As great as Bo was I hope not. Would love to actually win a national championship at some point in the near future.
|1 week 1 day ago||So because I don't like||
So because I don't like helmet stickers and don't automatically think that because it came from Bo it must be a good idea I'm not a Michigan fan? Ok.

Is it bad that when I see a QB target considering LSU I get really scared? Who is their last good QB?
|1 week 1 day ago||Unfortunatley historical||
Unfortunatley historical accuracy matters less than perception in these issues. OSU is known for having helmet stickers, it is their thing regardless of what happened in the 50's and 60's.

Not sure how my post got got corrected to tryed, that does make me look dumb. But I don't really care what Moeller or Bo gave stickers for because they look dumb and just because it happened in the past doesn't autmotically make it a positive.

They just fill in the rest of the helmet making the winged part irrelevant.

That looks terrible and cluttered and ruins one of the best helmets in football. But I guess because it was Bo's idea everyone loves it.
|1 week 1 day ago||Hate the look of helmet||
Hate the look of helmet stickers. Everyone here always freaks out about changing the helmet and yet the best part is the clean classic look. All stickers do is clutter shit up. Plus its like fucking handing out gold stars in kindergarten, oh you tryed hard in practice, here is a sticker. How about if you play well in practice you get to play in the game, that is the reward.

The Thunder are a terribly coached team. Last night I watched Texas run 5 straight minutes of iso ball to end the game as they lost to a less talented Butler team. When a play breaks down pretty much all teams run iso ball, college or NBA and it is usually because there is not enough time to run a play anymore not because of style of play in the league.
And for all the shit a team like the Thunder get Westbrook is averaging over 8 assists a game even with an injury destroyed team. Chris Paul and John Wall, two all stars average 10 assists a game. The NBA is better basketball than college, better offense, better defense, and better individual players. You can still like college basketball more for other reasons but nobody who actually follows/cares about basketball thinks the quality of play is lower in the NBA and that included offense being run and defense being played. Just because you can point out individuals who don't work hard on defense doesn't mean that is what happens in the league.

Neither does Trey Burke. Or really Michigan period.

"Lack of defensive effort" is the second easiest way to determine if someone doesn't bother to watch the NBA, right behind focus on iso's rather than running an offense.
|1 week 4 days ago||It is 5 possesions, not 2.5||
It is 5 possesions, not 2.5 and it is a pretty stark drop. It is also reflective of a change in style of play. Teams don't get out and run in tranisition nearly as much as they used to, don't press and go for steals nearly as much as they used to. These are safer ways to play and result in increased efficiency but decreased enjoyment.

"NBA offenses focuisng on iso" is the easiest way to tell that somebody doesn't watch the NBA at all.

I didn't downvote you but bragging after the first day of the tournament is useless.
|1 week 4 days ago||Not sure why this is||
Not sure why this is difficult for people to seperate but the NCAA has a pace/style of play crisis not a scoring crisis. Teams are playing slower and more conservative both on offense and defense and the result is a game that is less fun to watch even if they shoot the same percentage and score on the same % of possessions.
Even if both teams shoot 60% a 55-50 game isn't going to be that exciting to watch.

I mean be honest. Say you don't know what you want to do with your life but the skills, knowledge, and experience provided by Ross will be invaluable in any situation and will help you decide. It's not that hard.
The real question is why are you actually applying to Ross? Just because you heard you'll make a lot of money? Ross is great at helping people get employed but you need some aspiration of your own.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||I think it depends where you||
I think it depends where you are coming from. Growing up in Maryland I grew up on watching great up an down teams. My love of college basketball and hate of all things duke comes from some of my best sports memories being epic games between Maryland and duke in the late 90s and early 2000s. Unc proved the superiority of fast paced athletic basketball when they wiped the floor with msu on a yearly basis. Most of my friends from high school like college basketball more than college football and really hate seeing the slower pace of play starting to dominate the game, regardless of efficiency games in the 50s and low 60s are tough to watch when that's what you grew up with. It would be like an Oregon fan watching their team run power football next year and never spread it out or go hurry up, even if they got 4 yards most times and still scored on most albeit fewer overall drives.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||Would that be when they||
Would that be when they played Louisville and unc? Two of the largest most devoted fanbases in basketball? I don't think UVA was the reason those games had high ratings. Also yes UVA is a top 5 team this year, people will watch games between two top 10 teams. Doesnt mean most people who follow college basketball think the product is less exciting and fun to watch than it used to be.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||I thought they were and||
I thought they were and that's why kenpom always ranked them highly. But Wisconsin is just an example. A drop in 5 possessions a game is significant since it 2002 was already down from the 90s. It reflects a change in the way the game is being played that is less agressive and less fun to watch.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||Thank you for recognizing||
Thank you for recognizing that a drop of possessions is a huge indicator of watchability of basketball. Wisconsin always played extremely efficient offense but they still sucked to watch as they beat teams 55-45. Watching isn't about efficiency it's about a fun free flowing game with huge runs. The game has lost it's get out and run style that is fun to watch, steals are down because teams are more conservative on offense and defense valuing efficiency to a fault. College basketball is less fun to watch now than it was even though teams score with similar efficiency.

Lets not go crazy here, we have beaten Illinois and Rutgers, not exactly top tier competition. This team is still only 2 games removed from completely collapsing against Northwestern but today was great to watch and hopefully gets them into the NIT.
Also I know Chatman's offense wasn't great today but I thought he did a lot of other things well, played solid D and was grabbing a lot of boards. He seems to have started figuring himself out positionally and catching up to the speed of the game, now its about consistency.
|2 weeks 6 days ago||He still plays well but has||
He still plays well but has had some injury concerns the last 2 seasons. The reason the ravens traded him isn't he wasn't playing worth his cap number as a top 5 d player but the lions have more cap space so it works for them.

But yeah haloti is great both as a player and guy but got outplayed by Brandon Williams this year and he wasn't going to take a pay cut so happy to get a 4th and 5th rather than just cutting him. Good trade for both teams.
|3 weeks 11 hours ago||I think stats are great but||
I think stats are great but this is one of those times where you can use the eye test a little with respect to teams. For example it is pretty hard to justify MSU being a better team than Maryland after watching the two teams this year. Maryland is certainly a team that could be upset but they also are the sort of team that can beat almost any team in the country. MSU is more in the middle.
|3 weeks 13 hours ago||I have to wonder why people||
I have to wonder why people keep mentioned Robinson like he is some future lottery pick we are brining in. The guy will probably play max like 15 minutes a game because of an inability to play defense or create his own shot and will average like 4-6 points. Is 4-6 points and 15 minutes really such a game changer? Especially for a guy who if he is have an off shooting night is pretty useless. This is a guy whose ceiling as an offesnive player seems to be freshman year Irvin and at least freshman year Irvin has some athletecism too for at least a little bit of defense. It isn't like any other major teams were looking at this guy as a transfer.

The awards have nothing to do with your team finished. DJ Newbill is one of the best players in the big ten, doesn't matter that he played for penn state. Having a high 3 point percentage shot doesn't get you any awards. No individual player on our team had a good enough season to even warrant honorable mention, it is that simple and the other coaches aren't wrong about it.
