- I have 4-5 RS JRs who have played either zero or near zero meaningful Big 10 snaps in their entire career. Unless that changes this year....
- 1 very obvious OL medical
- Upperclassmen WRs who there is zero buzz around and apparently are being passed by 2014/2015 types
- You mentioned RBs - I guess if Higdon comes on that might push one out. Not sure.
- The normal 2-3 yearly attrition of guys you don't expect (Ferns, Countess types)
- And I'd add 2 non linemen guys who have been moved around a lot in positions but never seem to get even 3rd string snaps. One might get some in the DBs this year.

Impressed with Honduras effort and speed and shape. They deserved a tie if not win. Well coached. Will be curious how they do in the next 2 games.

Beckerman is starting to look slow. At that age where it can get away from you fast (33). Esp when you are chasing 22 yr olds.
Hopefully just a bad game but he has not been his normal rock self.

Yedlin needs to send someone earlier... could have went either way with a pass into space but decided to do a dribble-thon.

Nice set up - they are funneling our entire attack down the middle.

Talk about a goal vs the run of play. We'll take it.
|4 hours 13 min ago||Can I just say if Timmy||
Can I just say if Timmy Chandler is one of our top 4 defenders we simply are at a massive disadvantage. No idea what pictures he has on Jurgen. He is a turnover machine and looks nervous on the ball. Not just this game - but every game I watch him.
With that said the 5 across the back doesnt give Yedlin any space to make his runs and Honduras is able to counterattack well with just 4-5 guys so kudos to their coach. Difficult to attack wide with this defensive posture so we have to come down the middle where we dont have a lot of technical players.
Dempsey has been mostly a ghost this game and the warmup v Guatamela. Maybe he needs to come back deeper in a formation as he gets no service.

If he lands Mike Babcock in 12 months.... ;)
|7 hours 14 min ago||Yep when Wayne Lyons is||
Yep when Wayne Lyons is listed as our best potential draft pick this year... well that's sad. They only had Bolden and Ross as the other 2 potential ones. Again, sad.
Esp since the "epic" 2012 class was supposed to hit paydirt around now.
You need NFL talent to do well - there is a reason MSU and OSU are doing well. Even in our 8-4, 9-3 years we had NFL talent, esp on OL/WR coming out yearly.
Next year should be better with Lewis, and Butt. Henry and Peppers seem NFL bound down the road . Maybe one of these OL guys has a surge under Drevno too (Magnuson, Kalis types) to get a late draft pick status.

Unless Peters was in the top 5, at which point they'd be incredibly predictive...

I am just impressed we landed 14 kids in a month with the impossible weight of Adidas holding us down.

An interesting OP would be what original (not Neb, PSU, Maryland, rutgers) Big 10 member would UM not be the #1 most hated rival in football terms?
I think only Wisconsin (Minn?) we'd not be #1 since they think we are now an out of conf game. Maybe Purdue or Indiana would pick Ohio State. Or each other.
I used to be a 95% OSU/5% MSU even living in MI but I grew up in an era MSU was an afterthought. Now its 50/50. Once Dantonio retires and MSU goes back to being the cute 5-7 win a year program they'll go back to 5%. I dont think out of state Wolverines can fathom the issues us in state folks deal with so their hate for MSU will always register lower.

Notre Dame is supposedly $90M+ for 10 years so in terms of the market the Adidas deal makes sense.
Somehow I dont think Nike is at $10M - that seems absurb in relation to their portfolio.
If its $8M a year I'd consider it a massive coup considering the peer group of Nike schools.

This is actually going to be a pretty big loss if he sits as I assume. Their coach is a no nonsense guy - I just cannot see at least a 1 game suspension.
They lost both their starting corners (rowe, orphey) and Hatfield seemed like the one heir apparent as best as I can tell from afar.
Utah beats you with special teams, and defense so losing Nate Orchard, both CBs, their DC, and then this guy to what seems to be a suspension should at least give UM's offense some openings to make hay. Whittingham is a good defensive coach in his own regard however and they develop well.
Dres Anderson was their main loss on offense but our D and their O will probably neutralize each other pretty well - strength against strength (run oriented offense v run stopping defense). Our O vs their D will be the interesting wildcard.

With a brand like Nike I'd like to see a massive 1 month splurge of say 14 football recruits in 30 days.
Adidas held us back from such things so thankfully we have a brand that kids like so they will actually consider Michigan in the future unlike now.
|1 day 11 hours ago||Thanks Brian.If I only had a||
If I only had a nickel for each time someone asks question #1 on these boards the next 7 months....
I did a similar outline in a message board post a few days ago but I also included upperclassmen WR(s). I didnt include RBs but I guess 1 could come from there too. If guys want to play football there are going to be roadblocks for some here - that's just reality.
Now not all of these guys (outside category 1 who can go play immediately somewhere else) will leave early because maybe some see writing on the wall in terms of football and they just want to finish school rather than sit out a year to go play for Central or Ferris State but some good portion will, I'd assume.
I'd also caution about expecting this to be a yearly thing - until it is proven it is. Could just be guys out there Harbaugh and player disagree on, in terms of their future. That happens in a coaching change so what might be a yearly 3-5 guys leaving is probably going to take a 1 year spike.

Interesting at the total lack of ESPN and Yahoo related websites in the first 100 responses or so.
Other than live sporting events I never watch ESPN but based on how much commentary about them I'd think their website gets tons of hits.

"Took awhile to get plays off"
I have a friend who is a big 49ers fan and told me when JH was hired it would be a complaint. They seemed to get the plays in late quite a bit and it led to quite a few delay of games or at minimum not much time for Smith or Kap to look at the defense.
Hope that changes here and is a roman thing.

France looked like the best team in the tourney along with Germany until these last 3 games when US surged. I think the US caught a bit of a break with Germany rather than France just due to the pace of their midfielders and forwards. It was a shame Germany France was a quarterfinal game.
England was solid but not there with US (last 3 games), Germany, France. I think Germany didnt take that game too serious yesterday. Their most dangerous forward IMO was on the bench for the first 70 minutes.

Johnston just made a great play there to deny the shot. Most people won't notice.

Morgan is coming off an injury. Her finishing is not good right now. She is a player who lives off her pace so is just getting her conditiong back at this point and the finishing has lacked.
You guys are just killing Johnston today - its hilarious. Defenders make a mistake and everyone sees it. The first goal was a great turn and a world class shot on goal. Sometimes your opponent makes a great play. The 2nd was a header that went off the top of her head. It happens. That was not a bad play at all. She has been the best player on the U.S. this tournamant at a position 1 mistake is exploited for the whole world sees. And she is not "playing bad" today - she has made a lot of her normal plays -everyone takes them for granted.
Heath is undervalued - a great worker bee.
