Duke literally created a major that could be completed in three years to pump up their basketball graduation rates. Just because a school is good normally doesn't mean they don't treat athletes differently.

Positional defender is like being gritty, its code for not actually being good at something but being sort of smart when you play. It doesn't matter that he is good at knowing where to be on the court when the guy can drop step and get an easy layup over you no matter how good your positioning is. Just look at Morgan versus Kentucky last year, guy knew how to play despite being small (and he was bigger) and it just didn't matter because they were too good. If you want to know what having Max at the five would look like just go re watch the big ten title game from last year and just imagine that for an entire season. Know amount of positioning overcomes being a 6'7 center.

Yeah but it sounds better and more definitive to say not spoken to a soul who believes over saying my sources have no reason to indicate that this could occur which is also that they could possibly do and all he cares about as a journalist is how it sounds.
You are saying that his sources could theoritically be non-commital based off that quote but I think his sources probably said no and that is just his way making it sound nicer.

Beifeldt isn't an option because he can't defend the 5, nothing to do with rebounding. There isn't a on a good team (which is all we care about) that won't be able to post up biefeldt and get relatively easy looks. Putting Biefeldt out there is asking to have to come off shooter and get bombed from three or give up easy layups.
If you want a thick 6'7 guy that can hit the three playing center than you may as well put Irvin there and run a 5 guard lineup. He's as big as beifeldt and more athletic anyways.

The guy might be full of shit but this comment is stupid. He is writing an article specifically about the Michigan football coaching search and thus theoritically asked his sources specifically about Harbaugh. Apparently every one of his sources believes that there is no chance its happening. His sources could be wrong or just misinformed but its not like he is saying, I've just sat here in my room and nobody has called me to tell me its happening so it must not be happening. Being intentionally obtuse about stuff like this is how we are going to delude ourselves into thinking Harbaugh is coming and anyone who doesn't agree is wrong.

Brian also said 0% chance of Hoke being hired so maybe he doesn't have sources inside an AD currently in transition that is almost certainly only reaching out through back channels at the very highest level. My guess is that Hackett has talked to someone, and that one someone has also talked to Harbaugh or his agent and that is it. Nobody else knows jack about the search because there is nothing to know.
What this guys sources or Brians sources believe means absolutely nothing because it is guesswork based off hearesay.
|2 days 6 hours ago||I have no idea if this guy is||
I have no idea if this guy is legit or not but it follows the pattern that literally all the national reporters are saying Harbaugh is not a thing. I'm sure he will at least listen to a call but anyone who thinks there is a better than like 25% chance Harbaugh turns down an NFL coaching job, which he will get offered, to come back to college is just lying to themselves.
The whole there are bigger issues than coaching is so stupid. What bigger issues? If a new coach comes in and wins 10+ games in his first two years Michigan will be "back" and everyone will move on. Its all about wins and losses and that is 90% on the footall coach.
|2 days 8 hours ago||If you thought losing to||
If you thought losing to Kentucky last year was annoying as they rebounded 60% of their misses this year would be so much worse. Their frontcourt would get like 90% of available rebounds, we would have to shoot like 90% from three to win that game.
And no way do I think Duke is better or equal 1-5 and part of what makes this Kentucky team absurd is that their 6-10 is as good or better in some spots. They have booker, who would be starting for us as their 7th guy off the bench. And of course upsets happen, I'm just saying its going to take Kentucky having a bad game to lose, not just a mediocore game but an actual bad game.

Calipari doesn't have to cheat at Kentucky. They have absurd facilities, an amazing fanbase, great arena to play in. The players are gods on campus and are almost guaranteed to compete for a championship and be prepared for the NBA. As much as a sleeze as he is calipari is also a great coach.

If Kentucky doesn't win a championship this year it's because they choked. Nobody in college is going to beat them on a night they play well. They probably have at least 8 first round picks on the team if not more.

Honest answer I went to about 3-4 games a year as a student from 2009-2013, I could only afford season tickets for football and basketball so I mostly just picked up extra free seats from friends with season tickets. I was there pre and post renovation and while I think some things can impact atmosphere like the goal horn being annoying as shit the biggest difference to me was way less students and other fans were showing up, not where they were sitting. When the game was close and Michigan played well the place got as loud as it did in my first 3 years there and when they got blown out by a shit team on Friday night it sucked and the team has done a lot more of the latter over the past 3 years.
It is a matter of opinion whether a place has lost its 'feel'. I don't agree that if felt that different the first time I walked in. Just like the renovation to crisler didn't make it louder, the team playing better did the hockey renovations didn't make yost quiter, the team playing shitty did.
|3 days 6 hours ago||How exactly do you neuter an||
How exactly do you neuter an arena? Yost was loud because of its shape and tight confines. They didn't change the structrure of the building and being a few rows back shouldn't make the students less loud in a space like that. The atmosphere sucsk now because the fans are not as into it because the team sucks. That is the way spors works. In the early 2000's comcast center (maryland basketball) was one of the loudest and hardest places to play in the country, now it is just another arena and the only difference is the team sucks now. That is how it works in sports, if you are bad for multiple years in a row that fans stop being as lound and crazy.

Its probably mostly that the team has sucked for the last 3 years and people are putting the lack of enthusiasm from that into their complaints.

I can't imagine the shit show this blog would be if Harbaugh returns to college but to coach Florida instead.

I swear to god if someone points to this team as an example of why rich rod is a good coach I'm going to get so pissed. He may be a good coach but this team is luckier thank Hokes 11-2 team.

This feels like the last go round with Harbaugh. Guys with Michigan connections saying there is a chance and national NFL people saying lol nope he is going to the NFL.

You really don't think he would take the jets job if offered a gm position with it? What about the giants who may be looking for a coach? There are more teams.

Why is being ranked in the top 5 for a five year stretch but missing bowl games and having losing seasons like Alabama has in the time period better than having consistency over the entire period with spread out runs at the title? Is Miami really faring better right now because they dominated a 5 year stretch in the early 2000s or are they in the same place as us but in an even longer drought.
|1 week 3 days ago||9/10 wins a season doesn't||
9/10 wins a season doesn't equal fighting for a national championship most years which is what the OP wanted and for the schools you listed. I'll even ignore since before 1990 since that is pretty much what everyone is doing anyways.
Since 1990 Michigan has had 8 seasons over 10 wins and a national championship.
Alabama has had 13 (some were vacated due to sanctions, and 5 of them have come in the last 5 years) and 3 national champioships. They are the cream of the crop and the only team that comes even close to what the OP wants and even still their 5 year stretch nicely covers over that they were bad and missed bowl games in multiple years in the ealry 2000's and at times in the 90's.
Miami has 8 seasons with over 10 wins and 2 national championships and have had 2 seaons with over 8 wins since 2006 which is a worse stretch than michigan is currently in. They also have missed bowl games in both the 90's and 2000's
Florida State has 15 seasons with 10 wins or more and 3 national championships. They also have not missed a bowl game since 90, probably the most consistent team of the period.
I'm bored and this is already long enough to prove my point. While Michigan hasn't been great recently the expectations expected by the OP are insane. The most successful programs of the last 20+ years still have "only" 3 national championships, which comes out to about once every 8-10 years. Expecting more than that is insanity.
|1 week 3 days ago||Yeah Bo didn't win the||
Yeah Bo didn't win the championships that some of the other greats did and that weighs on his record but since then ohio state has only been slightly more relevant on the national stage, can't call bo a choker and then think Cooper was good, hell carr was better than cooper. Also you say other programs put in less money and get better results which programs would that be? Osu puts in more so not them, how many programs over the last 40 years have had periods were they were competitive for national championships more than once every 8-10 years? You've had teams with good 5 year stretches but then they go 10-15 with nothing. You just have unrealistic expectations of what a program should look like.

The last two drives were why people in baltimore wanted mattison gone. He completely changes the way he call defenses and loves the 3 man rush soft coverage. Have a team with a long 3rd down inside its own 10 that can't block you? rush 3. It makes no sense.

That game is also credited as the reason the tourney expanded to include non conference champions, had a pretty big impact on the history of college basketball. Also while Maryland is obviously not carolina or duke in terms of history they left the ACC with the third most ACC wins behind those two. It has been a rough decade for Marlyand basketball but they are at least a top 20 program historically and might be in the most talent rich part of the country when it comes to hoops. Over the long run Maryland will be a good add to the big ten in pretty much everything but football.

There are so many nfl teams to compete with harbaugh for. Bears, Jets, Miami, maybe the giants, Oakland. There is a chance one of those teams gets desperate and offers harbaugh full control and then we can say bye to any chance of getting him since control is probably the biggest draw back to the college game.

|2 weeks 5 hours ago||See this is what I think is||
See this is what I think is wack. A fake show of sportmanship by shaking hands before the game should mean more than the actual actions during the game? I don't care if you shake my hand if when I turn around you punch me in the back of the head. I'd rather you not shake my hand and then have a straight boxing match or whatever, the metaphor fell apart and you get the point. Edsall shook Franklins hand afterwards, Maryland apologized and said it was the wrong thing to do but nothing they did on the field during the game was dirty. MSU had players intentionally twisting helmets after a player was on the ground (so did lewan) and faced no penalty. Actions are more important to me than the show of "sportsmanship" that a forced handshake before the game implies.
|2 weeks 5 hours ago||All sounds good to me and you||
All sounds good to me and you seem like a good dude. I just get annoyed because the guys who were out there to shake hands and the seniors on the team had been partially recruited by Franklin. I think they took the shit he was saying personally and while not shaking hands wasn't the right way to respond nobody is mentioning it when talking about the handshake and it plays a role.

There are two harbaughs. One is getting run out of san francisco. The other is not leaving the ravens and the only place anybody thins there is a chance of it is on this blog for really no apparent reason other than, Harbaugh! and he wasn't super happy with not kicking rice off the team immediatley.
|2 weeks 6 hours ago||I mean there wasn't anything||
I mean there wasn't anything dirty during the game. I would rather my team not shake hands with another team than shake hands and play dirty like msu did a couple years back. I don't agree with the decision to not shake hands and think it makes Maryland look bad but them getting fined for that but not "60 minutes of unnescesary roughness" is putting the emphasis on the wrong parts of sportsmanship.

You are right, but I wasn't commenting on you, just what was happening around your program. You came to a Michigan fan board to post shit about Maryland, I am a Michigan fan who grew up in Maryland and decided to make fun of psu for how much losing to Maryland bothers you all.
