And if 10,000 people show up ton protest and call them racist assholes that is fine too. You are welcome to hold whatever beliefs you choose, but you can't complain if others disagree leading to social consequences for those views. Nobody is getting kicked out of school for their beliefs.

We warn people who have epiliepsy before watching a video that could trigger a seizure, as we understand more about how trauma impacts the brain I don't think it is that difficult to understand why a similar warning could be helpful. Trauma related reactions, such as PTSD can have incredibibly debliating impacts on a person. You can maintain intlecctual integrity while recognizing that.

Just out of curioristy which conservative viewpoints did you not feel were treated with respect? Understanding that people disagreeeing with you and challenging those beliefs is not a sign of a closed culture and is in fact exactly what the letter from Chicago preaches. When I was at Michigan from 2009-2013 the president of the college republicans and college dems were friends for a couple of years, I have more than a few friends who held conservative viewpoints on many issues, primarily fiscal granted but in my internship class a woman was working for an anti aboriton class giving updates every two weeks without being shouted down.
I get having a belief that many people disagree with can be difficult and it is certainly much much more liberal there than anything else but not being willing to stand up for your beliefs in the face of opposition from the majority isn't the same thing as not being a place open for discussion.
|8 hours 46 min ago||Part of the issue, and the||
Part of the issue, and the reason that things like micro aggressions and tirgger warning became a thing is because part of nuanced debate with people who don't agree with you includes groups that are often marginalized in many ways. Like how black students stand in as representatives in an entire race. Or if a sexual assualt survivor is suprised by a video depicting a rape is shown in class and the resulting trauma causes them to not engage in a discussion where if they had been given the opportunity to prepare mentally and emotionally they could have provided a really important voice in an open discussion. Being put in those positions will often stifle a persons willingness to engage in a discussion and important voices can be lost. So the part of the idea of micro aggresions is understanding the situation to ensure that all voices are actually heard in a fair manner.
That isn't to say some people haven't used them as a tool to slience different viewpoints but to pretend like they have zero truth and recognizing some value is to ignore reality. Like all things the truth lies in the middle and a nuanced understanding of how micro aggressions and trigger warnings can be incorporated into a learning enviroment that doesn't stifle any particular viewpoint is a better system than one that pretends like they don't exist.
|10 hours 43 min ago||While I agree that their||
While I agree that their should be space for all of the things described the issue I take is conflating things like micro-aggresions with valid debate on issues. It shows a complete lack of understanding with what the term actually means. The idea of micro-aggressions is about understanding the impacts of language and actions at all times and the cumulative impact of these things. It is the way in which an enviroment can do nothing outwardly outlandishly racist but still seem a hostile enviroment to a particular person because of a cumulative series of things. That isn't saying you can't debate things, it is educating people on being conscious of the impact of language at all times.
The issue is that people have run with these very legitimate things and used them to try to silence dissenting opinion. That is destructive and terrible, but to ignore the entire concept of something like a micro-aggression is to ignore examples of the way racism persists in society. So I guess I'm cautioning don't throw out the idea of micro-aggressions because they have been misused by people who do not understand them.

As long as it means back to back home games for michigan msu isn't going to do it, we all know its true so unless we can get the other ADs to force msu to do it, which it doesn't seem Warde thinks will happen based off how hard he hedges in these comments, it isn't going to happen.
|13 hours 44 min ago||Lol he couldn't have hedged||
Lol he couldn't have hedged any harder on flipping msu back. Not going to happen.

Better atmospheres in the stadium are more fun and it would be nice if just occasionally anyone ever said that michigan stadium was a difficult place to play in rather than suprisingly quiet.
|14 hours 40 min ago||Its not a three hour standing||
Its not a three hour standing sesssion. Football is a slow ass game that that takes over three hours to get through 60 minutes of game clock. There is plenty of time in that window to sit. People stood for a pretty long time during the notre dame night game at the end because it was exciting enough for them to do it.
I sat in the general crowd for the first time last year and obviously sat with my section because I'm not a huge asshole but plenty of other fanbases have much louder and more engaged fans in the stadium and I don't think the Michigan fan base is older than others.
|14 hours 45 min ago||Luckily for them a football||
Luckily for them a football game is only actually 60 minutes, so if you sit during commercial breaks, between quarters, at timeouts, during halftime etc you'd only be standing for a little over an hour out of three and never for longer than 10 minutes straight.
|14 hours 53 min ago||Football has enough down time||
Football has enough down time to sit plenty during a game and getting up and down is a good healthy workout> Even if you stand for every second of football action and sit in between you'd be standing for 1 hour out of 3 and a half. If you can't stand for 15 minute intervals over a 3 and a half hour period you might want to consider gettng one of the weelchair seats for the game.

Scary thin and young doesn't mean bad but it leaves a lot of potential for just one bad break to cause issues.
|1 day 8 hours ago||That is going to be some||
That is going to be some scary thin spots with a lot of youth, especially knowing peppers won't be back (sorry).
We better do well this year.

Hope he gets it turned around. Mostly just hoping him plus Hawkins washing out so quickly doesn't hurt NJ recruiting.
Don't like having bad stuff around the program before such a promisisng season though, hope the news starts turning around soon and we hear the team is having a great time, guys are stepping up, etc.

Why is everyone so sure he will fix the exteremely turnover prone O'Korn then?

Oline makes the whole team better, being able to block bosa last year would have been the biggest difference maker for the offense.
I loved Denard but he doesn't offer that much of an upgrade as a playmaker over peppers.
Really the sad thing is we had 7 years and two coaches without a qb good enough at throwing the ball to be the unamious choice to fill the glaring hole at qb.
|2 days 4 hours ago||Denard wasn't a good enough||
Denard wasn't a good enough of a qb to make the throws necessary to beat an elite defense. If your goal is a championship adding lewan or Jake Ryan or something is increasing your chance to win the championship more

Its hard to keep track of 150 kids, and when you are trying to do that sometimes one of the 50 who really matter have a mistake happen. Of course it not the only reason for a decommitment but a letter being sent about an event you didn't attend that spells your name wrong is pretty insulting.
If you offer and focus in on a smaller group stuff like that is likely to happen, I think casting a really wide net can be great for a lot of reasons, it can get you the Benhamin St. Juste's of the world but it comes with some consequences and I think we might be seeing some of that, just like we did last year with offers not really being offers not being communicated clearly enough.

I just wonder what leverage Warde has, he needs to come big dick swinging and make Hollis and msu eat it because there is a zero percent chance they willingly give UM to home games back to back even if it makes sense for them to balance out their schedule too.

Based off what happened with the Aubrey Soloman stuff it feels like the staff may be over reaching their capacity with the offer canoon. Creates mistakes that shouldn't be happening with top recruits.

Just like Michigan "offers" kids. Nobody is keeping their word in this so as long as everyone is truthful its all semantics. Committed means heavy leader and taking kid means until the school can find someone better.
He is probably going to end up at OSU.

It hard to pick betweem the two, Bolt is more dominant but less accomplished, partly because you can compete in slighlty more in swimming but also because of choice. Alyson Felix competes in the 100,200, and 400 for example which also means she competes in two relays, the same number phelps does.
I give the slight edge to Phelps for doing what no person has ever done before in a singly olympics.
|4 days 1 hour ago||This is such a terrible||
This is such a terrible argument to make at elite levels. Are the accomplishments of Messi and Ronaldo greater than the accomplishments of Brady because more people play soccer in the world. What about cricket? More people play cricket than football growing up.
Sprinting at the Olympics has been dominated by the United states until recently when it has been dominated by bolt. China, japan, most of Europe and Australia put out more elite swimmers than sprinters. Middle distant and long distance and field might be a different story but when it comes to sprinting it isn't that spread out in terms of elite talent.
|4 days 1 hour ago||Bolt could have won medals in||
Bolt could have won medals in the 400 and 800, he just never tried. If he ran the 400 he also could have run the 4x400 and had another chance at gold. There is also long jump which sprinters have done in the past and 110 m hurdles all available for bolt to have tried. Him not pushing himself beyond one skill isn't a reason to knock phelps. Track has plenty of opportunities to win medals, hell bolt used to run the 400 as a teenager.
|4 days 2 hours ago||Yeah its not like hurdles||
Yeah its not like hurdles don't exist, or other great sprinters in the past have competed like things in the long jump before. Bolt by rule was only allowed to sprint.
|4 days 2 hours ago||Phelps pushed himself to||
Phelps pushed himself to compete in strokes he wasn't the best at, that's how he got to 8 golds. Bolt never tried to push himself past sprinting and that is why dominant, he never did something that hadn't been done in a single Olympics before.
They both have longevity, Phelps has won two event 4 times in a row that had never been done and bolt won three times in a row. But Phelps had the single greatest Olympics of all time whIle multiple runners have won the 100 and 200 in the Same Olympics.
