You kind of suck. Give the kid a break, he is doing what makes him happy, just because it's not your idea of a good time doesn't make it bad. Especially since you seem like such a miserable person who is a big fan of being in the band (something plenty of people make fun of) you should probably stop being such a sad person.

You say that like academic jobs are offered based off teaching skills. I had teachers in high school that were better teachers of the material than professors at Michigan. Most people in academia regardless of whether they are at GVSU or Harvard have a good enough knowlege of the material to teach undergrads, it doesn't take a noble prize to teach econ 101. It is the standards they hold their students to that makes the difference.

I'm not saying MSU is a bad school but being top 200 in the world isn't an indicator of it. There are maybe 30 countries in the world that really have invested in higher education and in many of those countries it is really only 1 or 2 schools. The education recieved at a community college in the US is probably equivalent to anything outside of the top schools for a majority of countries in the world.
The reality of it is that there probably isn't a difference between an msu or an arizona state, or a texas tech. They are all going to give you a good enough education to be successful but there is a level of schools that is seen as above that level of good enough and there are opportunities associated with being in that level that someone from msu would most likely not have and that is why people pick michigan over msu, or come out of state to michigan. In reality its a pretty stupid difference but it makes all the difference in the world in terms of actual opportunity even if it shouldn't.

Yeah I'd like to see if that was a ref fuckup as the Michigan sideline was losing its mind. You'd still like to see someone on the sideline or Gardner check that clock as they had a timeout to burn at that point but it may not be as bad as it looked live.

I feel like press coverage just isn't a strenght of countess, he likes to be able to drop back, read and react which is great in zone but he just doesn't have the physicality to bump and run and is unsure of himself. He will probably get better as the year goes on and outside of Maryland it's not like there are a ton of scary wr's so I think he can get it turned around. Notre Dame realized he was struggling and kept going to the well and mattison never really adjusted by trying to go back to more zone.
I really thank that game goes back to the offense not finishing either of those first two drives. I still don't know how we didn't score, watching that game it should have been 14-6 at the half the way the teams played and that game is completely different if that happens.

One thing I don't see mentioned that I think might be the problem is that mattison was about to get run out of baltimore because his defense was too passive and ran a bend but don't break style. That passivity let someone make a mistake in front of you has been how I have always seen mattison as a dc (as a ravens and michigan fan). I'm not sure he is suited to calling a defense with tight bump and run coverage. He wants to confuse an offense and make sure everything happens in front of the defense. It felt to me like the db's backed off after the jourdan lewis pass interference plays but I don't have any desire to re watch that game to find out if that is accurate.

It doesn't scream university of maryland immediatley but it is being used for a game being played on the bicentennial of the writing of the star spangled banner which happened during the battle of baltimore. Baltimore, as you may know is in Maryland. It's an interesting thing to do for one game and it makes sense for this game, I think it looks pretty cool. It's not like Maryland has some historical look that if you saw them on the field you would recognize them with no name anyways, they would probably just be another team in a red jersey.

Michigan has actually gottens significantly more selective in the past few years as a result of the jump in application numbers from joining the common app. UCLA is a pretty great school and tons of people want to go there.

This one also makes sense as this weekend is the star-spangled banner anniversay celebration and it is going on in Baltimore, they aren't just completely random.

He needs a great defensive coordinator to be successful, he doesn't care and doesn't focus on d at all. It gets reflected in recruiting and how players respond to him, he would probably be a great oc at a power school.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||If we kept waiting for rich||
If we kept waiting for rich rod to get his guys we wouldn't have had an oline or a defense but sure, the last two years of offensive futility due to the line being crap are 100% on Hoke and rich rod would have fixed that.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||You're right in that boring||
You're right in that boring is probably the wrong word but it is what brian uses so I figured I would match terminology.
I do however disagree that Kovacs was a playmaker. He was a sure tackler and could definetely lay the wood to an extent (sack against western comes to mind) but he wasn't really a game changing player in a playmaking sense. He made sure we never gave up huge plays which is awesome and exactly what you want your safety to do and makes a huge difference in how a defense can play, Kovacs was and is awesome. But if you needed a game channging play, an interception or a huge hit for a forced fumble, or tracking a wr or rb down from across the field with speed when a play got busted away from you that wasn't Kovacs, he wasn't going to swing a game with one play. Most defensive players don't, it takes a great one to be able to do it because you need the brains of Kovacs and amazing athleticisim but guys like peterson could. Kovacs is a tier 2 safety, drummond or patterson is a tier 1. Same thing with Morgan, he just doesn't have the physical attributes to be truly elite but that doesn't mean he isn't great and better than 98% of other linebackers. (Though I do think Brian over rates him a bit, Morgan is a bit of liability in the passing game, he just happens to better at it than other michigan lb'ers)
|2 weeks 4 days ago||It's not ruining our best||
It's not ruining our best defensive player for no good reason, it is to make the whole defense better. Ryan is a great player but in the alignment the entire defense other than ryan seems to be in a better spot, that is a net positive even if its sad that it hurts ryans abiltiy as a playmaker.
You can also be a disruptor from the mlb spot. Morgan is exactly like kovacs, he is great to have and every defense needs him but his athleticism prevents him from being a playmaker from the position. This is not a bad thing or a knock on Morgans play. But just like a ballhawking safety can change a game so can a middle linebacker, there is risk involved but when you get that specail player who knows when to take risks and when to play sound that is the best option, maybe with more experience ryan can be that guy. As much as we all love Kovacs we would rather have had patrick peterson, the same thing can be said of morgan versus elite mlb's and maybe that is the hope for ryan.
|2 weeks 4 days ago||Well the difference is that||
Well the difference is that someone else was playing the position that morgan plays. His position wasn't axed by alignment on the first play, someone else was just in instead of him, so that would make that guy a starter. Its a technicality but his bet wasn't that morgan would get more snaps, it was who would be the starter, he should just eat the lemon and move on.

|3 weeks 4 days ago||The ACT is a much easier test||
The ACT is a much easier test for most people as it focuses more on what you may have learned while in school while the SAT tries to measure your critical thinking skills but both pretty much fail in terms of actually predicting student performance at school. Having taken both though the ACT is a joke, the science section is pretty much how quickly can you read a graph and the english section doesn't really test anything other than basic grammar.

It probably matters signifigantly more since one of the perks of going to michigan is the reputation and success of the alumni.

I'll take things that other fanbases said about Mitch mcgary for 100 please. Just replace employer stuff with he accepted a scholarship knowing these rules and say no sympathy. It was dumb when it happened to mcgary and it's still dumb when it happens to other players. The players are also dumb for doing it. It's a viscous circle of stupidity.

Yeah Glasgow is going to turn a new leaf but king isn't going to learn. The responses to this compared to Glasgow are pretty sad to read.
|4 weeks 4 days ago||Yeah I mean here at Michigan||
Yeah I mean here at Michigan if you get a DUI you get one whole game. Sure you can keep practicing and win a starting spot but hey now you have to miss what should be the easiest game of the year. We don't get to laugh at this because our "punishment" of Glasgow is pathetic too.

|5 weeks 2 days ago||Are you also upset when the||
Are you also upset when the department gives money back to school? The field hockey team is part of Michigan whether you like the sport or not and should be supported. Your comment also assumes that prices wouldn't go up if it were not for these projects but that is clearly not the case as prices rise for football all over the country because people continue to pay.
In terms of the sport dissapearing the field hockey team probably splits 10 scholarships, "paying" athletes will lead to an extra 50k max increase for the program at an extra 5k per scholarship, I don't think that's enough to kill it. Split scholarships make direct comparisons to revenue hard.
If you want to argue that probably too much money is spent on athletes l probably wouldn't argue but that's not the argument you are making. Michigan supports Michigan, if you have a problem with that than you don't support Michigan, you just liked football and picked a team.
|5 weeks 4 days ago||I get that but failing to hit||
I get that but failing to hit someone while driving drunk doesn't mean it isn't dangerous . I get that this is how the justice system works, if you shoot at someone and miss you get a different punishment than if you hit them. My issue isn't with york being suspended for a year, its with glasgow not being suspended for more than 1 game and the fact that everyone is saying he should have a second chance but York shouldn't. They both made a mistake but one man will have a chance to come back from it and another will not and its not like the mistake glasgow made is less severe, it is more dangerous both to him and society than York. If you had to ask me which person I would want living on my block it would be York.
Really what I'm getting at is I think glasgow deserved a harsher punishment and if you think he deserves a second chance at Michigan than I think York should get one too.
|5 weeks 5 days ago||Not that I condone what York||
Not that I condone what York did or calling out your comment in particular but I'm confused why people are so anti York getting a second chance and ok with Glasgow playing this year. Driving drunk is a crazy serious thing and more people are killed by drunk drivers than punching. I personally think Glasgow and York should both be done for the year and see how they reform themselves. Just confused by the different responses.

Yeah slingbox is great, you can use it like a dvr from your home tv. My brother and I use it for ravens games since we are in new york. Had a family wedding a couple years back and all watched after the wedding after missing the game, it works great.
