those skills an amazing work ethic and a genuine desire to keep improving and you've got the recipe for something truly special.  Can't wait to see DJP play for the next 3 years (surely the next great Michigan WR) before leaving to play on Sundays.

Needlessly burning a timeout

I know it didn't end up mattering, but does anyone know why Harbaugh took a time out with the clock stopped before Iowa started their game-winning drive?

We had 3 TOs and thus could have saved time for an ensuing drive if Iowa kicked a FG after not making a first down.  However Harbaugh taking a time out before 1st down with a stopped clock meant that UM wasn't getting the ball back no matter what.

Again, it ended up not being relevant because Iowa made a first down, but that seemed like a total brain fart by Harbaugh that could have really screwed us.  Am I missing something here?

I know I'm old & sentimental, but

I prefer the old method of "earning" the #1.  Forget Braylon, it's an affront to Anthony Carter's legacy to be giving that number out to anyone who wants it.  The #1 jersey at Michigan had a special meaning and was part of our mystique...and I hate to lose that.  I didn't mind at all when the "legends" numbers were used, but this is different, perhaps because my introduction to Michigan football occurred during the AC years.

Now all of you kids get off my lawn!!

I'll take the Over on Iowa

Even if we beat them (and our track record in Iowa City suggests that's no gimme), where are the other 3 losses on their schedule?

Home vs. Miami OH, ISU, NDSU, NW, Wisc, Nebr

Road vs. Rutg, Minn, Pur, PSU, Illini

They'll win 9 easy, and maybe 10 or 11.  Book it.

This is great news for UM fans here in Austin

So happy to have a rare chance to see UM play live.  Hopefully this will go better than last year's SMU game, which I drove up to Dallas for.  That was an ugly beatdown.

Totally agree

Bowls may be the only thing in the current football landscape that actually benefits the kids. Which obviously means the NCAA will eventually get around to screwing them out of that too.

Couldn't agree more

Unless his health has significantly improved, Spike coming back is a feel-good "heart" story...but not a "head" solution that at all addresses what ails this team.

ND's not likely to join the B1G

unless/until the NBC contract ends...way too much money to walk away from, and I don't blame them.  All colleges are chasing the mighty buck...have to in order to stay fiscally strong.  But all that has no bearing on whether we schedule them for football or not.

I'd prefer we bring the yearly rivalry back.  Other than OSU (and maybe MSU as of late), no game on our schedule draws more national attention nor more excitement over a win from the fan base than ND.  That's a good thing.

Even with the 9-game B1G schedule and the home & homes with other big-name schools, there's room in the schedule to add ND every year starting in 2019.  I'd much prefer to see that game (and risk the loss) over a MAC team designed to get us an easy W.

Committee is screwed in the head

Kentucky is a 4-seed and Texas A&M (which Kentucky beat today & tied for the regular season) is a 3-seed.  Someone explain that to me??

I think we're screwed, and this proves Lunardi doesn't know shit. His picks aren't even close. Let's keep this in mind next year when we're relying on his word for anything.
Can't wait to see the combination

Of Brown's coaching prowess and Harbaugh-caliber recruits...this defense should be quite impressive.  September can't get here soon enough.

WIN THE GAME

Beat Purdue and we'll take our chances with the committee

We are cursed

Am I the only one who believes that miracle UConn 3/4 court shot is what will ultimately keep us out of the NCAA's??

After all he's overcome thus far...

does anyone really doubt that Austin Hatch will be a signficant contributor to the MBB program before he graduates??  I don't know if it will be this year, but I'm certain it will happen eventually.  He makes me proud to be a U of M fan...Good Luck, Austin!!

Those 3 high schools are all great

I have a child at Anderson (and one who graduated from McCallum) and loved both schools. Lakeway has good schools but is a long commute to downtown, so keep that traffic thing in mind.

It's a very family-friendly city.

After nearly 20 years in Austin

I still love it here.  I grew up in Chicago and have also lived in Ann Arbor, Houston, and Baton Rouge, and Austin beats them all hands down.  I'm not a biker nor a festival goer, but it's still a great place to live.  The downsides already mentioned (traffic, summer heat, rapidly rising cost of living) are all accurate, but they don't begin to offset the vibe, livability, food, and non-summer weather.

Take the plunge...you'll be glad you did!
