Oline makes the whole team better, being able to block bosa last year would have been the biggest difference maker for the offense.
I loved Denard but he doesn't offer that much of an upgrade as a playmaker over peppers.
Really the sad thing is we had 7 years and two coaches without a qb good enough at throwing the ball to be the unamious choice to fill the glaring hole at qb.
|3 hours 2 min ago||Denard wasn't a good enough||
Denard wasn't a good enough of a qb to make the throws necessary to beat an elite defense. If your goal is a championship adding lewan or Jake Ryan or something is increasing your chance to win the championship more

Its hard to keep track of 150 kids, and when you are trying to do that sometimes one of the 50 who really matter have a mistake happen. Of course it not the only reason for a decommitment but a letter being sent about an event you didn't attend that spells your name wrong is pretty insulting.
If you offer and focus in on a smaller group stuff like that is likely to happen, I think casting a really wide net can be great for a lot of reasons, it can get you the Benhamin St. Juste's of the world but it comes with some consequences and I think we might be seeing some of that, just like we did last year with offers not really being offers not being communicated clearly enough.

I just wonder what leverage Warde has, he needs to come big dick swinging and make Hollis and msu eat it because there is a zero percent chance they willingly give UM to home games back to back even if it makes sense for them to balance out their schedule too.

Based off what happened with the Aubrey Soloman stuff it feels like the staff may be over reaching their capacity with the offer canoon. Creates mistakes that shouldn't be happening with top recruits.

Just like Michigan "offers" kids. Nobody is keeping their word in this so as long as everyone is truthful its all semantics. Committed means heavy leader and taking kid means until the school can find someone better.
He is probably going to end up at OSU.

It hard to pick betweem the two, Bolt is more dominant but less accomplished, partly because you can compete in slighlty more in swimming but also because of choice. Alyson Felix competes in the 100,200, and 400 for example which also means she competes in two relays, the same number phelps does.
I give the slight edge to Phelps for doing what no person has ever done before in a singly olympics.
|2 days 14 min ago||This is such a terrible||
This is such a terrible argument to make at elite levels. Are the accomplishments of Messi and Ronaldo greater than the accomplishments of Brady because more people play soccer in the world. What about cricket? More people play cricket than football growing up.
Sprinting at the Olympics has been dominated by the United states until recently when it has been dominated by bolt. China, japan, most of Europe and Australia put out more elite swimmers than sprinters. Middle distant and long distance and field might be a different story but when it comes to sprinting it isn't that spread out in terms of elite talent.
|2 days 18 min ago||Bolt could have won medals in||
Bolt could have won medals in the 400 and 800, he just never tried. If he ran the 400 he also could have run the 4x400 and had another chance at gold. There is also long jump which sprinters have done in the past and 110 m hurdles all available for bolt to have tried. Him not pushing himself beyond one skill isn't a reason to knock phelps. Track has plenty of opportunities to win medals, hell bolt used to run the 400 as a teenager.
|2 days 33 min ago||Yeah its not like hurdles||
Yeah its not like hurdles don't exist, or other great sprinters in the past have competed like things in the long jump before. Bolt by rule was only allowed to sprint.
|2 days 35 min ago||Phelps pushed himself to||
Phelps pushed himself to compete in strokes he wasn't the best at, that's how he got to 8 golds. Bolt never tried to push himself past sprinting and that is why dominant, he never did something that hadn't been done in a single Olympics before.
They both have longevity, Phelps has won two event 4 times in a row that had never been done and bolt won three times in a row. But Phelps had the single greatest Olympics of all time whIle multiple runners have won the 100 and 200 in the Same Olympics.

The math doesn't make any sense. He has been in college for 6 years? At an avg of 25 per year that would be 150 scholarships. Plus he has guys in that graphic that were there when he got to the spots, not people he necessarily recruited which would increase the number as well.
Just seems like a bad graphic even if they weren't using the wrong picture of a former osu player.

Coaching ability is great and helpful but Meyer is just as good as a college coach as Harbaugh is.
The reason we want to out recruit MSU is because look at what happened to them against Bama. A well coached underdog team might be able to pull off a big upset, the chance of doing it in back to back games against elite teams is pretty small.

Ha yeah I realized that after I posted, was just responding to the question and it got longer than it should have, tried to make sure I was clear it was about semantics and wasn't going to go back and forth with people this time.
|5 days 7 hours ago||I mean its not worth getting||
I mean its not worth getting into again, I think I started it last time and the argument is that it is allowed to have tiers of 1 team because a more accurate grouping would be tier 1 osu, tier 2 michigan, tier 3 where Ace starts.
But like Ace said its not worth arguing again. OSU has a much better class than michigan in pretty much every imaginable way right now so believing they are equal because they are close in the technial rankings (as ace points out Michigan is closer to #3 in points than #19 psu but doesn't mention we are the same distance behind osu as psu is behind us). If 44 points is enough to distinguish between psu and michigan being on different tiers I'd think a 47 point difference would imply michigan and osu are on different tiers too. Its all semantics anyways and Michigan is geting enough top tier talent to compete.
The important difference is that Michigan could get some elite talent still (looking at you DPJ, Ambry Thomas, etc.) which is the real thing osu has over us right now and how it ends is more important than where it stands and Michigan has a ceiling of a class that is close to osu, we just aren't near that ceilieng yet.

O'Korn had a habit of making terrible decisions that got him benched at Houston. Maybe he's lost that but until he does Speight is going to be the guy. Everyone just assumed O'Korn would show up and we would get all the positives with none of the negatives that led to his benching and transfer, I'm not sure that is the case. If Harbaugh could just magically make every QB reach their full potential in two years of coaching Shane would be the heighest ceiling guy on the team. But sometimes that isn't how it works and we shouldn't just be assuming it will with O'Korn.
|1 week 1 day ago||We are starting a true||
We are starting a true sophmore LT that was having trouble with speed rushes chase winovich this spring and Magnuson may improve but he isn't going to stopping elite guys off the edge. This team has goals of playing in a national championship and that means going up against elite d lines and and I don't have a ton of faith the tackles will hold up in the passing game.
Bosa may be gone but its not like Malik McDowell isn't a top 10 draft pick on a major rivals defensive line or OSU has sam hubbard who was technically more productive of an edge rusher than Bosa on a per snap basis plus Bosa's younger brother who apparently is better than he was as a freshman. So yeah, I have a few nerves about the Oline holding up during the two biggest games on our schedule.

Just to be safe you should probably just stop posting until we beat msu and osu.
|1 week 1 day ago||Encouraging to see the play||
Encouraging to see the play calling work but that OL information is scary. Its pretty much the same OL and if Michigan dreams of being an elite team its going to face some good Dlines, MSU nerfng any advantage the Michigan offense and OSU still having extremely talented edge rushers come to mind. Plus little Bosa is supposedly better than just left Bosa (as a freshman to freshman comparison). Need to get those tackle position fixed much sooner than later since I can't imagine Magnuson is going to control Sam Hubbard either.
|1 week 4 days ago||Your point would make more||
Your point would make more sense if we didn't also lose to Utah, MSU, only beat Minnesota because of pure coaching incompetence, and barely squeked by Indiana. Its not like we had one bad game against one really good team. we were a good not great team last year, don't have a starting QB and an Oline with some big questions.
OSU and MSU have proven they have built programs that can handle year over year change because they've done it before. Of course you can look at the rosters and make predictions, and what these coaches see is a team that beat one team you wouldn't expect them too all year in Florida and got embarrased by the only elite team on the schedule.
|1 week 4 days ago||I have zero issue with what||
I have zero issue with what anyone said. We did get dismantled by OSU at home, we did lose to msu at home, we almost lost to both minnesota, and indiana. Don't trust a team until they prove it on the field makes perfect sense to me.
We win the big games this year and people will start respecting us, its pretty simple.
