I understand that compared to small elite private schools the per student endowment for Michigan suffers in comparison but I think this paints a little too rosey of a picture for michigan. We have a reputation for not giving out aide, while it is unfair to compare our aide to schools like harvard or princeton or norhtwesterrn it would be fair to compare us to other peer public universities and even in that comparison michigan is seen as lacking when it comes to student aide, it just isn't, or wasn't at least a priority of the university. |
| 5 days 8 hours ago | If it means paying less for |
If it means paying less for football tickets then yes I would, one is an aesthetic thing, the other actually could impact my ability to get into the stadium on a regular basis. I'm sorry I care more about being in the stadium to see football than whether or not the entire screeen is free of ads. |
| 5 days 20 hours ago | Jesus Christ people, you all |
Jesus Christ people, you all want top facilites, top payed assistant coaches, more varsity sports added and facilities upgrades for non-revenue sports and you would throw a hissy fit if Brandon ever turned to the biggest untapped resource, ads in the stadium. How do you expect the athletic department to raise more funds for these projects without raising ticket prices? It is like half this blog is living in some fantasy land. I for one would prefer to see ads in the stadium over raised ticket prices but if that can't happen they need to continue to raise revenues to keep up, ohio already spends more on their football program than we do and if you don't think spending money increases recruiting and performance than you haven't been paying attention to football or basketball recently. |

Who says the norheast is dead? DC philly new york and boston are all areas increasing population and doing relatively well economically. The rust belt on the other hand? yeah, no arguments from me on that one |
| 1 week 4 days ago | So when someone random knocks |
So when someone random knocks on your door asking for money or trying to convert you to some religion you waste both your time and theirs by sitting there and listening to them for 10 minutes before saying no? Recruits get thousands of hours worth of phone calls, and even more mail that they have to deal with on a daily basis, that is why so many kids commit early because they want to be done with it, and urban is showing up refusing to be done with it. It's kind of like an ex girlfriend showing up after you say you don't want to see her, you have no obligation to do anything. |
| 2 weeks 1 day ago | Clearly you haven't bothered |
Clearly you haven't bothered to read the books, or really pay attention to the show, killing characters isn't for shock value its to drive the story foreward, its not like this is the final season. If ned doesn't die robb never takes his armies south and you don't have any conflict or seasons 2 and 3. Now the north is leaderless and as they say, winter is coming, that could mean some major ramifications for the entire world depending on what is going on with the whitewalkers. |
| 2 weeks 1 day ago | This is going to sound bitter |
This is going to sound bitter but mindset like yours is, in my opinion, why there is so much crap and entertainment and it is all so alike. Yeah its nice to have stories where the good guys win despite everything realistic pointing against it, but sometimes it doesn't just all end up ok too and because of reactions like this those storylines are not successful and don't get made. You have to remember this season is only half a book, there is much more time for things to be balanced out and there are still plenty of interesting characters left. You don't care what happens Arya? What plays out north of the wall? Who winds up on the throne? Let alone the fact that tyrion is an awesome character and you still have dany and the dragons. What about the three leeches? one has already come through and there are still two names left. Three main characters have died in three seasons now, Ned, Catelyn, and Robb, its not even that many when you think about it. In short stop wanting everything to work out happily so that can feel better at the expense of a better story. |

at what point do you take driesenga out and plan for the losers bracket? I assume we have a third pitcher on the roster. |

I mean he is considered by most in the academic world to be a top 5 university president, (I don't know how people rank these things but when they do he is there). Yeah sure some of his comments were dumb but apparently he is doing something right and I personally don't have any problems with anything he said. |

Not to mention donating back to the actual school is a nice way to spend that money too, you can make a big difference. |
| 3 weeks 1 day ago | Is there proof that student |
Is there proof that student attendance is dropping? I mean yeah it wasn't great this year (and i do think out of state vs in state has hurt some) but student sections have also expanded, is it possible the same number of students are showing up and it just looks worse? This is just a question i'm not sure. Also yeah tv can't have helped. |

And I'm sorry but throwing kids lives away over something that hurt nobody happens every day in our justice system, this isn't a new precedent. |
| 3 weeks 3 days ago | Why should we give them the |
Why should we give them the benefit of the doubt because they are michigan men? would this be your response if you read the exact same story about another teams players? This type of mentality is dumb as shit, if someone fucks up they fucked up, doesn't matter where they went to school. |
| 3 weeks 3 days ago | You've done worse and seen |
You've done worse and seen other students do worse? I'm sorry but we must have traveled in different circles. Lighting a car on fire is less of a danger to society than this shti, there is a reason it is a 4 year felony charge. |

They will 100% get HYTA and plead down but I think you are underselling what they did. Kids make mistakes is something you can say for smoking weed, getting drunk, shit even stealing the laptop of a person you have a problem with. Making a molotov cocktail is seriously dangersous, you aren't just making that because you can't find where to buy a firework and you are putting a lot of people in danger if you set it off anywhere near other people. |

5 consecutive champs at club, its like lacrosse was, they dominate their league but wouldn't be great at the top level. |

Just wondering, what our are chances of making the ncaa tourny. what would we need to do in the big ten tourny? |
| 4 weeks 5 days ago | I mean this home schedule |
I mean this home schedule sucks but it's not really that much worse than this year, we had michigan state at home, which yeah rivalry game and then what? Iowa? yeah there is more history but in my honest opinion maryland will be a better team than Iowa at that point. Utah is better than air force. I honestly don't think that 2014 is that much worse than this years was and at least there are 7 games. The fact of the matter is that about 3/4's of the big ten provide no excitement so any year without osu is going to have to bring in an out of conference game to spice it up which is what will be happening starting with arkansas and va tech. |
| 6 weeks 5 hours ago | That wouldn't work, ESPN |
That wouldn't work, ESPN could not afford the contracts they have with only charging $5 because probably only a quarter of current cable subscribers would pay for it, especially considering the NFL is on network telivision |
| 6 weeks 5 hours ago | The idea that you as a |
The idea that you as a customer would be saving money in a pay per channel market is a fallacy. If, for example you wanted ESPN as one of your channels, well without having every cable subscriber automatically paying in, in order to cover the contracts they have been handing out and to maintain programming, ESPN would most likely charge you like $50 just for that single channel. Smaller side chanels like fx and tbs would either cease to exist, or would probably be bundled up with their parent chanels, like they are now, so you can either pay $20 for just CBS or $30 for a bundle. At the end of the day, a pay per channel model isn't as appealing as everyone here makes it out to be and chances are anyone who wanted to watch sports would be paying at least as much as they are now for only half the channels. |

I like where a lot of recruiting battles are going but I am confused about people can continually read quotes from Hand about how VT feels like home and bud foster is his favorite coach and think michigan is the leader. Am I missing something? Liking a professor is not better than saying a place feels like home to me. |
| 7 weeks 3 days ago | The students have been |
The students have been pathetic for non prime games, and I am a current student. However given this fuck the Athletic Department for raising ticket prices to what they are. I understand comparatively to the rest of the stadium its a steal and blah blah its absurd that if a student wants to attend both football and either one of basketball or hockey they would have to pay over $500. I don't know about the rest of you but I had to pay for everything that wasn't tuition, that means rent, food, textbooks, and other such things. The AD is pricing out any student that isn't just funded by their parents, and my guess is that most of the people who didn't show up were the students who didn't have to pay for the tickets themselves and that won't change with a ticket increase. If the university cares more about money than students, just eliminate the student section, other than that this price increase does nothing but price out a portion of the student body. |

| 8 weeks 5 days ago | Great fundraiser, a little |
Great fundraiser, a little iffy on being open to student issues, lots of student orgs don't like her but I would say a net positive for the university during her tenure. She takes a lot of flack about putting fundraising and buidling imporvements over student well being. But that just some students opinions, nbobody thinks she was overall terrible for the school. |

Look to the story of the hiker who was taken in Iran and accused of being a spy. He was only in solitary for a few months and he wrote about how he welcomed seeing the people who tortured him and missed it when it stopped. Humans are not meant to be alone, there is almost no fate that has a worse impact on a person |
| 8 weeks 6 days ago | Best of luck to him, don't |
Best of luck to him, don't necessarily think it is a great idea as 2nd round contracts are not gauranteed and I see hardaway as more likely in the D league than in the NBA, but hey if someone offered me millions to do my dream job i would probably leave before finishing too. Hope I'm wrong and timmy makes it big in the league. Now we need a gr3 and mcgary to stay and some big growth from gr3 if we want to make a run next year, but that discussion is for another day. |
