No offense to Tate( and best of luck to him in Miami), but how is it DB's job to talk to his family? He's a student-athlete, and his first point of contact should be his position coach, followed by the head coach. Was BH not there to talk to him or his parents?DB is the AD - he cannot get involved with the personal matters of a single student.
I'm surprised BH wasn't contacted, given common San Diego ties.
Sadly, they just want to sell some papers- and a controversial title (combined with bad writing) helps them sell papers than regular journalism.
FTIW i've just stopped reading the DFP - thats my contribution to them : won't click on their links, won't subscribe - they're not getting a penny out of me after what they did.
Someone had earlier commented on him as a 'genetic freak' in a different thread. I can't agree more. Sadly, barring a true miracle, this kid will end up in the SEC [sigh].
UCLA is in westwood, and the Rose Bowl is waaay out in Pasadena. Thats a hike of over an hour. So lot of fans are put off by that.
Furthermore, UCLA is considered to be the snooty, uptight school, while USC is considered to be the common man's school ( yes, i know the irony of private vs public is quite apparent).
I don't think its a bad idea, but I also don't think TomVH has time to do that kinda stuff. he's doing a fantastic job as it is: this sounds like Minutiae
Also: Hoke WANTS this job for 3 square meals a day. He wants this because this is all he's worked for. To be honest, I want that fire! I dont want money to be the only thing- I want passion in the program. RR had it - just couldnt win fast.

SC has good location, fantastic alumni base, and connections higher up. Plus its warm.
Oh, and the fans may be bandwagoners, but these guys know how to tailgate.
IMO (very very biased) The Big House has the best game day atmosphere - but USC has the best tailgates, hands down
