...and if he's worthy of a Michigan offer, it'll be because he's really developed late—certainly not out of the question. The only Big Ten schools to offer him have been Illinois and Indiana; other than Wake Forest (where he's committed), the rest of his offer sheet consists of MAC schools.
He was at the Sound Mind Sound Body camp, so the coaches have certainly seen him in action; he also camped at Ohio State. I think the offer sheet tells you how coaches currently view him: a solid talent, but not one who merits top-level offers, at least not yet.

...on their skill-sets, the relative lack of redshirting in college hoops, and the general makeup of the roster, I'd be pretty surprised if either MAAR or Dawkins redshirted. MAAR is reportedly doing well handling the ball, he's getting to the line a ton, and he's got a good reputation on the defensive end. Dawkins is supposedly the best athlete on the team. They may not get a ton of time, but I think Beilein will find a role for both.

It's one fan watching one game. In the first game, Doyle didn't record a single rebound, while Donnal had five (including three offensive) and went 2/3 from the field. Plus, they're playing under FIBA rules, so there's a 24-second clock—it's hard to write off a guy based on one or two games played under different rules, especially when very few of us actually get to watch them.

EDIT: Seth re-added it, with a notable change. In related news, Seth is a jerk.

...but Henry's in line for more playing time this year, and I do love watching Henry play, so I went with him. Again, it's subjective. At this time next year, I expect Hurst will be on this type of list. Same reasoning was behind going with Norfleet over Freddy Canteen. (Also, I think Brian would fire me if I made this list without including Norfleet.)

Seth saw those two at the scrimmage. Not sure about Onwenu and Peoples-Jones, but given that two Cass Tech guys came down for it, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they were there too. Can't find confirmation, though.

Posted a comment about getting Damon Webb out of Cass Tech that was so appallingly over the line I don't care about any past commenting history—what he posted has no place here or anywhere.

...so it's pretty early to say. After their sophomore years, Lewis had been a backup behind Terry Richardson and Delonte Hollowell, while Webb was just transferring to Cass Tech from U-D Jesuit. He's a little below where those two ended up ranked (especially Webb), but as I said, there's not a ton to go on yet for comparison's sake.

Thank you for bearing with our stubborn competitiveness and occasionally (or often) exhaustive wordiness. The kind words are very much appreciated. (And yes, that was the intent.)

(Also, thank you, Mr. Utah, for providing these entertaining, detailed, and flawlessly accurate recaps.)

...competing against two redshirt juniors with starting experience at the O-line position that requires the most knowledge of the offense and ability to make calls and command the line.
Any concern about Kugler is way premature.

My bad. Fixing that now.
|1 week 3 days ago||This is a bit harsh.||
But for what it's worth, I asked two questions—the Indiana-related tempo question and the immediate follow-up.
|1 week 3 days ago||He gets pumped, too.||
This was my first Mattison press scrum—and before I continue, I must thank Adam for transcribing this, it was a solid 20 minutes of audio—and I managed to find myself in the very front. (Everybody bolted for Nussmeier when the coordinators came out. They spoke at the same time in different parts of the room. Thankfully, there were two of us there.)
I thought I gave a pretty wide berth, but when Mattison started getting to the good stuff, he nearly knocked the phone out of my hand several times. I was right in the fist pump/lineman punch path.
It wasn't hard to tell he's excited about this defense.

...with Hollowell's wonderful, ALL-CAPS Twitter account. It's a blog favorite.
I can confirm that he doesn't yell everything in real life. In fact, he was one of the more laid-back guys I interviewed on Sunday.
|1 week 4 days ago||Not at all.||
A couple times he started to answer a question and then stopped himself. I think the offensive players were told to keep things a little more under wraps than the defensive guys—at least, it came off that way. I've interviewed Dawson a couple times before; not confrontational at all, just doesn't mince his words.

That was poorly worded on my part.
|1 week 4 days ago||Thought that myself...||
...but the article stated that he's scheduled three visits and is considering a fourth, so unless the reporter screwed up (not out of the question) Sunderland meant he's planning trips to both Michigan and Ohio State.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||Think of it this way...||
I want to do this one justice, and a hastily written third post of the day that'll go up sometime around 11 pm isn't going to do it.
Plus, more time to collect RCMB schadenfreude.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||Well, for one...||
...he was here in the spring, which wasn't the case for Ways. Probably could've worded that better and said something about having more experience with the speed, physicality, and technique required to play the college game; was trying for brevity.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Coaches will still be in||
Coaches will still be in contact, sure. But calls from recruiting reporters get a whole lot less frequent after a commitment, and that can mean a lot if a player is getting serious attention from a lot of big-time schools—at this point, just about every major D-I school has 3-4 dedicated recruiting outlets (Rivals, Scout, 247, a few on ESPN) plus local papers, blogs, etc. publishing recruiting stuff, as well.
For what it's worth, I'd be in favor of an early signing period for football, especially (critically) if they also allowed prospects to use official visits before their senior year begins.

Given the insane amount of attention from coaches and reporters that top recruits get these days, I have a really hard time criticizing a kid for wanting to get his decision over with early.

6'3", 195. Major emphasis by the coaches on getting bigger receivers over the past few classes, and I don't see that stopping.

...if for no other reason than he provides a serious matchup problem that teams are less used to facing than a guy like Gardner (more solid dual-threat QBs out there than fast, TE-sized wideouts). It's pretty damn close, though; I'd probably go with Jake Ryan if there wasn't the uncertainty regarding the switch to MIKE.
