His main calling cards are that he did well at Bama under Saban and at Georgia under Smart. He's a defensive coach and so it's almost impossible to separate his influence from Saban's and Smart's. 

Moreover, I would expect most coaches to be able to win given Bama and Georgia's talent advantages. How many mediocre coaches have gone through Saban's program only to flame out - McElwain, Nussmeier, and Sark being examples. 

MSU fans are deluding themselves into thinking that he's the savior of their program. Many of their arguments are predicated on justifying the exorbitant price MSU is paying him and that he was one of their top choices all along. MSU has to pay him that much because no coach with a winning record would touch their toxic program.

This season has been good…

This season has been good for me, if anything. It's allowed me to reevaluate my priorities and become less emotionally attached to football. I'll always enjoy it, but the Ohio State game last year and this season have broken something in me. I no longer live and die based on Michigan football, and my overall well-being has improved. I'm no longer tethered to Michigan football. 

Believe it or not, there are far more important things in life than football. I don't imagine that anyone reflecting on life has wished they watched even more football. 

I've got a new girlfriend, I'm trying to finish up my Ph.D., I'm trying to read interesting books, and all the while I'm trying to balance those with a social life. I'll put the game on, but I don't feel bad just walking away if Michigan isn't doing well. It's better to not be obsessed with football.

The "Law of Averages" …

The "Law of Averages" (Strong Law of Large Numbers) doesn't work like that. You don't accumulate some debt that the universe somehow knows to pay off. 

All the Strong Law of Large Numbers says is that you take countably many independent random variables with the same distribution and finite mean, the sample average will converge to the mean with probability 1. It makes absolutely no guarantee on finite samples. For that, you need concentration of measure results, and those are only probabilistic guarantees - nothing is promised.

Now, that is even presuming that Michigan's "performance average" is somehow a coin flip with fixed probability. Obviously, it's not. We have a lower probability of success against stronger opponents than weaker opponents.

They've been a recruiting thorn in our side for a very long time, so I'm not too sad about them tanking. Seriously, how many recruiting head-to-heads have we lost to them? To be fair, they were almost all California kids who wanted to stay closer to home, but still. We also lost a few transfers to them as well (Asiasi).

I agree. This is looking worse than Rich Rod at Michigan, because Kelly's recruiting is *abysmal*. Whatever talent they currently have isn't being replaced. I wouldn't be surprised if we look back at the Kelly tenure as the one which destroyed UCLA football for a decade or more. And I don't mean "destroyed" in the sense of barely making bowl games a la Hoke's Michigan teams. I mean Illinois/Rutgers of the west coast destroyed.

Not sure I agree with that. While the system may be trash and Kelly may have been figured out, DTR wasn't completing easy throws which would have helped UCLA. The kid is talented enough to be making those throws in practice and more casual situations, but in game-time he looked overwhelmed.

The NCAA does not exist to administer justice, protect student athletes, or to be fair. It exists to maintain, and be a front for, a profitable business structure. Once that is understood, it become clear why the NCAA will never seriously crack down on PED usage, large-scale academic fraud, and paying players.

I'm wondering how much rain would affect the game. The best part of OSU's offense has been their passing game. I trust our run game more than their's, and so I believe a rainy day could be advantageous for us. It would hinder the best part of their offense and leave them with little else to fall back on.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I know a lot of people don't like us "processing" recruits. However, I think it is better to have difficult conversations early so that players know where they would potentially stand on the depth chart. It gives them the chance to make a more informed decision along with their families.

I agree that attending games…

I agree that attending games is now a miserable experience. 

I am a grad student at Texas A&M, and 2016s A&M-Tennessee game broke me. It went into overtime,and the game lasted nearly five hours. Much like the Michigan student section, the A&M student section stands for the entirety of the game. Standing for that long in Texas heat was an absolutely miserable experience. I attended the home games with my girlfriend the following year, but now that she has graduated, I have refused to purchase a sports pass. 

I have no desire to waste literally half of my day getting to the game, attending the game, and then returning from the game. I'm then exhausted for the rest of the day, and I've missed so much other good football. If games are going to last over three hours, I won't be attending.

We had just annihilated his team, and he was trying to find something positive to say to his guys so that they could keep their heads up and go into the next week not too down on themselves.

A single game has way too much Variance to accurately predict who is best. Even though he lost, it's not unreasonable for him to say that.
As an A&M grad student,

one big problem has been player discipline. We've had multiple players suspended for key games, which constributed to the streakiness.

Our offense typically flows from dominating the paint and getting rebounds. 

Mo is going to have his hands full. If he continues to play poorly, Michigan will lose.

The purpose of lifting weights is to become strong And strength helps in nearly all aspects of playing football. Lifting heavy weights builds strength the quickest. You should be wearing belts even at weights which powerlifters would consider "light". If our linemen were to only lift weight they could manage safely without the use of the belt, we'd have the wekeast offensive line in the country. Also, you say that a belt if artificially helping the kinetic chain, but then argue for the glory of machine work. Do you realize how stupid that is?
A belt is not simply a cue. Your core contracts much harder working against a belt than it otherwise would.
This is hilariously misinformed Belts are not a crutch, and your core doesn't stop working as soon as you put on a belt. In fact, the opposite happens.
I remember how anxious I was waiting for college acceptance letters. Good luck. It's a difficult time, but you'll get through it. I hope you get into Michigan, considering it seems to be your dream school.
