We have a much better run defense this year than last year, and you have a worse run offense. If JT throws for under 100 yards, we're gonna to stomp you.
Indiana ran for 1.8 yards a carry, lol.

You mean that OSU team that lost to PSU (who we beat 49-10)? It's almost as if good teams sometimes have ugly games.

I'm very optomistic about our offense that scored on its first 5 possessions and didn't punt until 9 minutes in the game.
And very optomistic about our defense, which has been insane outside of 2 quarters this entier year.

Man, I just feel sad for you that you can't enjoy a WIN against michigan state.
"The most dissapointed you've been in a UM team since you can remeber" lol. You must be fun at parties.

"I do wonder why McCray is split out over the slot here instead of Peppers."
This seems to happen a lot of the time. I feel like Peppers is blitzing off the edge more often than not, which isn't super successful (compared to him coming on a delayed blitz or a blitz through A or B gap in combo with a D-Lineman). In a couple of the major bust plays, Peppers is a de-facto defensive end, going 1v1 against a tackle which washes him out of the play.
And as Brian mentions, it would seem to make sense to have Peppers covering a slot while Gedeon or Mccray edge rush -- however, often those roles were reversed in this game.
Is this how Matt Milano was used at BC?

Huh? He got plenty of solid pressure against UCF. Hopefully, our OL and rb/te have made adjustments on blitz pickups and keeps speight relatively clean.
If you read either of Ace's posts, I don't think it's safe to assume Colorado is a cupcake tune-up game.

It's a bit of a stretch, but:
"He’s still working with the trainer a little bit. But we expect him by the end of the week to see where he’s at.”
Almost as if he was going to say we expect him to be ready at the end of the week, and then catching himself before saying it definitely. Again, that's a very optomistic reading between the lines.
Do you get any vibe, Adam?
|12 weeks 2 days ago||I agree. It seems at times||
I agree. It seems at times we're misutilizing peppers. on a bunch of plays he's blitzing from a WDE or SDE position (much like we used Jake Ryan when he was a SAM) and he's 1v1 against a tackle. tough matchup for him and it seems like when it happens he often gets washed out of the play. i'm no d-coordinator but i think i'd rather have gedeon rushing off the edge and peppers covering the slot (or at least peppers blizting in combination with a D-Linemn filling the same gap).
Dymonte should have the seam covered with a slot going against mccray or gedeon, but i think we'd be in trouble on drag, corner or quick post routes against decent receivers (something I think we'll see a fair amount against colorado).

Denard was a borderline 3/4 star guy with no other big-time-program offers at QB. Say what you want about Rich Rod, but his track record with dual threat quarterbacks speaks for itself. Pat White and Denard were two of the most explosive, productive run/pass QBs of all time. That's no accident.

Thought you were overly harsh on the Green 3rd and 1 run. It's a somewhat slow developing play where he is just starting to turn the corner and build up steam, as the safety comes in flying at his legs. Not sure Deveon breaks that tackle either to be honest. Think it's a nice play by the safety and a function of Green having not enough momentum as he hits the hole (because of the play design).
|1 year 10 weeks ago||you're an asshole. the||
you're an asshole.
the subtext of your post goes beyond political; it's uglier.
to the substance of your post...i think people are / were frustrated that up until yesterday Rudock's effeciency and propensity to turn the ball over were as bad or worse the Gardner's, and yet he also didn't have Gardner's ability to make a play. He wasn't the solid "game manager" we expected.
We are 3-1 almost entirely because of our defense. Our one loss is largely on Rudock if we're being honest -- and I think we'd have the same record with Shane starting. Rudock may be our best option, but doesn't mean people are being unfair to him IMO. He hasn't been very good (in a football sense).
|1 year 11 weeks ago||It's clear he's VERY||
It's clear he's VERY protective of his quarterback.
More than happy to talk about how Stribling played two games tentatively and how Braden was the 5th best lineman and how Jourdan Lewis could shore up his tackling.
But SHARK EYES when asked how Rudock could improve.
I think the difference is he clearly has positive things to say about the aforementioned players. They are all improving or excelling. He doesn't want to field a question that would yield a negative answer.
|1 year 11 weeks ago||Kind of a separate||
Kind of a separate discussion, but if I had the option for Harbaugh to have Gardner or Rudock as a freshman for four years, I'd take Gardner ten times out of ten.
|1 year 11 weeks ago||Look, I'm all for giving the||
Look, I'm all for giving the QB a shot and not being divisive, but don't distort the facts.
Statistically it's the exact opposite of what you're saying. Rudock has been the least effecient quarterback we've had since Threet/Sheridan....through 3 games.
People seem to have short memories, but through 3 games Denard had Heisman talk each year he played, and Gardner looked insanely good in 2013 (remember the ND game?). Even last year, Gardner's numbers were better than Rudock's for the first 3, where we also had a 2-1 record.
All that said, I think and hope Rudock will improve, as will the offense overall. But just because he's more of a "traditional" pocket passer than DG or Shoelace doesn't mean he's been more competent by any means, thus far.
