Only two Big 10 teams to both loose to Big 10 new comers Maryland and Rutgers. This board laughed and snided about them getting into the Big 10. Remember this when the team is good again, and stay humble.
Actually, it was Mark Hollis' idea, and MSU reached out to UNC. Original idea was two games in 2006 against service academies, but war prevented that. Hollis knows what he is doing - he came up with the idea of outdoor hockey that everyone is copying. Also, the event is planned to be continued, and MSU will be playing in 2013.
Game is definitley bringing tons of publicity. MSU and NC all over the news, ESPN, and national coverage.
The billboard in 2008 was a response to Mike "the mouth" Hart. The BCS representatives are correct. Just throwing out the head to head, the one actual consistency in the schedules was all three played at Iowa. Two won, one lost. The idea that MSU beat Wiscy who beat OSU does not fly. This does not take into account home field.
Oh ya, the other consistency is they all beat the snot out of UM.
I found it doing a search on recruting - and thus this board.
I find it a fine collection of information on the recruiting landscape in our conference. Just thought it was very amusing "why did Sparty pass us, wha. Dee Hart, wha..."
I have also read many other posts on the board, and respect Magnus' contribution more than most. As a group you do amuse me though. So many people demanding Brandon come out with a decision all because the MSM all are speculating on RR's job security. Do you really want your AD to answer to the same MSM that you love to trash (and rightfully so).
For Magnus:
I won't be popping in to check on your winningest football team on January 1. I wish your team the best running and passing against the SEC. I will be skipping that game for a game you should be adding to your agenda.
but a rematch in back to back weeks. If you only ply divisional opponents in the last two weeks, there is no chance for a rematch in the last two weeks. Thus the need to avoid cross divisional games in the last week, as the other major conferences do.
Most likely a cross over loss would be less significant in the standings. So if M beats OSU for their only loss, OSU would still make the BTCG (and vice versa). That team wins the BTCG, goes to the BCS title game with one loss (ala Oklahoma), and wins the national title. The Game is meaningless.
In the now "old days" you could not lose the last game of the year in the Big Ten amd make it to the naional title.
But the team that becomes the consistent winner will beome the longer term rival of the team that becomes the consistent winner in the other division. Auburn/Alabama is a nice rival, but nationally people are starting to talk about Bama/Florida. Could be really good for M/OSU if they both get to their historical performance at the same time
With 36 seconds to go State misses a first down and immediately calls TO. A flag is tossed for 12 men on the field, which there were, and the refs never give State the TO back that could have been used prior to the last play. Lots of errors by the refs.
Additionally:
"Three years following the game, Dave Parry, the conference's coordinator of football officials, said, "that play, as much as we've put that under a high-powered microscope, was correct. We could not prove that timer wrong."
If early on one team has two 5* players and another has 2 4* players, the first class is obviously better. Now add a 1* to the first class, and the star average is now less than 4 for the entire class. Therefore we have subtraction by addition.
Therefore, the final line is a good measure of what people who do bet often feel the true differential is. I believe someone posted earlier this opened at 13.5 and has already moved. If a casino misses a line badly, there are professionals who will move in on it quickly. Get your money on M now, because I can not imagine it going higher, but can definitely see it going lower.
"You've got to find what you love, and that is as true for work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work, and the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking, and don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it, and like any great relationship it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking. Don't settle"
If you actually "think like this", then I ask you, can someone with the same number of National Championships as John Cooper be considered a great football coach? That's what I thought. Put some thought into what you say before saying it, it will serve you well.
Same division guarantees M / tOSU as the last regular seson game of the year. Guaranteeing a cross division game smells like a "we are more important" thought. Don't go there.
The experiment fails, he is gone, and then what. He can stay at MSU and coach twice as long and earn the $30M without the risk of falling flat on his face. There is no way Izzo's style of coaching works in the NBA. He is not calm on the sideline, and never will be. He is simply a great college coach.
If Izzo stays, it will be clear to all his plaers and future players that he is staying for the duration. He is now in his 50's, it is now or never, and the money most likely won't get more attractive.
As far as the scandal goes, get real, he won his one national championship with a senior laden team in 2000. IIRC, Cleeves was being recruited by M, and his recruitment eventually became a big part of the scandal.

All bowl money is shared equally among big ten teams.

Never once "pretended to be a Michigan fan".

And you start to whine because MSU passed UM. Not a word abour Wisconsin passing. Pitty - so focussed on MSU.
As announcerd
You said they would get rocked by PSU
You could not understand prior to the season why they were getting sighted as a B10 dark horse.
Strike 3?
Have Sparty Envy.
Seems to be a re-occuring theme lately.

I know I'm wasting my breath, but notice there are no quotes in the article above. It was the reporter's interpretation of what was said.
We all know reporters always get it right - right?
Are nothing compared to this! Thanks for the pick me up.
Can I have some of that happy juice your taking?
Do you really think MSU was favored by 20 or more?
Both lose - who cares
MSU lose, Mizzou win - yes
MSU win, Mizzou lose - no
Both win - not likely
is to stop drinking so much on Thursday nights. It's distorting your perception.
Are you seriously worried about what MSU might do in their bowl? Obsessing?
Oh wait. People in glass houses....

is the second criteria? Give OSU their only loss, who beat PSU. Guess what, they still go to the BTCG.

And never do they rush the BBall court like the scene after the UConn win.
which was played a full seven weeks later? I'll take that bet.
Maybe not as sexy as Doc Brown's, but you gotta start somewhere

Let it go.
But probably the best in the country.
New York - Picholine
Islamorada Florida Keys - Marker 88
Guadalajara - Cocina 88
Chicago - Gene and Georgetti
and agree with it. Thanks for the clarification.

While Faldo did shoot very well, Norman blew up.
Any direct feedback from a recruit?

First the UM is now MSU article / recant, and then the Izzo can't go back article.

Every single team listed in these rivalries has won a championship within the last ten years. Take out the Ravens and its more like 5 years.
That will allow them to play a defacto championship against OU each year and guarantee they are potentially in the MNC game each year.
Maybe the post should be changed to be a "rival" or "oposing competitor". Sounds like Kirk is a class act and should be spoken of in such a way.
Whoever makes it out of the conference will be ready to smack anyone in the mouth.
Okay, so maybe it is that school in Pennsylvania.
None are eligible to transfer to M because the classes are High School equivalent.
