If that’s the impasse, it’s…

If that’s the impasse, it’s could be the same impasse for NFL teams.  Based on previous precedent, the NFL will follow along with any punishment the NCAA hands out.  Unless the owner has got a written guarantee from Goddell that he will tell the NCAA to F off on Harbaugh or the contract is short and small enough to just eat it, it’s the same impasse.

Are the small schools gonna…

Are the small schools gonna vote for this?  I guess if they vote no, then the only alternative is for a super conference for the big schools.

That where I disagree. …

That where I disagree.  Going into champ week, it was Georgia, Mich, Washington, and FSU at 1,2,3,4.  Every top 4 team would have held serve and the SEC champ would have been in if Georgia won.  Then the committee would have been using the criteria that “games matter” to keep Texas out.

The ESPN graphics department…

The ESPN graphics department made a large bet.

Based on Vegas odds, it’s gonna be FSU and Texas for the last two spots.  I think FSU is #3 and Texas is #4 because Texas has the one loss.  I would also bet a few bucks on Bama making it just because…

He is a loser, but if ESPN…

He is a loser, but if ESPN was aware of threats and something happened, then that becomes a big legal liability.

Tiny Tony is getting paid…

Tiny Tony is getting paid side money by the network executives to collapse the Big Ten.  Go after one of the big school for the tiniest infraction with help from media to make headline news.  Have that school be so pissed of they decide to initiate talks with other big schools to ditch these conferences held up by blue blood programs but beholden to minnows and the NCAA.  They create a super conference of blue bloods, and sign massive deals with media outlets.  TV shows super conference games from noon to 3 am with ratings rivaling the NFL.  Media company executives toast each other with Dom Perignon on their genius plan.  Can someone write up a draft to turn this into a drama for Netflix?

The simplest answer for a…

The simplest answer for a new conference that doesn’t involve UM doing much leg work, convincing other teams, and what ifs is the SEC.  Sure they hated M and Harbaugh when M wasn’t a part of the conference, but the SEC protects their own, especially if they are a big revenue generator.

Every conference does that…

Every conference does that so BIG is not unique.  The “benefit” of BIG to M is that BIG schedules M rivals in all sports annually on a consistent basis.  But, if M doesn’t care for our rivals because they are hiring PI firms and purposely attempting to injure our players in tunnels, then BIG is interchangeable with any other conference.  SEC will probably provide more money over long term.  Go independent, probably slightly less than BIG.  Any other conference unless it’s the super conference won’t provide that same revenue.  As for leaving BIG, there are probably a long list of out clauses in our contract.  And if not, will M still remember how they were treated after the media deal runs out?  I would say yes.  Is firing Tony enough?  Maybe.

At that point, wasn’t…

At that point, wasn’t Stalions pinned to a dozen games already? One more games was whatever.  Right now, Sankey’s just ripping shots and laughing it up as idiot Tony is gifting him a top 5 combo athletic/academic institution.

Texas has contacts with AD…

Texas has contacts with AD since we have a home and home with them.  They are also a fellow AAU member and a SEC newbie.  Probably a good go between for initial discussions.

Trying to but I got to wait on this TRO to be granted.

I don’t know where anyone…

I don’t know where anyone got the idea that ND won’t join BIG because of Michigan.  Every ND alumni I know wants to be independent first, but if they had to join a conference, it would definitely join a conference with M and in a year SC.

It’ll still has to come down…

It’ll still has to come down to money at the end.  The Board has a fiduciary duty to not have M athletics lose money.  With SEC or independence, it would be making more or within the range of BIG money.  ACC would be too much lost revenue.

Conferences in today’s world…

Conferences in today’s world are a business.  They are there to make money for their members.  When a conference decides to screw with one of their top two revenue generators unnecessarily, it has failed its function as a business.  If M can’t change the business by changing the commissioner, then it needs to leave the business and seek a new conference.

Three big one national, but…

Three big one national, but you have W, Minn, Iowa, and Neb pulling in eyeballs regionally with cable subscribers for Maryland and Rutgers.  That’s out of 14 teams.  Once the Pac 4 joins, there is now 5 national, with 2 more large regional draws.  The problem with the previous list was just too many schools that are secondary in their region like TCU, wake, NCst, KanSt.

I would agree with a super…

I would agree with a super conference without the NCAA.  I think if you can get 8 blue blood schools to agree, you can get to whatever number you think is necessary for competition and scheduling.  Maybe this is the event that ends the NCAA hold over college football.

There is only five schools…

There is only five schools that is pulling in eyeballs for football.  Money won’t work.

Way too many schools.  New…

Way too many schools.  New league doesn’t have to be more than 30ish.  Trim the SDSs, UCFs, etc.  The blue bloods should leave the BIG and SEC and create a new league.  Only way to leave behind the Northwesterns and Vandys.

The other four are sec teams…

The other four are sec teams: Georgia, Bama, Texas, Oklahoma.

The June and august…

The June and august scheduling for the us open and PGA favored northern courses a lot more than the current schedule.  But with the PGA moving their headquarters and building a major championship course in the Dallas area, August wasn’t going to work, unless players and fans were asking for heat strikes.  They had to move to May to accommodate the infrastructure they built.

Lead time for most OEM is…

Lead time for most OEM is about 4 to 8 weeks if you are ordering custom shafts.  PXG has a one week turnaround, because they have a limited selection of shafts to choose from.  If you are near a PXG store, they only charge $50 for a full bag fitting.  And for a full bag of clubs, it’s pretty cheap especially if you wait for the end of the product cycle.  I think it’s the best deal in golf and I play PXG.  Some top level golfer would knock PXG especially in driver tech, but unless your handicap has a + in front and a club-head speed above 110mph, it won’t matter.  Any clubs from any OEM that has enough forgiveness with properly flexed and weighted shaft will work all around the same. It’s 99 percent archer, 1 percent bow.

It gonna be OSU and Bama in the last two spots.  I think we’ll play Bama so they won’t have two in conference matchups for the semis.

It should just be Georgia vs Michigan this year BCS style.  All the other teams don’t deserve it.

They play 36 holes and take a break after the first 18.  They won’t be rushing since no one else will be on the course.  Unless it is an epic blowout, we’ll see the back nine for sure.

Norte Dame isn’t part of the AAU, doesn’t add anything to the BTAA.  ND is not on the same level as the rest of the Big Ten in terms of research dollars and graduate and post graduate prestige.  The presidents of the universities make the decision on who gets in. ND is not a shoe in.

ND choices are either stay…

ND choices are either stay independent, beg BIG to join without AAU status, or hold their nose and join the SEC.  They aren’t going down on a sinking ship (ACC).

I don’t think any of the universities listed are slouches in term of academics, research grants, etc.

Didn’t everyone think Texas…

Didn’t everyone think Texas was untouchable because they had the best deal in the Big12 with their own cable network and they also had a GoR agreementw.  The SEC and ESPN found a way in.  And if the ACC GoR agreement is rock solid, it’s still possible for a school to have an agreement to leave for another conference in the future.  Texas and OU as of now aren’t suppose to leave until July 2025.  So why can an ACC school have an agreement to leave in 2036?  Plus if UNC, UVA, Duke, FSU, Miami, VaTech, Clemson, Pitt, ND, GaTech all had agreement to leave in 2036, would the ACC even last until 2023?

Shake with your right hand, stab them in the back with your left.  Very GoT of Kevin Warren if that is what will happen, but very bad optics though.

It’s a war of revenue, not a…

It’s a war of revenue, not a war of votes.  So the SEC decides they don’t like the rules and leaves.  They want to pay their players.  They have the money to do so.  They have ESPN to broadcast their games.  The difference for a high school bball player between the G-league and college is that no one watches the G-league.  They can’t market themselves for the future.  Not with the SEC and football.  So now the best players play in the SEC.  Would people nationally watch the Alliance when the players aren’t as good?  If we need to pay players, is there revenue to do so to compete with the SEC?  Can the Big10 maintain the revenue race without poaching?  If the Alliance announce that we are never playing the SEC in a regular season game, and the Alliance was going to schedule a big time national game cross conference game every month or week, I would be more confident for revenue.  Alas, it was nothing.

ND, UNC, UVA, GaTech, Pitt…

ND, UNC, UVA, GaTech, Pitt go Big10.  Miami, FSU, Vatech, Duke, Clemson go SEC.  10 out of the 15 want to leave, but would want to dissolve the ACC before to get out of the GOR.  Would a court find that the minority can overrule the majority in this situation?  I would think the legal and logical solution would be for the leaving members to pay an annual fee to the those that remain the difference of their future media deal with what the projected ACC media would have been until 2036, but that a very doable deal for the one that can get picked up by either Big10/SEC.

But having a guy in NYC pay…

But having a guy in NYC pay their cable company for a package that includes the Big Ten network may be more profitable that have Michigan by itself in a world where everyone’ independent.  Then no one gets a NBC national deal because their isn’t enough NBC’s for every team.

If a majority of ACC schools…

If a majority of ACC schools agree to leave the conference by going to either the SEC or Big10, then can they not dissolve the ACC as an entity?

When they dissolve after the…

When they dissolve after the Big 10 and SEC raid them, then there isn’t a buyout.

Swap out Clemson for FSU to…

Swap out Clemson for FSU to get the Florida market.

I would think that only the…

I would think that only the 32’s schools football program detaches from the NCAA.  The bball side stays in the NCAA either in the super conference or in their original conference.  For me, whoever wins the playoff in football amongst the 32 is the undisputed national champion.  If the bball teams also leave the NCAA, then it’s debatable who’s the real champ if there is a super conference champion (UCLA) vs a NCAA tourney champ (UK).  Adding too many schools for bball dilutes the revenue when football is the real cash cow.

Went by stadium sizes…

Went by stadium sizes especially on campus college football stadiums only.  The end of the list are easily interchangeable with other programs.  The super conference only really need eight uber elite teams (Bama, Texas, OU, USC, ND, Umich, OSU, UGA, etc.) to join, then they can pick and choose who else based on tv, revenue, etc to maximize revenue.  And maybe they stop at 24.  32 just matched the NFL and had enough teams to have an undisputed national football champion.

The problem for the blue…

The problem for the blue blood team right now is the mechanism for kicking out marginal team from their conference requires too many votes and will not happen.  The super conference will be formed because Bama doesn’t think it should have the same TV revenue as Vandy.  And it’s a problem with every conference.  And the super conference is only for football.  All other sports stay in their old conference alignment.

I don’t think they would go for it.  But then from a legal standpoint, an Athletic Department then doesn’t have to pay for 85 women’s scholarships plus the cost of their coaches, travel, infrastructure, etc.

The FBS schools can decide…

The FBS schools can decide that all football players are school employees and can unionize.  They are then not student athletes and not subject to Title IX.

If the FBS decide amongst…

If the FBS decide amongst themselves that their new governing entity won’t investigate, won’t have any rules on recruitment, outside money, etc. and thereby won’t punish anyone, fine.  It’s then clear and in print and way better than what’s in place right now.

If the FBS schools decide as…

If the FBS schools decide as a whole not to pay players, that’s a decision they made for themselves without any involvement from outside schools.  Having Ivies or small state private U involved with governing what Michigan and the Big Ten can or cannot do for its players doesn’t make any sense.

I use a ES14 from Ernest Sports.  A little expensive, but give you swing speed, ball speed, carry distance, total distance, launch angle, spin, and smash factor.  Retail is $500, but you can probably find one on eBay for much cheaper.
