|11 hours 48 min ago||I remember that||
comment and sharing it with some Tiger fans. I remind them of it now. Sustaining world class performance becomes tougher as one finds their single- mindedness divided. Tiger of course made it nearly impossible when he destroyed the image he invested so much to build.
|17 hours 21 min ago||Yes, a class act.||
We should try to remember that when speculating/writing off/criticizing any kid who plays for Michigan.
|19 hours 32 min ago||Not wanting elite||
talent is not the same as not wanting one-and-done entitled types. Michigan is in on a lot of elite talent they just aren't closing. I don't know why that is. They don't get in the mix for a lot of others and I know why that is...the kids don't grade out.
|1 day 7 hours ago||Michigan NPR station had a||
story about this earlier this week. It honestly pissed me off. I had very little money while in Ann Arbor and don't feel it cheated me a bit. Yeah, there was a crowd that traded on their background but I wasn't anymore interested in them than they were in me. College is about where you are going not where you came from and I was never at a loss for friends impassioned by the same belief.
|1 day 14 hours ago||In Beilein's first||
years plenty of "experts" complained that he took Stu and Novak over higher ranked (still 3*-ish types). Here's the thing though...Beilein recruits more than talent. He recruits basketball IQ, coachability, passion for the game, etc. You can't bury a bad attitude on a basketball roster, it's cancerous. You can't grasp his offense with a killer crossover and on and on.
He has a system that relies on a number of things. I'm fine with it and if he backs off a kid I figure it's for good reason. The team he has right now will be very competitive as juniors and seniors.
|3 days 7 hours ago||Damn, as a huge Stu fan,||
those are my two favorite moments too. I will never forget that dunk.
|3 days 17 hours ago||I am guessing||
Donnal might transfer.
|4 days 17 hours ago||Here's hoping||
he finds a situation that helps him get a NFL shot. Like his years in Ann Arbor he couldn't have handled this any better.
|5 days 14 hours ago||You've got me all||
wrong. I am happy as hell about any recruit that says yes to Michigan. I am just not always amaized.
|5 days 16 hours ago||That doesn't||
register on my amazing scale...my amaizing scale won't even bother with a weigh in.
|5 days 17 hours ago||While I think||
Spike is better off the bench don't forget he's still getting over the respiratory illness and playing through an injury that will require surgery.
|6 days 6 hours ago||Beilein talked about him in||
the post game press conference. He said that his game is evolving and basically there is good and bad he's going through as he expands his game. He seems pretty optimistic about where he's going to end up. He even talked about him getting to the rim (which wasn't part of his game previously) off balance because of his long stride.
He's struggling but if it begins to click for him he will be a much more dynamic player. His defense has been a plus.
|6 days 8 hours ago||The other day ACE or somebody||
said this team lacked talent. I disagreed then and I double disagree tonight. For one thing Beilein relies on basketball IQ as much as talent. Secondly this team is just young. Imagine Doyle, MAAR and Dawkins as juniors with Walton. I like the potential of this team a lot with Beilein in charge. This is a season that will forge their identity and hunger.
|6 days 18 hours ago||It's unfortunate. I||
remember Mitch talking about coming to Michigan to change the football school perception. The Beilein recruiting critics should remember this when he loses a recruit to a basketball school.
|6 days 18 hours ago||I noticed that.||
|6 days 18 hours ago||JB seems to really||
enjoying the challenge. Maybe being freed of all expectations after Caris' injury accounts for that but I also think he knows the dividends this season will play in terms of shaping identity in seasons to come.
|1 week 5 hours ago||I absolutely||
love the Michigan Man reference. It has tied generations of players together and I couldn't stand the the desire to bury it with a marker that said history.
|1 week 6 hours ago||I miss the days||
when baseball was the national pastime. I didn't see Banks play but he was part of the conversations growing up, part of a history that guys like Harwell bridged for new generations of fans. With the passing of Banks we lose another thread.
|1 week 3 days ago||If this same group||
of freshmen and sophomores were juniors and seniors this would be a good team. It might not be an elite 8 team but it would be a sweet 16 type team.
The surprise to me this year is how poorly Walton has played...which may all be because of injury. Still, I don't remember a Beilein offense looking this out of synch, going such long stretches without getting an open shot off the action he ran. With the exception of Mitch they haven't been an overly athletic team. (I guess I could include Robinson but that wasn't featured.)
The biggest question is does this team have the basketball IQ that Beilein prizes as much as athleticism.
|1 week 5 days ago||Well that's damn||
disappointing. Still lots to accomplish this season in terms of getting the young guys experience. Walton needs to take ownership of this team now. Beilein's system covers up a lot of athletic deficiencies but it still requires a leader.
|1 week 5 days ago||Trey was an||
amazing player. I knew that but watching last night it was even clearer he was the heart and soul of that team. Talent is important, but talent without a mission so strong that failure will eat you alive is what makes the difference. Nobody on the current team seems to have that.
|1 week 6 days ago||The phrase||
didn't begin with Bo.
|1 week 6 days ago||So where do||
you get all of this up close and personal information?
|1 week 6 days ago||Exactly. And we||
should never want it relegated to history.
|1 week 6 days ago||I am so damn||
happy he's part of the staff. I hope he one day roams the sidelines as Michigan's head coach.
|1 week 6 days ago||He has a decent||
foundation. It seems to me he's looking to fill up the class to avoid being short upperclassmen depth down the road.

|2 weeks 12 hours ago||In my maize and||
blue tinfoil hat I think Hoke did exactly what he had to do to set the stage for Harbaugh. JH will inherit a program in much better shape than the one he turned down a few years ago.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||I wouldn't take||
Funchess higher than the third round. It's true he suffered through poor QB play but he didn't show the other intangibles that he'll need to succeed.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||Count me among||
the Beilein lovers. A basketball mind in keeping with Michigan's academic standards along with along with unquestioned ethics. I also love his road to Ann Arbor...toiling away without ever seeking the spotlight.
