|1 day 7 hours ago||So how do the advocates||
of paying players value of the scholarship? Would there be any limit to the money a player could receive?
|2 days 1 hour ago||Crean has had||
a bunch of off court issues with players in recent years, probably reflective of how little time he invests in scouting anything beyond the court. Izzo too has had his issues with transfers and team chemistry. Beilein has his checklist and doesn't seem to waiver. I'm okay with that but still would like to see him work it a little harder.
|2 days 1 hour ago||There is a reason||
Beilein had his run with former player's kids. And kids planning their NBA jump after a year or two don't much care about education.
|3 days 4 hours ago||I agree with this.||
I love to see what I've heard confirmed about him in terms of personality, host and straight shooter. Those are the most important qualities, he can hire the what's missing.
|3 days 6 hours ago||I'd guess playing||
time and maybe graduate programs would play a bigger role for a guy who has one year left. Who knows though.
|3 days 18 hours ago||It hurts the program because he||
|3 days 18 hours ago||Beilein puts a lot of value||
in kids who are interested in more than a platform to audition for the NBA. That is more of buzz kill for top recruits than the timing of offers.

combination of Price and Dickerson over about anyone else out there. Price has developed over the years, including being a critic as needed.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||I watched the||
Jordan interview up at UM Hoops and kept thinking he seemed overwhelmed and/or over his head. Maybe he was just a little too honest about everything that he has to deal with in terms of the move and new responsibilities and gave the wrong impression. Still it can't help that everything around him that should be helping is a mess.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||Better yet maybe||
Hugh should take a less demanding job along with the corresponding pay cut.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||I would be shocked||
if this became a Michigan / Detroit battle, regardless of Alexander's future.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||It's true...||
he spares no one.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||The thing about||
Kobe is he had that winning obsession, the thing Brady, Jordan, Montana and a few others have. Sure all guys work hard but some are just wired differently. He seemed really happy at his press conference last night. He went out on a high but also as a man who took no shortcuts and new it was time.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||I often wonder how||
this would go over if a coach at another school was doing this.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||Mr. Tough Azz||
was happy to have some guys transfer, saying they didn't practice hard. It will be interesting to see how that works with the highly touted class he has coming in next season.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||From almost day one||
I read that he didn't want to stay in Michigan. Then he took off for California almost underlining the point. Friends going to State might have made him pause but I think it's been known for a while he was not coming home.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||How did it help||
him? He got a few more minutes a game but didn't really improve his numbers and managed to get himself suspended for conduct detrimental to the team. I will not forget his lackadaisical last game at Michigan or his parting shots.

Kenny Rogers to get a person to take it to the streets.
|3 weeks 6 hours ago||Are you saying that||
Harbaugh was suggesting academic fraud? My memory is that he said players were steered away from more rigorous, time consuming majors. Since we all can name exceptions I tend to think the staff/advisers were probably pretty good at determining who had the academic chops to tackle tougher majors. I thought it was a dumb ass comment then and still do. Getting into Michigan as a straight student is for the most part all about meritocracy and being steered to certain majors is the equivalent of a firm handshake by people who know a player can't likely cut it.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||They aren't from||
Michigan. Future grim.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||Duplicate||
|3 weeks 2 days ago||So what do you do if||
Detroit talent isn't what it once was or you don't want to get dirtied in Chicago? Simpson pulled the trigger before Winston, so that was that for PG. Jackson hasn't committed yet, has he? I don't care where recruits come from. Chatman and Wilson (contributions to date aside) are from the West Coast, 4* on 247 with decent offers, particularly Chatman. Beilein isn't in love with one-and-done prospects or egos, he cares about academics, he values coachability, etc. He can win like this and if not thrown off by the unexpected early departures and injuries, there wouldn't have been the fall off and handwringing.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||I can be honest||
but I can't be wrong, so the answer is no to your invitation to accept your view.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||It seems like it stalled a bit||
though. I don't think Walton has the command of Morris or Burke and MAAR really hasn't improved as a passer. That might be unfair, but a new voice and set of eyes might really help the program.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||Jordan has been||
flirting with a head coaching opportunity for a while so I guess this isn't shocking. Since coaching tree seems to be one measure of a head coach I guess this is a good reflection on Beilein and the program. It's also a good opportunity to refresh the program.
|3 weeks 3 days ago||A lot of that is by design.||
Michigan uses their bigs to block out and their guards to reap the rewards.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||It's hard to know how injuries||
impacted Walton and Irvin. Walton had to log way too many minutes without Spike and both he and Irvin had to shoulder more of the offense without Caris. I think it's perfectly reasonable to expect both to improve next season. Doyle of course was slowed by a sleep apnea problem which apparently took months to diagnose. So who knows what he might have done if he had been on top of his physical condition.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||I don't see any||
problem with those rules. They are in on these kids, building relationships and watching them play. If a kid doesn't want to see the school or is offended that Michigan wants to see them in action and look at their grades, then so be it. The top ranked kids aren't picking their destinations that early anyway.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||He lost playing||
time because of his poor defense and yet didn't see fit to make any improvement when he was on the court. His mistakes were often just mental errors, stuff they teach to 12 year olds. Tough to blame coaching.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||Out of that list||
it looks like maybe 2 were guys they wanted to stay. Beilein values team chemistry almost to a fault so I don't think there is anything inherently wrong.
