You really believe that over a four year period the average minor league player makes less than 200k? The value of a player in a minor league system isn't how many people would go to see them (though I think minor league baseball has more fans than college baseball anyways) it's on their potential future value to the teams that own the minor league team.

Yeah the drive from ann arbot to atlanta for the final four last year probably took us past about 300 waffle houses, and don't get me wrong it was good, it was just funny to read.

2 things, if you don't think this happens in the big ten, albeit maybe on a smaller level you are pretty naive, but two my favorite line was that they sometimes meet at a waffle house. I mean really? A waffle house?

You do realize that in any given year there are probably a thousand more soccer games being played by thousands of more people than football right? Obviously diving is less prevalent in football if you judge by just going down after being touched but defenders over sell holds all the time, receivers over sell pass interference and the level of bitching for calls is just as high, players will always do what they can to gain an advantage, that is part of sports, it just looks different in the nfl because on most plays going to the ground isn't advantageous for your team like it is in socccer.

They could make the game witch completely randomly generated players, if the michigan qb last year was a 5'10 white guy with a weak arm and no speed then the o'bannon case wouldn't apply.

Yeah I think the big flaw in this thought process is the idea that dakari would have touched the ball, Kentucky wasn't going to johnson in that situation the only people touching the ball were the harrison twins or randle, all good enough ft shooters that you prefer to just play defense.

It's not a well kept secret, he's pretty much planned on it happening the entire time, he just didn't want to deal with training intensley or competing on the international circuit for the last two years.

He's coming back, he already put his name in and entered the international testing program for doping.

It would take about half a season of that before the stadium would be empty but sure it would be effective.

Right but a scholarship is also supposed to cover cost of living and that hasn't been raised as the cost of living is going up, not to mention the articifial cap put on the montly stiped despite colleges being located in places where the cost of living may be drastically different. A player at georgetown is going to have a higher cost of living than one at texas tech.

Maybe if they can't run a huge athletic department responsibly they shouldn't have a huge athletic department,

I wasn't saying it would lead to them getting paid less, I was saying it wouldn't lead to them getting paid more. Kickers used to matter more in games but now the kickoff has been taken away, if it goes far enough away xp will be too. It's not that xp's are meaningful but I don't think its unreasonable for kickers to think people are trying to phase out their importance on the game.

Right now athletes can't even get the ncaa to cover the cost of living increases in scholarships because indina state thinks that is what would put them at a competitive disadvantage. Being able to unionize doesn't mean getting paid and just like nobody is forcing any kids to play football nobody is forcing the school to charge money for tickets, sell the tv rights, etc. As long as schools see sports like football as sources of revenue the athletes should have the ability to make sure they aren't getting screwed and if that means enough money to go to the movies a couple times a month that seems fair to me. If it leads to players getting paid we will see what happens, there would be title 9 issues most likely but we can cross that bridge when it comes, that isn't this.
|3 weeks 2 hours ago||I think they were complaining||
I think they were complaining that they were essentially being penalized for doing too good of a job. Passing yards are going up around the league but the rules are not being changed to make completing a pass more difficult.
Also the argument for being phased out is simple, if they move the kick far enough back that most if not all teams start going for 2 then that is one less thing a kicker is doing, that probably won't lead to an increase in salaries. That plus moving the kickoff up makes kickers with big legs who could gaurantee touchbacks before the new rules less valuable as well.

Whoever the nose tackle/oompa loompa guy on ull is my one of my favorite players maybe ever.

A couple things . I hate the flagrant foul call in the new mexico-stanford game, guy is practicaclly hugging the stanford player, it would have been impossible for him to get the ball up to pass it without hitting the guy.
Tennessee looks good, I hope mercere beats them too.
And lastly lousiana lafayatte has the fattest player I have ever seen on a basketball court and while I'm mentioning size umass has a midget pointgaurd, at least it looks that way with him compared to everyone.

Not going to lie, this game is mostly just making me depressed about Michigans defense. But hey its still fun to watch osu struggle.

What kind of horrible group lets you enter 10 brackets? How do you even know who to root for the first weekend?
|4 weeks 2 hours ago||I think I may be the only||
I think I may be the only person in the world with new mexico losing to stanford. I watched the mountain west conference title game and left it thinking both new mexico and sdsu would exit the tourney early, not impressed with either one.

Just as a heads up Marylands top faceoff guy was out injured, Michigan was going up agains the second and third string guys, he didn't do poorly but it wasn't as good as it may seem either.
|4 weeks 1 day ago||What scares me is a team like||
What scares me is a team like mizzou from a couple years back that had the number one offense was seeded 2 and lost in the first round. That is just the type of team that we are, wofford is better than charlotte and texas/asu is at least as good as the middle of the big ten and we lost to indiana and beat purdue by 1 with off shooting nights. The biggest problem I see for us is not having a trey burke or jabari parker, a guy who when the threes are not falling can still take over a game and score 20. Stauskas is great but won't break 20 if his jumpshot isn't falling.
Also people comparing us to last year, it doesn't make sense, there will be no mitch mcgary this year, last years team loses to kansas without mcgary last year so looking at how the teams entered the tourney is going to give you a false sense of hope.

I don't think cincinatti is really all that great or will beat them but god would it be great if they scored like 45 points and went out in the first weekend.
|4 weeks 2 days ago||They don't really bother||
They don't really bother playing defense in aau it's not really the same thing and people get tired by the end of games, of course it can have a cumulative effect.
|4 weeks 2 days ago||I'd rather have MSU's run to||
I'd rather have MSU's run to the final four than ours. Not a huge difference between virginia and duke as a sweet 16 matchup but I would rather play virginia, nova is worse than l'ville and wichita state, iowa state is good but they wouldn't play them until the elite 8. I that we got the hardest region, seeds in the top four don't really matter, it's all about matchups and I think we got fucked.
|4 weeks 2 days ago||MSU's legs were definetely||
MSU's legs were definetely tired, thats whay a team that shoots 40% from 3 on the year went 1-15 to start. Like I said jump shots are the first thing to go.
|4 weeks 2 days ago||Arizona state played a much||
Arizona state played a much easier schedule than texas has less impressive wins (they beat arizone in ot which is nice but that is pretty much it) and they have lost their last 3 including a bad loss to oregon state, they certainly look like a worse team and i would say texas is closer to 70/30 than 50/50 to win.
|4 weeks 2 days ago||It's not 3 days rest, they||
It's not 3 days rest, they get home at some point tonight and will leave probably early wednesday, that gives them 2 days at home and if we do win that will be 5 games in 8 days, I don't care who you are that's a lot and is going to take something out of you and when you have tired legs the jumpshot is the first thing to go.
|4 weeks 2 days ago||Don't you mean wofford? We||
Don't you mean wofford? We play on thursday, clearly had tired legs today and if we shoot 25% again we will lose to anyone with the matador defense we play. Of course we should win but I don't think you can look at how the team played today and be worried more than one game out.
In terms of Texas when they play well they can beat anyone, they have beaten kansas, iowa state, unc and baylor this year, mostly at home but still, not great for us.
