How many people making pizza at any pizzeria give two shits about their job? And exactly how is that relevant to any discussion about DB running successful companies?

Even with a loss, I don't think FSU would drop below MSU. I'm not sure, but I don't think that would happen. That would leave us with a Mizzou vs. FSU BCS game.

There are no current rules or laws that say you cannot acheive to the same level of your boss' status right now.
The current market is dictating what these players are worth - the price of a scholarship, that's it.
Now, the market may change at some point, then there may be laws in place which will limit what these players are worth - Title IX. I believe you will have to match every dollar spent on a male athlete with an equal dollar spent on female athletes.
According to this article http://espn.go.com/college-sports/story/_/id/6769337/title-ix-seen-substantial-roadblock-pay-play-college-athletics from ESPN:
"Title IX guarantees gender equality in athletic opportunities. The courts have now developed, through years of case law, what that entails. It is very well established case law where the courts have said the opportunities have to be equal in all respects. It includes the accommodations and conditions around those opportunities."

I never said he cared about getting money from the lawsuit, only that he held a grudge against the NCAA.

I don't have sympathy for O'Bannon either. He went to a good school that helped him earn the draft status he had in the NBA. In his NBA career, O'Bannon earned almost $4M.
I don't begrudge him his earnings. He earned and deserved that money. If he didn't realize it wasn't going to last (his knees should have been telling him that, if not the never ending parade of small forwards blowing past him on the court), shame on him.
It's no one else's fault that his knees kept him from sticking around in the NBA any longer than he did.
If he hadn't blown through $4M, he may not have a grudge against the NCAA.

I'm in. I've read your posts on MGoBlog for a long time, but this one really struck a chord with me. There's a ton of great ideas in that post.
I just clicked on your link and bookmarked your page too. Nice read!

Yep. Sam makes getting through the endless amount of commercials worth it. I've tried changing the station during commercials, but I sometimes miss the beginning of the recruiting round-up, which was the main reason for listening.
Can't wait for Sam to get back.

Right on. WTKA's advantage in the morning is that they cover Michigan. If they're not talking about Michigan athletics, they're no different than 3-4 other local sports stations. And without Sam, there are better radio personalities than Ira that I can listen to. Glad I wasn't subjected to it.

Why would I disparage gay men like that?
By the way, you must've had a pretty tough 5th grade. That language was definitely not used until middle school in my 'hood.

I get the difference between Scott's and Kessel's fighting abilities. Kessel acted like a tough guy, when he's not. That's the base of the problem I have with it.
I do not agree that the initial slashing was acceptable. The NHL may not suspend him for that specifically, but it's a gutless act.
Kessel knew the deal. If he thought Scott was going to beat him senselessly, but did not want to fight, he could have skated away. He did not have to wait until someone else engaged Scott, then slashed the back of Scott's legs as he skated away.
I think this argument is totally ignorant: "I guess you don't play hockey.". What the fuck does that mean? Yes, I've played hockey. No, I no longer play. It is never okay to slash a player that's wrestling/fighting with someone else.
If Kessel wanted to fight Scott, he should've taken his lumps. If he didn't want to fight, he should've kept his stick on the ice. One action is respectable, the other is gutless.

There's nothing fine about slashing another player (Scott) while he's being engaged by another player. Kessel was slashing him, while skating away. What a gutless pussy.

Right. I've heard this App State comparison a couple of times now. How in the hell could losing to a MAC team be worse than losing to a 1-AA team? I don't get that. That Michigan team was ranked #5 in the country.

I'm not sure if they still wear them, but I haven't seen the Cleveland Indians wearing hats with their mascot on them all year. I'm not sure if they've stopped using those hats completely, or if I just haven't seen it. If they have stopped using them completely, I'm not sure if this is the first year or not.
I think it's interesting in that it shows some sensitivity to the cause. If that's it, I wonder how far they may be from changing their name.

Nice! He may use Fisher as an advisor or a consultant for the search, but I don't think Fisher's leaving the NFL for any college job, not even his alma mater.
He would be scary good, though.

I can't see either program going with a coach with no HC experience. What about Charlie Strong to Texas? That would be pretty awesome.
He's done a hell of a job at Louisville. I can't see him staying there long-term, though.

Here's a big ol' TIFWIW for you:
a business associate of mine grew up with Fitzgerald. He said he never spoke with Fitzgerald personally about it, but word in their circle of friends was that Fitzgerald was offered the job, informed Northwestern of his intentions, and they ponied up more cash and promises on facility upgrades to get him to stay.
