Here in Michigan, the sunrise coast (Huron) is less expensive than the sunset (Michigan) coast.  There’s more development on the west coast Holland-Traverse City-Petoskey than the east.  Holland is definitely affordable relative to other lake towns and close to the amenities in Grand Rapids including a decent airport.

I’m a fellow LHS alum and I worked with Bryan’s mom after I graduated from Western.  Rightly so, she was devastated by his death.  I can still remember learning of his sacrifice.

Mama's is hands down the best two meals I've had anywhere in the world.  Sitting there on the shore of Maui with the Pacific breeze blowing in, eating fish caught off Molokai that morning is amazing.  I've had great meals all over the US and Europe but Mama's would be my last supper should I have to choose one.

Not by alum but by birth

I'm not an alum, but my father is and I was born at U of M.  I've always bled maize and blue, even all four years I was at Western.

4th and Inches-1991

Grbac to Howard on 4th and inches.  We all seem to love the call back then.

The fact is that either way the playcall goes, it's a risk-reward issue.

Clay Youngquist

Clay is going to Texas on a full ride and, baring disaster, we'll see him in the Olympics.

Gordie

I can't believe it, Gordie makes MgoBlog twice in the same week, amazing.

A TV newscaster in Grand Rapids once called The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, the national anthem of Michigan.

Not in a Cirrus

Brady Hoke is not flying to Scottsdale in a Cirrus SR22.  That's the same plane that Western uses as their main trainer.

Doubt that flight has anything to do with all of this.

Domino's Jet N220DF

Per FlightAware the Domino's Jet, N220DF, a Falcon 200 is scheduled to leave Baton Rouge at 8:10 cst (9:10 est) and fly to Willow Run arriving at 11:03.

I like him

I could be a Brady Hoke supporter.  For me it comes down to the coaching staff he builds.  If Loeffler is his QB coach and Trgovac is his DC I could handle it.

Yup

That's the guy.  Not only the Husker AD, but he's a Husker alum as well and still srewed it up in Lincoln.  If I'm not mistaken, he was AD at Pitt before Nebraska and then was welcomed back with open arms at Pitt.

Huskers

I'm married to a Cornhusker, the Callahan era drove her nuts.  When Osborne was brought on as AD you could feel the entire state become energized because they knew Dr. Tom would do the right thing.  We flew to Lincoln for Christmas right after he hired Pelini and there were "Welcome Bo" signs and t-shirts all over town.

Higgins

Yeah, that damn Kenny Higgins got into Harvard Law.

Also wore them for BGSU

Denard also wore those new adidas for the Bowling Green game.

We went with Bo

Just got a new Black Lab/Golden Retriever mix puppy that we named Bo.  This was a compromise name that worked for myself and my wife who is a Nebraska grad.  Of course our other older dog is named Husker.

Agree, Somewhat

First, Dr. Tom was coach only during a short period in the off-season during the Callhan-Pellini transition.  It was more or less to provide athletic department oversight of the football program and to allow him to recruit per NCAA regulations.

If something was to happen between now and the end of this coming season that was to result in, hypothetically, the dismissal of Rich Rodriguez, I would absolutely support Lloyd stepping in as the interim coach.

And then I would hope that the coaching search than ensues would bring someone from within the family back home to coach.  And by family I mean former player or member of a previous coaching staff.

True

And it was Nebraska State Teachers College before it was KSC.

Sorry for the mis-print.

UN-L

My wife, who is a Nebraska alum, says UN-L.  Prior to the integration of other schools such as The Municipal University of Omaha, which became the University of Nebraska-Omaha (UN-O) in 1968 and Kearney State University, which became the University of Nebraska-Kearney (UN-K) in 1991, the University of Nebraska was commonly referred to as NU.

Now both abbreviations are commonly used.  Nothing frosted my late father in law more than integrating other colleges into the University of Nebraska system.  "Goddamnit! There's only one University of Nebraska and it's in Lincoln!", he used to tell me.

Huskers

As someone married to a "bred in Lincoln, born in Lincoln, raised in Lincoln, educated in Lincoln" Husker, I shudder to think of the ramifications this has for my marriage.  My wife is giddy over the fact that we may be able to easily drive to East Lansing or Evanston or Bloomington to watch NU play.  The problem is when they play M, there is no way for me to come out a winner.  I'm going to pay one way or the other.

Keep in mind that Nebraska will also be bringing a excellentvolleyball program, solid track program, a sometimes solid swim program, and a women's hoop program that is on the rise with them.

I'm screwed.

Florence and Pienza Italy

Outside the Accademia in Florence waiting to get in to see Michaelangelo's David. It's the Saturday of the 2006 MSU game, I've got on an M sweatshirt, a guy with an M polo shirt comes up to me in line wondering if I've found a place that will have the game on TV. Inside the museum, a guy with an OSU shirt starts up a conversation about how great it would be if both teams were undefeated when they meet in November and how that's the way the Big 10 should be. 2 days later I'm getting ready to hop on my bike in Pienza when a couple walks out of their hotel and seeing my M cycling jersey offer up a hearty "Go Blue".

Husker Fans

I am married to a bred in Lincoln, born in Lincoln, raised in Lincoln, and educated in Lincoln, Cornhusker. We have season tickets to both Michigan and Nebraska. We live in Michigan but get to a couple Nebraksa games most years. I've never had an issue when wearing maize and blue in Lincoln. This year we went back for the 300th sellout at Memorial Stadium. Before I settled in to watch the U of M-IU game on TV I ran to the grocery store. Everyone, and I mean everyone was dressed in red except for 2 of us. I had maize and blue on and in the checkout lane next to me was a guy with MSU basketball stuff on. He just looked at me, laughed, and said, "I don't think we're in Michigan anymore".

I agree

My issue is with all the complaining about the spike. You're absolutely right on the 18 seconds running off before the final timeout.

Les Miles

It was a Hail Mary. If the LSU pass is completed in the endzone, as was intended, Les Miles is seen in a completely different light. I'm just not sure this qualifies as poor coaching.
