I have no idea what the stats say, but there's a gaping fucking chasm between juveniles not receiving life sentences without the possibility of parole and not giving them athletic scholarships to attend a public university.

"Just" $5 though. What I want to know is what price these would have to be for the OP to not buy them.

Not trying to be a dick, but you're missing my point completely. All I'm asking for is honest and effective communication. I don't need to know when my power is on or need to talk to a real person.
|6 weeks 6 days ago||Regarding outage||
Regarding outage communication, I'm fine with you saying "I don't know" or the genaral message of "we think it will be Time A, but it could take longer". I'm not fine with you saying nothing, or telling me someone will be "right out", and then not having them there 3 days later.
My interpretation of the experience has been, "you're not going to like what we have to say so we're not going to talk to you". Which again, is a piss poor way to deal with your customers. But it's not like I can change utilities, so I guess it doesn't matter.

I'm generally fine with the fact that I don't have power, but I feel like DTE's communication has been piss poor.
1. The automated message wasn't updated until lunchtime on thursday (Thursday morning it still said "we are expecting high winds until 8 pm tonight).
I get that this is a severe storm and they have to prioritize their work in a way that makes sense. I don't understand why it's hard to honestly communicate what's going on.
I'm also tired, cold, and cranky, so maybe I'm just bitching.

Maybe "drives me insane" was a poor choice of words. In reality I just find it really confusing. I'm not confused that people who have met him like him, I'm confused by the people who haven't but talk about what a great guy he is like it's an indisputable fact. Plenty of people have met Rich Rodriguez and think he's a great dude, but no one on Mgoblog brings it up apropos of nothing (and that's fine, I don't think they should, it's just the disconnect that confuses me).

But isn't that true of 90% of ex-coaches? I'm not trying to say Brady Hoke is a bad guy. I don't know him and have no idea. I just find it really odd how often that sentiment is echoed on this board in particular.

That's funny, I didn't realize I said anything negative about him. Too bad, because you had a great week of practicing reading comprehension, but for whatever reason you just didn't execute when it came time to comment.

The whole "Brady Hoke is a great guy" narrative drives me insane. As far as I can tell it's based largely upon him clapping a lot and speaking in a folksy manner.

Yes, at the moment, everything about President Trump is political. Any assertion that it isn't is either disingenuous or, for lack of a better term, stupid.

The only regret that I have about switching from iphone to android has been the downgrade from the HD app to the official. So I guess looking on the brightside I don't have to regret that anymore.

So how many hours in the day do I have to think about politics? Do I need to dream about them too? If I get on a really high horse do I get bonus points?

|12 weeks 5 days ago||I'm not ignoring any of those||
I'm not ignoring any of those things. You seem to think that I have a problem with the charity drive. I don't. I'm glad he's able to raise money for a cause that he's passionate about. But just because it's a humanitarian issue, doesn't mean it's not a political one too. So to summarize:
The charity in question - not political (I assume)
Having a charity drive in general - not political
Having a charity drive in direct response to new political policy - political
|12 weeks 5 days ago||I'm not trying to argure||
I'm not trying to argure about "who started it" or who is right or wrong. I hope people give money to the charity, it seems like they do good work. I'm only arguing that, whether you like it or not, today it is a political issue.
|12 weeks 5 days ago||I don't have issues with what||
I don't have issues with what he wrote on his site. He's free to write whatever he likes. Similarly, If Brian want's to allow political discussion on this site, that's his perogative. But if you're telling me that posting a link to a fundraiser for a refugee charity, shortly after a controversial president passes a unprecedented ban on immigration isn't political, then you and I have very different definitions of political.
|12 weeks 5 days ago||In the past it wasn't||
In the past it wasn't political. When they do it in April, like they always do, it won't be political. This drive is very specifically political.
|12 weeks 5 days ago||Based on voting totals it||
Based on voting totals it looks like I'm in the minority, but I completely agree with Cue. The charity drive is completly political (to be clear, I'm not saying good or bad). The original post is clearly political (whether or not it was intended as such by the poster). A couple of the first comments in this thread were "Now more than ever", which I'm going to go out on a limb and say were political. All Cue said was he was tired of these political posts. If you want to tell everyone what a patriot you are or how dissatisfied you are, go to any other website, TV program, magazine, or just about any conversation anywhere. We should be able to come to Mgoblog and worry about super important things like the whims of 18 year olds who we don't know.
